Better to try and fail than not to try at all fella. My advice is don’t lose the aggression and the will to fight for wins - over time you’ll get more used to fighting at the front and instinctively rein it in a bit.
Thank you mate, yeah great advice. And also look at it with a bit of context. 12 months ago my ACC video themes were usually ‘can I get in the top 15?’. 6 months ago they were ‘can I get in the top 10?’. So it’s a good sign of progress when I view a P5 as a disappointment 😀
Another superb piece of film making. You are an absolute artist. Watching you fight your way forwards - with the inevitable setbacks - is an absolute privilege. Thanks so much for your superb content production.
Least said about race 1 the better. Race 2 had it all, excellent battles, drama, frustration, excitement, the works. Result could have been better for you, but the racing gods like to toy with our emotions. Onwards and upwards. Editing and commentary were excellent as per.
Fantastic Entertainment mate as always I could watch this all day long,i have watched you from the beginning in ACC the improvement you have made is astounding seeing the track time you get well done.
Yeah mate, I still can’t quite believe the progress I’ve made. This time last year, I think the theme in the majority of my ACC races was trying to get into the top 15. Thank you for following throughout, it’s much appreciated 😃
@@chrisrogerssimracing I expect you already know this but during the last few laps of a race with worn tyres I usually just put the TC up a notch or two maybe cost a tenth or two on corner exit but really helps imo, looking forward to your next race.
@@petermartin5197Yeah I should have known to do that, but in my excitement and with the blood pumping, I completely forgot about everything like that 🤣
Thursday morning in the office with a very well narrated race, exciting battles and amazing content Chris, hope to see you on the track for this season!
Another heck of race, good lord!! This one is filled with action, and not indicated to those who suffer from heart condictions! That last mistake really was unexpected, you deserved at least a podium finish! However this a great race to watch, thank you for the share. Hope we can face each other on LFM in the future, would be great! And keep up your fantastic commentary work, fits like a glove!
As always a great watch, 7 weeks with no sim racing, 2 more till i get to race again. Thanks for the videos, it has made my personal racing drought easier to bear!
Oof, yeah that is a long lay-off. You’ll be itching to get back on track. I sometimes have 2-3 weeks without a race, and that seems like ages. Glad I could be of help in the meantime!
Oh Chris! What a race to watch that was an epic you had in store for us this week... Like you said, lots of good to takeaway from this one and you can just blame the mechanics for the last lap ;)
Haha yes, that’s my plan! I’m definitely positive… it’s a sign of how much I’ve improved, the fact that a top 5 finish is considered a disappointment 😃 this time last year, I was struggling to get top 15s!
@@HiroschimaExcellent, it’s definitely the best way to approach it, particularly when you’re starting out. You’ll learn far more from consistent track time (rather than slinging it into the gravel like I just did!) 🤣 Good luck, it’s a fun ride :)
Personally I find that if I just hit my own marks and don't push beyond my own limits, I do much better in races. I would encourage you to do the same, just hit your own marks and what it will be it will be. Your race craft is superb to say the least and I love racing with you and watching your videos.
Wise words indeed, Adam. It would take a wise man to follow them… which clearly I wasn’t, in this one! Battling for race wins is new territory for me, so I’m still learning to find the right balance between attack and caution!
Exactly. I did it right the first time… kept myself within 0.2 or 0.3 of him at all times, not trying anything too over-enthusiastic, and let the constant pressure force him into a mistake. Second time around, it was way too rushed.
Unlucky Chris, despite the ending that was a great race! I feel you would have secured P2 were it not for your tyre condition, fair play for going for it 👍🏻
Cheers, I would also have secured P2 if I’d been happy to sit behind him and follow him home on that last lap. I knew it was unlikely I’d find a way to overtake (I’d not managed to over the previous 24 mins) but thought I’d throw everything at it!
@@whatelseb-sidesvinyl747Yeah, I was pretty fast here, but it came at a cost… I was sliding the car through a lot of the turns during the first half of the race, and it didn’t do me any favours in the latter stages!
What a close race. Yeah you had the podium safe but you tried to win. You was go for the gap but you lost it, but you had a great race with fair drivers
Haha you’re absolutely right. I got an update on the LFM website yesterday that the result had changed… the black Ferrari that started it got handed a 3-day ban for causing a mass pile-up! Ouch! 🤣
I had my head in my hands on that last lap. I knew you'd hit the brakes too late for that first incident before it happened. And that bloody corner at the top of the hill is a death trap for the unwary. Not sure if it's because the car goes a little light. Corner's maybe too slow for the wing to have an effect and too fast to keep the car planted to the ground as you come over the top. Got to be one of the most annoying corners in ACC. You had a difficult call to make. I'd probably have played safe because I know I tend to make more mistakes when I'm running close behind another car. But you knew he had mistakes in him as well, so can understand the decision to go for it.
Yeah, that was a spectacular miscalculation, going into the hairpin. Definitely a case of target fixation… so much focus on the car in front, I took my eye off my braking markers for a split second. Then the next spin, well my tyres were already struggling and they were probably dirty too from the gravel trap. Add in my frustration for the first mistake, and it’s a recipe for disaster 🤣
Hey, actually I have a fairly low end gaming PC. A basic one off the shelf from PC World. It can cope with ACC graphics settings on High mostly, but Epic is a little too much. I also dial down things like shadows, reflections and mirror distance, which all helps to make the most out of performance 👍
Chris, your front tyre temperatures were way too low. Should be aiming for 90 ish degrees. Tyres would have given more grip later in the race. Good luck with the next one.
Yeah I know mate. Tyres are a bit of a lottery for me… I don’t get chance to do any practice sessions, so qualifying before the race is the only chance I get to make some quick tyre pressure adjustments. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t!
Mistakes and bad luck are part of racing, but it gets old when shit keeps happening. Urgh! Your enthusiasm for another race is admirable - especially after this kind of disappointment.
Haha yes. My first gut instinct was to feel frustrated and disappointed, but then I quickly remembered where I was 6-12 months ago… when pretty much every ACC video was me saying “can I get into the top 15?” So to be here now, feeling like I underperformed with a P5, is a clear sign of good progress!
Oh no! Oh, well... bad luck. I guess win it or bin it means win it or bin it. And unfortunately, you didn't win it. :-P Better luck next time. At least you've shown you have the pace to challenge for wins.
Yeah, exactly how I look at it. A year ago, I was battling to get into the top 15 of my races. So it’s a sure sign of improvement, when 5th place feels like a disaster 🤣 Cheers Eric, thanks for watching
It wasn't the yellow BMWs fault, it was the ferrari behind. I know that, because I was the one driving it. The BMW got spooked by the cars in front and braked earlier than I expected and I just didn't react in time. Even got suspended for 3 days for causing a mass crash. I guess that's fair enough, feels a bit harsh considering it wasn't a big mistake or a reckless move that caused the incident, but I guess the outcome of 73 people dying as a result of my mistake is what they judged on. Either way, my bad :D
Ahh mate, unlucky. Yeah when I saw the replay from the chopper cam, I noticed you giving the BMW a nudge. I also saw the report and the ban… I thought it was a little bit harsh! I made a MUCH bigger mistake than that in a previous race with a careless rejoin, and only got a time/SR penalty. But I guess LFM are hot on clamping down on mass crashes. Tbf we can tell it’s an honest mistake… it’s so easy to run into someone when everybody is braking at different times into that corner.
@@chrisrogerssimracing I mean, it's just how S1 at nurbs GP is, gonna have to drive other tracks to get my safety rating back up because currently it looks like a stock graph for a failing company moments before bankruptcy :D
