    FYI, the reason the Toymaker kept changing his accent is that, in the first doctor episode, he beat the Toymaker by imitating his voice.

    Sadly, Bernard Cribbins passed away shortly after filming the scene in Wild Blue Yonder. They used a body double for the brief scene in this episode.

      Aww that's a shame, I thought it didn't look like Bernard Cribbins in this episode.

    I think what'll happen is 14 will chill with Donna, go on some small adventure, then when that incarnation regens, will regen out of himself like we just saw, a loop.

    • @ReactandRamble
      @ReactandRamble  5 місяців тому +2

      That is a pretty solid theory, I can see that happening.

    • @zemoxian
      @zemoxian 5 місяців тому +1

      There’s different theories. Another is that when 14 regenerates he becomes someone else that we’ve seen before. That was my initial head canon. Not saying who until you get farther along with your reactions.
      Though I’ve heard rumors that the writers had something entirely different in mind. Apparently bi-generation may have had far reaching effects involving all the Doctors. Not sure how that’s supposed to work out.

    • @ReactandRamble

      Ooh that would be interesting! I really hope we are told in the future what happens, it’s fun having theories but I will at some point need an answer🤣

    I loved everything about this final special. Couldn't be happier that 10/14 got his happy ending & the opportunity to heal himself. Well deserved... as Ten was one of the shortest-lived Doctors, in universe (only around 6-ish years). And Fourteen has only been around for 15 hours total. So it's like RTD put a bow on the NuWho years... and is starting fresh again. With Fifteen hitting the ground running, similar to the restart with Nine.
    I don't agree with those who say this undercuts Ncuti's entrance. I feel the opposite actually. Newly regenerated Doctors only get about a minute and one line at the very end of a regeneration episode. But here, Ncuti shined as Fifteen... playing a fully central part. His energy and charm shined brightly, easily holding his own beside the arguably most favorite Doctor. In fact, Fifteen compels our focus. That is impressive.
    Seeing David & Ncuti's Doctors together was a treat that I will treasure. The vibe was incredibly beautiful & inspiring. 10/14 passing the torch, personally, to a very worthy successor. Loved it. It was emotionally fulfilling on every level.
    And, technically, since the Doctor is an 'immortal' time-traveler... all incarnations exist thru time and criss-cross each other. (Even if we don't see it. Multiple Doctors have always existed during the same time.)
    Here's to 10/14 resting well & enjoying life, to Donna's job with Unit... and to the new adventures of 15!

      Wow, I didn't realise he is one of the shortest-lived Doctors! It felt like he was the Doctor for ages.
      Yeah, I agree it does feel like a restart.
      Ncuti really does captivate as soon as he appears on screen. David and Ncuti had amazing chemistry together, it was quite special to watch.
      That's an interesting point!
      Thanks for the comment, I loved your thoughts on this episode!

      He had 3 series and a year of specials so his run time was about average show wise.
      But chronologically he had a short run. I think the first Doctor was less than 200. 10 was over 900. So that averages nearly a century each.
      But 10 was the Doctor only for a few short years. He could have done so much more but was cut short pretty quickly compared to other doctors.

    If you look at the bi-generation scene, you can see that they're wearing around half the clothes.
    David Tennant was wearing the pants, undershirt, and vest.
    Ncuti Gatwas was wearing pants, shoes, underwear, shirt, and tie.

    This episode was certainly interesting! We still need more information about the bigeneration, because I feel like this can create a MCU problem... "Oh, why not call the Avengers?", you know? But overall, I had a great time and the Toymaker was awesome. Sorry about the spoilers tho lol. Until you get to that point, you probably will forget what happen with the companions (hopefully, at least). Great reaction! Can't wait for more Doctor Who in your channel!

      Russel spoke on both on the video commentary. The bigeneration I can't be bothered explaining, but he said about the "Oh why doesn't so and so help" problem that it's TV and if everyone who existed helped how would the story work, etc. It's an interesting watch.

    • @mareiramv
      @mareiramv 9 місяців тому

      @@xzempty_8387 not gonna lie but that's a very lame excuse by Russel. I understand doing this with the spin-offs, but if the bigeneration happened in the main series, they should treat it properly or, really, don't make it at all. It's been said that now 15 isn't THE Doctor but A Doctor, that kinda undervalues he's character.

      @@mareiramv Not really. The same question could always be applied to the show because the Doctor sometimes ends up in the same area at the same timeframe, so the question ends up being "Why didn't so and so help this Doctor because those Doctors were there too." It's a time travel show so it's always had that. You can watch ALL of who in timeline order and years and sometimes jump from Classic to Nu where a classic Doctor would be in the same area as another Classic or Nuwho Doctor would be.

      I remember there being 3 Doctors and 5 Doctors in the same episode in classic Who. A couple of my favorite childhood stories seeing them together. (Well, Tom Baker didn’t actually join the reunion so they used unused footage of him from another story. He got trapped and didn’t make it to get involved with the action. But he was included in the story. Unnecessary digression. 🤔)
      I think it was a fun inclusion. It would be a shame if the show got so formulaic and inflexible that it can’t surprise the audience after 60 years. Hopefully it will keep evolving and changing so that in another 60 years it’s still full of surprises.

    Keeping it Scottish, we've got Tennant - Scottish, Gatwa - Scottish, then although he doesn't claim Scottishness, Harris as a last name is Scottish. I mean I went to Harris Academy in Dundee, so he has to have some Scottish DNA in him lol.

    I've seen it multiple times now so I want to mention: there's a few people in the comments that are throwing around their fan theories as established lore facts (the idea that female timelords have more control of their regenerations is the big one. That's just not a thing. Since regeneration can change genders, what does a "female timelord" even mean?), and are banking on the fact that you're probably not going to check. The comments on these kinds of videos are usually bad as people seemingly either don't understand or don't care what a spoiler is, but this is the first time I've seen multiple people just lie about canon

    Neil Patrick Harris was the perfect Toymaker. In a way, I'm hoping that he isn't just a 1 and done character. Doctor Who has a habit of bringing back characters that seems impossible to come back. How many times has the Master "died" and came back.

    This was a great episode and really enjoyed it up until the point of the bigeneration I have to confess I'm not a massive fan of that I would rather that Tennant's Doctor had just changed rather than the split because it overshadows Ncuti's Doctor and in my opinion is not the best way to introduce your new star and it takes away the impact and consequences as much as I enjoyed Tennant for his time I'm hoping that's the last we see of him.
    From what I understand of what Ncuti's Doctor was explaining to Tennant's Doctor about doing "Rehab out of order" the 14th Doctor (Tennant) retires for awhile has a long life with the Noble family and then when he's finally had enough he will eventually regenerate into the 15th Doctor (Gatwa) properly off-screen which is why 15 is alot more happier and calmer now he's still the next Doctor the same Doctor with the same memories depite it being a restart from his upcoming first season there's also another theory that Tennant's retired Doctor will become the Curator as played by Tom Baker from "The Day of the Doctor" and will regenerate into old Doctors.
    Aside from that though I thought Neil Patrick Harris did a great job as The Toymaker and played the part well but I did feel his defeat was too quick.

    • @ReactandRamble
      @ReactandRamble  9 місяців тому

      The bigeneration is a divisive subject! I do understand where your coming from, however, I don't think he overshadowed Ncuti but yes it did take away some of the impact!
      Ok, that is really confusing and interesting lol. Hopefully, we get some confirmation about which theory is right soon.
      Yes, I would have liked to see a longer battle with more NPH throwing more twists in the mix.
      Thanks for the comment and the new information!

    I understand skipping Jodie Whittaker’s 13th Doctor as her era is the worst in terms of writing and overall performances but also skipping Matt Smith’s 11th and Peter Capaldi’s 12th should be considered a war crime (I’m joking of course) but seriously though Matt and Peter were amazing in their respective portrayals

      I'm of the opinion of "don't yuck someone else's yum," there's good and bad in every era, no need to blanket color one as worse than another. Something you hate someone else might enjoy. She might find something she enjoys of Jodie.
