im pretty sure freeze shots was in the official editor for ages now (wether the initial idea is from custom levels i don’t remember though), so i guess they had the idea years ago and figured out how to implement them into the main story afterwards
I was having a lot of trouble getting the rhythm for this one, but I've made a breakthrough from analyzing this video! I've realized that I should be counting in 5/8 here, not 5/4 like I had originally thought. Hopefully this helps someone else who might be struggling.

Admittedly as I played and watched, I noticed that "1 2 THREE 4" on the heartbeats, and "1 2 3 FOUR" on the freeze notes was good for me.

I pretty much always count 5/4 and higher in subdivisions, in this case it was 12-123 which was also what most of the hardest freeze beats were
5/8 is now my fav time sig
I'm having trouble visualizing it, but counting is for nerds xD

Try consciously count in time signature like 5 or 7! It's really fun and once you get into it, this level will be immensely more enjoyable to play
Or you can do what I do and not count at all, and just time it to when it feels right.

It most definitely is counting in fives, just the small beats inbetween, the quavers
the main beat interval is 1! 2 3 4! 5 6
but the freeze version is 1! 2 3 4 5! 6
