Enjoy your stay in Cebu City...expect the unexpected but one thing I assure you Filipinos are very accommodating and helpful in many ways! 😊❤
Very true! Thank you!
Filipinos- very hospitable!
Yes Zane, what is more touching and happier for your followers especially Filipinos, is to see you also communicating with them and reach out to them…
Welcome to our city, Zane! Enjoy and be sure to explore the rest of Cebu.
I stayed in Fuente for 1 month before. The transpo in Cebu is mental, but the food is on a different level. Filipino here watching in the UK 🇬🇧 missing Philippines ❤️
JanVergel lots of Filipino/Filipina at UK? I’m Cebuano, watching from Florida. And what part in UK?
You made all the locals happy for giving extra payment or letting them keep the change :)
Great video! Do note: In observance of the Holy Week (spanning from April 2 to April 8), most of the city residents went to the province to either go home or in a vacation to beaches and resorts outside the metro. That could explain why the city looks so barren and desolate and pretty much everything will return to its status quo ante by Monday next week. Do enjoy your stay!
and the Cebuano language is widely spoken in many areas in Visayas and Mindanao and in some parts of Southern Luzon
Jose Rizal isn't only an important figure in the Philippines and Asia. You will find monuments, plaques of recognition and streets named after him in China, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Czech Republic, France, Italy, UK, Australia, Canada and in some US cities.
I'd love to visit Cebu one day.. home of the lechon (roast pig). Cebuano and Tagalog are just a few of the languages spoken in the Philippines. We have 180 living languages at the moment.. Also, I notice in your vlogs, you let small-time vendors keep the change. It's a very kind gesture and great example to people who are more blessed than others.
The palm cross is intended for the palm Sunday which is a catholic feast
I like your travel videos of the Philippines. Salamat.
Glad you like them!
You the only foreign vlogger that figured out how to take that jeepney properly lol
Beautiful Cebu City
That’s my dad’s province. My mom still has a house there in Daanbantayan. Visit all their beaches .
The modern part of Cebu city are Cebu IT Park and Cebu business park a contrast of downtown and uptown Cebu where you've been.
IT Park is tiny. He didn't even go to BGC or Makati in Manila, which are huge areas. So why would he go to tiny IT Park?
The very reason why cities in Philippines are so crowded and so much traffic! It’s because most people from the provinces specially young adult will come to the cities to look for work or go to universities for college. So the Big cities becoming compact and people live in the city not bothered by traffic, people because they’re used to a kind of life. Filipinos do adopt and adjust well. Patience and perseverance also attributed to that kind of way. Be safe and have fun.
23:15
The Php25 palm fronds you bought were for Palm Sunday (to be blessed in the church) to mark the beginning of the Lenten Week for the Roman Catholics.
Try Davao and Iloilo. Palawan too!
Do not miss to go to the highlands surrounding Cebu City.. The Gardens, Tao Temple, Leah's Temple and the panoramic view of Cebu city.
You should try eating cebu lechon, very juicy. Mango shakes are very good as well.
cebuano is like the people/language but other term for the cebuano language too is bisaya which is spoken by central and southern phils (2/3 of the country) so its practical to learn bisaya someday
"Dagku" means big/large in Cebuano, I think they're selling large oranges. Then "Tulo" is Cebuano for number 3. It say's "Tulo 20" or 3 pcs for 20 Pesos, I guess.
Yes that is correct.
Nice to meet you . I'm from Cebu...
Hi Zane, I'm from Cebu, I am glad you featured our place.
Beautiful Cebu City 😘
Palaspas is not souvinir this only exist during holy week is part of catholic tradition where you take it to the church to be blessed by the priest and hang it to your door afterwards.
Metro Cebu is the 2nd biggest Metro in the Philippines after Metro Manila which is composed of 17 LGU, Metro Cebu is composed of 13 ( 7 are cities - Cebu, Mandaue, Lapu Lapu, Talisay, Naga, Carcar, Danao) another component will be upgraded to cityhood, the city of Lioan so soon it will be 8, the remaining are municipalities, Soon Cebu will have an LGU like Manila where each city sets their own codes and rules. The prime city of Cebu province is of course Cebu, the oldest founded capital in the Philippines !
So happy you visited my hometown CEBU CITY. I am watching fro HCM city Vietnam. Can you explore the modern part of Cebu city which are Cebu It Park , Cebu Business Park and South Road Properties. You can also visit the mountain area of cebu city like temple of leah, mountain vie, lavie in the sky ,tops of cebu restaurant and Sirao graden.
That internet cafe scene reminded me of my childhood (high-school life). I had to go to that kinda place to surf the internet for my homeworks and also play ‘Audition’ (Dancing game) 😊
Spectacular Zane Travel. You did your research about Cebu quite well.
Dr. jose rizal is our national hero and the cross made of palm is not a souvenir but for the palm sunday (part of religious activity during lenten season)... to commemorate Jesus Christ entry to jerusalem, where people took branches of palms to meet Him....
Good to know!
Cebu is peaceful and nice
Thanks for visiting Cebu sir my home province...explore and enjoy...stay safe🤩😊
We rarely have the big, colorful jeepneys in Cebu, we have the more practical jeepneys more from Japanese cars mor than the American jeepneys, and even these are in dangered, being replaced by beeps or those big air-conditioned buses. Colon is the oldest street in the Philippines, the area is the older part of the city, plenty of Chinese businesses, similar to Binondo.
POWER ON ZANE NICE VIDEOS OF CEBU CITY NEVER BEEN HERE….💕✌️👌🙌👍👍👍
You are in old Cebu district and I think you'll make another video about it's modern district?
22:00 what you had bought is made out of young coconut leaf ...we use that to commemorate palm Sunday meaning the start of our holy week here in the Philippines which is the Sunday before Easter Sunday...we usually get them and have it blessed by our parish priest and hang it in or around the our home...same material that they use during ash Wednesday, they burn it and make it into ashes...people line up during ash Wednesday and get a mark on our forehead signifies the start of our Lenten season...24:47 "masarap" in cebuano (pronounce as zeb-one-no) lami (pronounce as lam-mee) very tasty "lamee kaayo" (lam-mee ka-a yoe)
Try exploring northern most part of Cebu. Bantayan Island. Its a good beach as well or If you like much adventure go for canyoneering downsouth of cebu or even swim with Butanding in Oslob Cebu. 🥰
ang tourism sa midwest cebu pud bai! nagsugod na pud og lambo ron.. 😊
Zane good to see you enjoying Cebu. Next time you see Mang Inasal. Try their chicken , empanada and halohalo. The bbq chicken taste way better than Jollibee which is fried.
7up chicken
At 25:44 you are entering Unit III one of the bldg. of Carbon Market, which house the fruits.
Enjoying your vlogs.. they are as if walking around there to see first hand. Chuckling a bit... go to monuments - and don't show the monument.. priceless! (the Magellan's Cross, statue). Be safe bro.. you do great stuff here! Maraming maraming salamat!
Enjoy your day in cebu and keep sage always trying viset Ormoc City too ❤️
Oh cool! You're walking near where our building is in Cebu! LOL!
You have done your research Zane...
34:37 that area looks destitute and yeah it's kinda interesting for it's extremely different from what we're used to. I will not go to that kind of places though, no but I like the historical buildings and the city center
11:41
After Cebu City, you may consider visiting Iloilo City (west of Cebu) and Baguio City (up north of Luzon).
Stay well and safe.
Cheers!
Uy thats a long distance hermano
Nice place🙂cebu,,,you can try the lechon in cebu,
dinangkal, my favorite, though its kind of sweet stuff.
Cebu is the oldest city and the first capital of the Philippines. Thx My friend.✌🏾
How feel together white the kanak happy trip
You have missed going to the Sto Niño Basilica, right beside the Magellan’s cross structure. That’s where the palaspas can be blessed. Then watch the devotees queue up to visit the Sto Niño statue. There’s also a small museum within the basilica complex
that coconut leaf cross isnt for souvenir, you came in the Lenten Holy Week in Roman Catholicism, so you're lucky there's less people as they go fasting. And that leaf cross is to be hung on the doors after its blessed with Holy Water, just FYI dude.
Happy Easter everyone ❤
Cebuano is a variant of the Visayan language which I think is more widely used & understood in the Visayas and Mindanao area.
Hi Zane enjoy cebu
Hope you'll enjoy your stsy in the Philippines
Great video 👏
Yeah
That is not a souvenir its a symbol of God preparation of his passion, death and resurrection to save our sin😢😢😢...
❤
Enjoy in my home town sir just stay safe
Kuyog ta Ninyo ~ Let's go, Santo Nino is the Child Jesus Christ. Kuyog ta Nino is a play of words implying Let's go with the child Jesus. You are in the area near the Basilica of Sto Nino, Sinulog which is a famous street festival in Cebu that inspired local festivals in other localities in the Philippines was originally a religious offering to the Sto Nino. The lukay you bought is blessed in palm Sunday. We used to keep those in our doors to fend off evil. Giving it away is kind of weird bordering on sacrilagios.
Jose Rizal is our national hero. Magellan is the first Spaniard that set foot in the island of the Philippines.
The "souvenir" you bought is going to used on Palm Sunday. People are buying those for Sunday mass on Holy week.
Several years ago, but other half and friends went to visit Cebu City. Got to check out Madgellen's Cross. But you really got to see the downtown area. Whereas I've only wandered around Ayala Mall and SM City ;-)
the MYBUS Stationed in FUENTE OSMEÑA is a FREE RIDE GOING TO SM SEASIDE MALL.
CEBUUU
Carbon Market Bagsakan means it is a wholesale market or bulk buying product o you can buy also for retail but different price ...
it’s not busy as it used ti be because it’s a holy week. try to come again after holy week, you will see 3-5x more the crowd that you’ve seen
LOL so right
There are over 170 dialects spoken in the Philippines. Cebuano is pronounced as Ce-bwa-no
Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is a Southern California company. ☕️
the jeepney you rode on isn't the "traditional" jeepney but filipinos call it jeepneys anyways because it serves the same purpose...
the original jeepneys from ww2 were actually just standard american jeeps with extended rear area, so the size was smaller than the modern traditional jeepneys...
i don't think there are surviving original ww2 custom jeeps anymore today...
all the traditional jeepneys (that still look like jeeps) now you'd see in the manila area are custom made and fabricated from scratch with engines coming from japan mostly...
the ones you see in your video are japanese light trucks converted to serve like a jeepney...
dako is big in bisaya, tulo is three. I did not see the context but they be selling example 3 for P100, selling bigger oranges at a different price.
Cebu city has evolved into a little Manila. Traffic is so bad along with air pollution.
bagsakan means drop-off location. coming from the root word bagsak means drop. that area is where they drop off any goods for them to sell for wholesale price.
Hi ilove your vedios this rhea for filipinalipstics
I dont know how they call those minibus there in Cebu, but in many parts of the Philippines they are called multicabs.
21:25 Those are called palaspas, they are only for sale on Palm Sundays (one day every year) Catholics will buy those, take them to church at Holy mass, Have the priest bless it with Holy water then bring them home, hang them on the door entrance for protection. And then next year they will bring it again at the Church to burn it and use it for ash Wednesday.
👍👍
I’m from Cebu City my friend. I’m Surprised nobody snatched that phone and go pro from your hand! Especially in Colon! You be careful next time :)
There are already lot's of vloggers in Cebu roaming around bruhh, not just him. Just be extra careful, but nothing to be scared ofm
Tagalog is NOT the traditional Filipino language. Cebuano is spoken in both two islands, Mindanao and Visayas. In Luzon, there are millions of Filipinos from Mindanao and Visayas, in short, Cebuano or Bisaya is spoken more, than Tagalog. Cebuano is also a better language because it is not repetitive, unlike Tagalog.
Thanks for letting me know!
@@zanetravel she gave you the wrong info! Tagalog was the national language of the Philippines until the government decided to give it a more technical name, Filipino, as a way to incorporate the influences of Spanish, English, and even local dialects on a broader scale.
@@nathanblue agree 👍 👍 tagalog is general language of the Philippines..its written in the books😊 bka taga cebu yan..nklagay nga sa google na official language ng Philippines TAGALOG at ingles
Tagalog is NOT the traditional language, rather it was made the National language by the Cory Aquino regime, hence the downfall of the spoken English language. The traditional languages come into around 110 languages and dialects. Commenters here seem to confuse traditional and national which is wrong. Tagalog is just another language made official by the darn Aquino regime and that's a fact. The Bongbong Administration is now returning English as the MAIN language and back to a language priority.
💛💛💛🇵🇭
"Dagko" literally means big, and "Tulo" means three, as in 3 for 20 pesos
Cebu is the first and oldest city in the Philippines
Correction: Cebu City will never be part of Cebu Province, Bruh. The city is in fact , politically independent from the provincial government (alongside Lapu-Lapu City and Mandaue City). Cebu Province comprise of 6 component cities and 44 municipalities. Nice video tho but it seems like you missed to visit its bustling CBDs, Ports, Scenic Mountain Cafés, Seaside Malls, Museum etc.
Just educate nicely lang ta kol
Dako means big or huge then tulo means three :)
Try to Tacloban City 😘
Hello and good morning Mr Nice Guy
Your Jeepney was actually a multicab
I am not a bisaya speaker but Ithink Daku means Big or great. and Tulo means Three.
Tagalog is not traditional language of the Philippines it's just one of the languages spoken. Enjoy your stay! Honestly as filipino I prefer cebu over manila. Manila is too congested 😅
Use maaung buntag, udto and gabii depending on the day
Bagsaksn means farm producrs they put there and you can buy cheapest
Please go to Baguio
22:20 😂😂 He’s like “what the?”
"What is this, Call of Duty?" 😂
Masarap (Tagalog) = Lami kaayo (Cebuano/Bisaya)
wow softdrinks tag 15 lang??? diri sa iloilo 20 na ginago
I'm disappointed in the prices for food at many of the places, like Bo's 365 php is $9.00 CAD which is about the same as I would pay in Canada for the same thing.
I lived in the cebu!! Wala ko Naka Lita Nimo
Wow, Pogi is in Cebu.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pogi 😂😂
Uyyyy I was told I was the Pogi ;)
I'm in cebu
