I have used the Pocket 2 to record some videos on a bike, and a key thing is to use the app, set it to single focus and manually pick a spot using the app off in the distance to essentially focus to infinity and then readjust the angle and such, otherwise it’ll focus on the handlebars and blur too much stuff out.
Thank you for the video. Big difference in video quality at night between the two cameras. And the best setting for the pocket 3 seems to be tilt lock / wide angle / fixed autofocus if you're doing a pov video.
Exactly. He needed to change the focus setting to "single focus" mode and dial in a predetermined focal distance to avoid that. The current setup he used in the video proved that the OP3 is pretty good at doing what it's supposed to do in auto mode which is automatically focusing on the closest object to it and blurring out the background (something that all regular action cameras cannot do currently).
Nice video! Loved seeing how well pocket 3 performs in motorcycling. If you're someone who talks to the camera a lot, it's definitely gonna be your top pick! 👌
I think the best advantage of the gimble-stablized camera like DJI Pocket 3 used for riding POV is that it can use ND filters to create cinematic footage with natural looking motion blurs without ruin the EIS of the ordinary action cameras. I would like you to try it next time with the ND filter, locked focus, D-log profile in a good lighting condition, to fully realize its image potential.
The image quality of Pocket 3 is much better then Action 4 in my opinion. The image looks brighter, there is more detail and the stabilization is really good, everything looks smooth like it's shot from a drone. Incredible camera.
I took the same shot with Pocket2 mounted on my chest. The focus is on the smartphone mounted on the handle. The camera was facing upwards. I had to remove my smartphone from the handlebars to keep it out of sight.
I personally think that the pocket 3 is more suitable for selfie vlogging or short content creations. Got mine for learning vacation b rolls and real estate shots project. However i tried mounting the pocket 3 using the adapter attached to my backpack, it does do the awesome job on the bike. Note that it also have the “wearable mode” function where everything is basically set on the best setting.
I mean your video makes clear what I don't think DJI has hidden... the Pocket 3 is not an "action cam". It's just a video cam... a pocket sized one, with excellent low light properties and mechanical stabilization. It's a replacement for a smartphone or larger unstabilized cameras like the Sony ZV1. it's ideal for vlogging or walkabout travel video. for what you want you really want (and I know you have obviously) a real action cam like the DJI Action 4 or a GoPro Hero 12 is the way to go. For me a kit like the Pocket 3, Action 4, and a Mini 4 Pro drone would fit in a relatively small bag and would be a killer creator arsenal on the go.
So fixing the focus to a point in the upper third and the blur is resolved !? That is fantastic and I think for driving motorbikes and then using it as a camera is amazing.
I had a dji action 1 on my chest mount this summer, even when I often checked the position so I was somewhat looking at the horizon, I ended up with a lot of footage where I was pointing to low. So annoying, because the formfactor was nice. Im planning getting the pocket 3 - looks kinda stupid on the chest (even pointing with the screen outward) but the lock on the horizon on both axes is crucial for me. thanks for the nice video.
Hey bro sick video thanks! Question was this audio just from the camera? No external mics etc. because it’s actually great and the wind isn’t that bad at all with no wind breakers
Can you also use your phone at the same time while the DJI is connecte to your phone for picture preview? Is the phone still usable and get data via cellular?
🔴Really liked your video & totally agree if DJI puts a zoom on the Pocket 3 that will be very welcome. I would like to do POV with Pocket 3. I like the chest mount set up most. Are 1, 2, 3 below all that is needed to do a POV or is there anything missing or any suggestion you have? 1. DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Action Camera Mount 2. Osmo Pocket 3 Expansion Adapter 3. GoPro Performance Chest Mount (GoPro Official Mount) Thank You, VERY VERY much!
Did you bump the gimbal at all during your testing? One thing I'm worried about is something hitting it when mounted and exposed like that. What about wind turbulence? Did that mess with the gimbal at all?
Great review. I’m thinking of getting the pocket 3 to make photography POVs and until now I’ve only saw handheld reviews. Really nice performance with the chest mount and that’s exactly what I was looking for.
Exactly. Totally different scenarios and products. I don't think no one is going to buy the pocket 3 for cycling, skying, whatever... It's a vloging câmera with very good quality and portability and that's it...
@@lmarques1979 I did, waiting looong time for the camera that not depend on shutter speed for stabilisation! this is the answer for cycling filming after 3pm
It's a gimbal camera. End of story. I don't see the difficulty in deciding its purpose and use case. It's not an action camera, by design. So I wouldn't expect it to be a good one. In fact, I would strongly suggest to someone looking for an action camera - don't buy it. For someone looking for a gimbal camera - it's probably the best one ever made, overall.
After watching your video, I think both the Pocket 3 chest mount and the Action 4 chin mount look ridiculous. Seriously. Anyone looking at either would think they look ridiculous. Any body mounted action cam looks ridiculous. Maybe not to you, but to everyone else. But that being said, any creator needs to move beyond looking ridiculous.
Great vid. Just wondering at 7:50 was that okay to do as a cyclist? You made it seem as if you were a pedestrian on the side walk but then acted as a vehicle and entered traffic.
@@sedativelimit been to india, theres a method to the madness there and it is what it is. I'm more worried about the situation he put himself in there. The car could've turned into him there and who would be at fault?> Legit just curious.

maybe thats why in my test on the motorcycle the focus was wobbely. Will try ist with the app and autofocus lock. Thanks

Yeah I agree, he should have re done this video with the osmo pocket 3 elevated above the handlebars to avoid those focusing issues….smh

Can you mount the DJ pocket 3 directly to the handle bars of your evite? Or would the vibration ruin the image?
Just as a side note, the Pocket 3 does have a digital zoom and does a pretty good job of adjusting for the cropped image.
Hello, where do you mount your pocket 3 in that video and what do you call that mount?

What is the app you use on your phone?
I can't get video feedback in portrait mode on mimo..
I find tilt lock is the best for POV shot like this.
What type is your bike ?!
Is it electric one .. and how much does it take to charge ?
You think i can use a neck mount with a strap around my body for my pocket 3 ?
Can you share the link for the chest strap mount
Is a gopro 12 better or dji action 4 ?!

Def seems like a vlogging while walking down the street camera. The fact that its blurry in some way is a nogo for an e bike content creator.
Are you actually using the official DJI Expansion Adaptor? BTW, I appreciated your feedback and thoughts!

You make a lot of gestures, people in traffic might get confused or may think you make gestures to them?
the wide angle lens blurs the lights in low light
DJI Pocket 3 is not considered as "action cam". They have the DJI Action 4 for the action moments

There's "wearable mode", which may help with a lot of these issues: ua-cam.com/video/H9uuaoCwOws/v-deo.html. I've not used it myself, yet.
if ONLY pocket 3 body can be swing to the side, then your mounting would be more comfortable.
THAT WOULD be game changer.
Hope DJI watch your video
btw have you heard of Feiyu pocket 3?
Action camera is better for riding.
There is a 2x zoom
there is a lot of focus hunting there, i hope dji is aware of that.
Chest mount looks rediculous...but the chin mount doesn't? I think you don't know what the chin mount looks like to people around you.
It’s pointing down due to gforce.
