Match of the tournament by far! Tien seemed at the same level of experience in the tiebreak, what a mature behaviour and Medvedev's total lack of service and aggression cost him another GS match. What a battle 👏👏👏👏👏👏
I really love how Learner is a patient player and likes to construct points until the right moment. He doesn’t mind waiting it out until he’s got the shot.

But also: almost 5 hours, went until 3 am, 5 setter, two tie breaks, 5th set super tie break, started raining in the fifth set at 5-5, they had to close the roof. 19 yo upsets fifth seed Medvedev. Crazy rallies and shots pulled in the crucial moments, by both. Idk man, I’ve seen a lot of tennis and I don’t remember anything like this recently. This is one for history.

Nah, it's more that the top guys don't have the consistency of the peak Big 3. No shame in that, but Federer Nadal & Djokovic in their primes consistently made deep runs because they were too locked in and skilled to lose early. And they certainly would've done that with today's top 100 regardless
It was always like that just that BIG3 always made it look like reaching the semi and final of a grandslam is easy. Alcaraz I'm sure will be like Big3 if there are no major injuries

I'm sure he'll level up his fitness even more and train to become explosive. But I feel he'll get out-gunned by other players that can move well and just hit bigger. A solid top 30 for sure and I can see him being a top 20. But either way, it doesn't look like he's going to give much away and every match his opponent can't have a mental lapse.
