Pretty sure that's not cocaine. I think the joke is ketamine is used to treat depression, but ofc not by abusing it. It's a hallucinogen and anesthetic. "Whoa what is wrong with your face" cracks me up. Have to give points for novel if super limited character select screen.
Ofc also opens up the idea that the whole game takes place in an out of body, time-dilated drug trip. Which it kind of seems to anyway. FWIW it looks more like cocaine, which requires smaller doses, but hey video game logic: either way no chance that lil bit is lasting an entire weekend 🙃
Unless it's some kind of very potent research designer analog, (e.g
3-MeO-PCP, who knows, which wouldn't be culturally inaccurate for upper middle class teens if they're using the dark net, and I wouldn't put it past the writers, it also slows time perception and lasts a dozen hours). But that's probably me just reading too much into yet another not-thought-through representation of drugs in media because I've actually studied pharmacology and harm reduction related to drug use, and they very rarely get it right, hence the ambiguity, I doubt they actually thought it through beyond "let's make the face select arrows out of drugs). I promise this is more autism than pedantry. It's a curse I go through with anything from books to movies. It's immersion breaking (this happens with music too, and I'd imagine happens to other people who's areas of study are represented by the utterly uninformed, or almost worse, they get enough right that it's infuriating that they miss something else directly related, so you know they just half ass googled it and with ten more seconds of reading wouldn't have made a mockery of specialized academia).

I think it's a joke, and not story related, but I haven't seen the ending. Just because of the tired idea that drugs cause super realistic hallucinations indistinguishable from reality. Some do like datura or members of the belladonna family but they also destroy someone's ability to walk, or see (don't get me started on far cry 5, where the flower you use in health syringes contains all the same chems as the brainwashing flower, both are datura - it can even be used for brainwashing, but then they just have you using it as health pickups, ruining any remote credibility to the plot). If the character was injecting extract of jimson weed, a common name for the same plant as Bliss is modeled after (it can be purple or white IRL, same plant) they'd be near fatally dehydrated and curled up in a fetal position seeing all kinds of.... Ok far cry 5 is more likely all a drug psychosis than High on Life, from the first time the rookie injected datura, cuz you don't come back from that - go watch the movie Jacob's Ladder, that bz gas does the same stuff and that's a true story). Rookie wouldn't remember anything longer than two minutes, after living what seem like real months of pure hallucinations in as little as a few hours. Probably committed suicide outside the delusion. I find the idea hilarious that the whole game is entirely because the rookie seriously poisoned themselves psychotic by very badly misinterpreting a half remembered folk remedy, and hallucinated a conspiracy involving the drug they consumed, and the end of days (they died of heart failure if not suicide; or new dawn is what they hallucinate once locked up and medicated into a walking coma). Ubisoft just loves their street cred. I still laugh at them for calling desomorphine an amphetamine on an SD card connectable in fc3 tryna look hip and edgy. It has morphine, THE OG opiate, in the name. Cube seconds on Google would sort it but they just that confident. That's basically the standard I hold Ubisoft to, with an anticipated downward trend.

There's another way to play out the Dr Joopy part but you need the gun from that other mission. It's pretty funny though.

Man. Like RDR2, for some reason, this game changed my life. It was just the thing I needed at the right time. And I played it about a year after it came out.

Squanch games is clearly a talented company. These gameplay mechanics are smooth AF. They clearly understand balance and telegraphing and are clearly well versed in overall game design. I'm curious to see what they'll do without Roiland; i.e. not beholden to someone else for direction in humor, writing and aesthetics (tho I think he did found the company, they are still carrying on without him, and I wonder what they'll do on their own). A studio to watch I think. If they can do this with its seen-it-for-a-decade humor and voicing, I look forward to potential original works that don't hammer a thousand jokes about how video games work down the player's throat (for example).

Wow, this is the first time I've watched gameplay of this and it actually looks pretty fun. The humor and dialogue make me wanna kill myself, but the gunplay looks great.
