    been watching Mi out of doors since Fred Trost stopped hunting and ice fishing probably 8 years ago but I am grateful for all the sunrises and sunsets wouldn't trade it for anything.

    I have enjoyed Michigan Out-of-Doors for a long time and this episode was the best. Being on Thanksgiving a time for family you were able to share both hunting and how families young and old enjoy it.
    Thank you and keep it up.

    my best memories of my 53 years are deer hunting in your great State of Michigan, starting in 1981. I've been all over your Country and Michigan will always be my favourite. Happy and safe Thanksgiving, cheers from Ontario.

    Like the show but I'm confused about why there was only one episode about bow hunting when it's one thing Michigan is famous for

      Scroll through the episodes a little bit and you’ll see we’ve had four episodes with bow hunting footage. Three deer hunting episodes and one bear hunting episode. Bow hunting is always challenging to film and every year is different as far as what hunts actually make the air. We had a couple this year that didn’t go as planned. Thanks for watching!

    8:20 Hunter Safety Rule No. 1 -- NEVER point the muzzle at anything you do not intend to shoot.
    The hunter has not determined the deer is a legal buck, so he cannot ethically or legally intend to shoot it. The act of pointing your rifle at an animal can be interpreted as attempting to take the animal.
    In Hunter Safety class, we remind students of this rule _repeatedly_ .Binoculars and spotting scopes are the correct tools to use to determine whether you have an appropriate target, NOT rifle scopes.
    If I have misunderstood what is happening here, I welcome the correction.

    • @willoughby7540
      @willoughby7540 11 місяців тому +6

      Whether this is the rule or not it won't stop people like myself using the scope to see what we are looking at. Stating this point in the way you did makes you look like a crying child.

      The muzzle is always pointed somewhere you don't intend to shoot until you're on target. It's a good rule of thumb, especially for children, but not to be taken that literally. And it is perfectly legal as far as I know - have not read anything in law that says it is illegal, but I'm also ok with being corrected on that (just provide the legal reference).

    • @wdtaut5650
      @wdtaut5650 11 місяців тому

      @@nickk4851 I do not have a specific firearms example. The Michigan DNR has stated that drawing a bow on a turkey, when not in possession of a valid turkey license, constitutes an attempt to take the turkey and is a citable offense. If they are going to stand by that statement, I see no reason why they would not consider aiming a rifle at a deer as an attempt to take the deer.
