Ok, so, as a guy who has over 3k hours in War Thunder, i must warn you, do not attempt to make any reason or sense of this game. If you do, and you start learning pen angles, mechanics, getting your binds set up, you'll see the issues with the game every time you play. So just play low tier, do some arcade stuff. Realistic is the true experience for war thunder, but it's a sweatier world, tbch.
