I really miss your card making videos. I know you're taking your channel in a different direction, but we old-time Lindsay viewers love and miss the old content. Thanks for allowing us to reminisce with your card making content. When I have a bad day, I go to one of your card making playlists and they always make me happy. Thanks for this video...made my day! Sandy
It was so nostalgic to watch a card making YT using what you already have! Going back to just having fun and playing with your supplies. Gets that creative mojo moving in all our brains. I normally just listen to your YT but this is one I had to watch from beginning to end with a big cup of coffee this morning! Thank you!
You're so brave, putting that scroll design over the beautiful chalky pastel base layer. I would never think of doing something like that, but it works beautifully! And putting the cardstock on top of the inked layer ~ wow! I love the super clear impression you got. And spot lighting ~ I love that technique, too. I'm always learning so many useful things in your cardmaking videos. Thank you for continuing to do them!
So very beautiful!! I really appreciate that you say use what you have!! So many make you think you have to have all the new products!! And when you are on a budget that is not possible!! I have supplies from 15 yrs ago!! This was so helpful!! Thanks so much!!
Only fifteen years? I've been crafting for a long time too, and don't see the need to throw out things that are perfectly good, because they aren't exactly on trend. They come back into fashion, anyway, and if they don't, who cares?
Thank you for constantly reminding us to use what we have and think before we purchase. I unfortunately have given away my entire stash twice due to illness, only to try to buy things back, which is not only costly, but obviously some things simply don’t exist anymore. Then I got trapped in the “I have to buy the latest release” only to have stuff I was unhappy with. I really appreciate that you have a style and you use what you love and aren’t constantly buying new (okay at least with stamps, I know you can’t resist a cute palette or a sketchbook, but we all have something like that 😉). The card and the envelope are gorgeous and I’m sure your daughter loved it.
I absolutely love it when you bring older supplies out to play with helping the rest of us to be creative with what supplies we have that are maybe even collecting dust cause we feel the need to use the latest and greatest when things we have gave us joy when we acquired them too and they can again just by using them. Thank you.
Full of great tips, thanks. I am a journal-maker rather than a card maker, but your tips (on backgrounds, compositions and materials) work just as well for the inspiration I need. Beautiful card. Your daughter will love it, surely.
faux postage stamps are one of my favorite embellishments to make. I cut out pictures from magazines, motifs from fabric, and also paint some by hand. I have quite the collection now, but I can't seem to stop!
I have one more done I need to edit and then 3 more cards to make as it is birthday season in my family so I should have 4 more cardmaking videos coming!
your card is beautiful. I like the amount of decorating the inside and the whole envelope. I decorate everywhere but not as much, great idea. stamping the background stamp in a light, blending with the paper is cool also.
Thanks for posting this. I just got into junk journaling and I think it will pair beautifully with card making and stamping! I miss the card videos too!
Super cardmaking video, I love collage cards. I think you said , use what you have about 5 times today. I know it's not your fav to do these but I really love them TY.
thank you for reminding me about several older techniques that i had completely forgotten about. Sometimes i get so caught up in the 'new' stuff i forget about some of the 'golden oldies'...and i've been doing this paper crafting thing for almost 30 years. the cool thing is...i love it just as much today as the day i watched a demo of embossing powder melting...love watching you do your thing Lindsay!
What a beautiful card! It looks like it would be meditative and relaxing to make a card as you just said. I am sure your daughter will love this card. ❤❤😊😊
Hullo Lindsay, I am just so in awe of your cards! I am just to lazy to construct a card like you and my wife! She made a dozen cards this weekend and they were so similar to yours! I took a calligraphy class in my 8th grade summer and I still have the nibs(as well as many I have purchased since) for doing sentiments on my cards. I paint a picture on the front, a flower or other floral combination, even a lakeside attraction! Place a script down then go inside to sign and offer a platitude or well wishes! I believe that my last card was a rose with Happy Birthday in a blue ink using my dip pen and flat nib! I used a fountain pen with a flex nib to write inside and that’s the whole deal, I just make them to order. I wish I could work like you or my wife I just don’t have the patience to create a card for future events! I sure do admire those of you who can! Thank you for sharing this video experience with your viewers! Now go enjoy the lovely day!
I always enjoy your card-making videos, I even join in 'No, don't put it there, try it on the other ... oh yes, perhaps it is better there' 😁 Thank you for sharing your thought processes!
I love the card and envelope, so beautiful! I had to check out Technique Junkies because of the beautiful background stamps you used and now I am $76. poorer. Ha,Ha! They had such pretty stamps I couldn't resist. Thanks Lindsay, I'm glad I watched your show today!
"Tearable. Not terrible." 😄 The birthday card looks beautiful!! I love those postage stamps, and the birdie was just perfect inside. And omg, the envelope - gorgeous!! This card is so special and meaningful 💗
I’m loving these mixed-media projects you’ve been doing! I’m pulling out old unused supplies and using them. So satisfying! Loved the card! I watched while stamping butcher paper for bday gift wrap…maybe I’ll make a card like yours to match the wrap:)
I love your card it is really Awesome , I have a Minc foil machine and I hot foil cards with PanPastels ...I also got a Cricut Maker but not used yet . Love to do 3D Decoupage cards too. I use digital prints I brought from Esty and backing paper pads. Make cards are super fun xxxxxxx Thank you for your tips ..love your vintage stamps. Thanks for sharing xxx Happy crafting xxx
Great tips and tricks. I love making cards and always wanted to try a mixed media or collage type, but I am not the best at the cohesive part, so THANK YOU for doing this video.
OMGee! I have a smaller set of metallic and non-metallic Pebbles chalks too. (Thought it was the same as yours but it's not.) I pulled mine out recently too. They do give a really super soft color lay-down so Im glad I still have them. I am, however, slowly working on destashing some of my older crafting or cheaper art supplies that have just been sitting for way too long. And as you know, with some moist or liquid coloring supplies they will eventually dry out and there's no bringing them back. I think I'm gonna give most of my stash of crafting paint away. I never used it much after I got it, like 7 or 8 years ago (like Apple Barrel, Folk Art, Craft Smart, etc.) So it would be good to make the cut sooner rather than later and while they're still usable, let them go to someone or somewhere else, and maybe they can make better use of it all.
i have those exact type of brown paper cards/envelopes but never knew how to approach it because most markers/inks appeared dull on the background when i tried it out the first time i will now be trying these cards out again and hopefully this time i will have better results, thanks to you!!
I will definitely be back to watch this with a cup of coffee... How do you mail cards that have buttons and ribbons and such. My postoffice give me such trouble.. Now if its not completely flat and flexible they want to charge me a package rate... ! Anyway... i'll be back. Hugs! deb
I put it in my mailbox with a couple of stamps on it. Sometimes I will put a sheet of cardstock over the card front to make it smoother. If it is under 1/4" thick and flexible it should go as envelope/letter rate. I know they make "non machinable" postage stamps but I've never used them.
Hello Lindsay, beautiful card you made for your daughter. You said you got your heavy weight cardstock for the card base from Joann's and also Michael's had. Can you tell me cardstock weight, is it 80lb or 110 lb cardstock? Thanks for sharing your beautiful ideas. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas

Thanks so much!
I love this. I often stop earlier than I want to for fear of overdoing. Gosh this is my type of card.
Yay! Thanks!
Oh, I like using older supplies! I don’t want to have to go and buy all the ‘latest and greatest’ just to be able to create. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much! I figure I might as well use leftovers to decorate the inside rather than have to put it away!
Beautiful card, thanks Lindsay!

Super fun and informative, even for non-card makers. Thanks!

I do really enjoy your card making videos. But, is your bird upside down?
No, he is swooping down.
Is that Vintage Photo Distress Oxide you use over the popping pastels?
I think so, I'm not totally sure, I have the 1st 2 releases if the distress oxides and a couple random colors.
Where did you get the huge stamp platform/holder?
It's a mega mount from impression Obsession but I don't think they make them anymore.
Does oxide inks stay vibrant for longer, than distress inks? Isn't oxide inks toxic?
I'm not sure how lightfast it is. I don't worry about it on a card.
Distress oxide ink pads aren't toxic, but there is a CL lable on the sprays due to some ingredients.
