This should be their main selling point -- controlling the DAW. Nobody would buy a mixer like this for 1700 USD alone. But surprisingly, Yamaha promoted this unique feature the least! Thank you for highlighting the DAW part of DM3, although I wish you zoomed on the screen. I also wish Yamaha add a small jog/scrub wheel instead of that touch and turn knob so that we can use that in the DAW mode like Behringer x touch DAW controller which can also control DAW plugins with its 8 endless rotary knobs. I doubt Yamaha allowed the same controllability with other DAWs like Logic, Protools etc. other than their own DAW Cubase. They are very mean minded in this matter as they blocked the jog wheel function of the motif MOX workstation for non-cubase DAWs before!

If you have Cubase or other DAW software, you can do this.
While playing multitrack, you can record as multitrack again after applying DM3's DSP. Of course, you can also hear sound at the same time.

Hi! I'm using a DM3 with Cubase 13 LE Elements, but I don't get how to set it for DAW Control. The "online" signal is always grey.
I cannot find the "Mackie" or "HUI" or "Mackie HUI" option in Cubase, like the DM3 manual says, and it's driving me nuts.
I thought it was plug 'n play.
Do I need to manually set every fader or button?

When I checked in cubase Element13, if I click + in the Devices menu in Studio setup, Mackie HUI is there. Select and set up DM3!

Logic is available. I haven't tried REAPER, but if REAPER supports mackie MCU, it can be used with DM3. thank you
@@FutureMediaTube will this work on old mac pro classic with Intel high sierra Yosemite snow leopard catalina bug sur monterey, as these solid macs still run logic pro 9 and 32 bit capable versions of logic x?

@@Tigerex966 If you use Logic, it supports mackie MCU and can be used with DM3. It doesn't matter what type of cell type you have. ^^

This is a video showing DM3 and DAW Remote with an iMac and Steinberg CubasePro12 installed next to the Yamaha DM3 and a demo song prepared. This video shows that CubasePro12's fader information is reproduced as it is in DM3, and the linkage is working well by moving channels.

This is a necessary feature if you use cubase, nuendo, protools, or logic.
