The fact that Elpenor and Perimedes seemingly have full on mini character arcs that have been cut make me so interested in a cut song saga, these two seem so interesting with just what we’ve seen of them
Elpenor turned his back to the world, turning cold after his death. And perinedes became the very mask he wore to protect himself, he lost his heart after the death of his two friends poli and elpenor.

Like here, he's accepting that he's the heel in the situation because he's gotta be cruel to be kind - stripping Perimedes of the lotus fruit's happiness to get him home - while _Monster_ is a darker reflection of that; rather than just being the heel, he becomes... well, the Monster.

It’s so cool how this melody was reused but it changed so much at the same time. The cut song has a really strong Hamilton/LMM vibe (especially the vocal inflections and cadence) but the Monster song we got has so many elements that are unique to Jay’s style. Love seeing how much he has grown as an artist

Every time Jay reveals a cut song or a new song or something he's made before, my mind just goes blown with how good the music is and how good the story version Jay made is.
A lot of these cut songs would still fit in the plot (in the sense that it doesn’t change the final result), it’d be cool to have like a bonus album after all the sagas come out and it could be these songs. Like side plot material,and you could put them in order and such ❤

I’m so becoming obsessed with Elpenor and Perimedes. I keep listening to their little song snippets. They would have added so much background fun to Epic. Also I was watching the video about the possibility of a cut saga and I remembered mention of a character getting cut from the lotus eaters, so it was Perimedes? xD he was everywhere

Elpenor and Perimedes are definitely my favourite side characters in Epic just from the few glimpses we've seen of them in cut chunks. And while I understand why it was needed for pacing I really wish they were kept in. I love Epic but the biggest flaw of it is that Odysseus' crew really only get to convey how they feel tangentially through Eurylochus who begins to slowly take on a more antagonistic role. And thus its harder to connect to them when we're stuck in the monstrous headspace of Odysseus. I didn't come out of the Thunder Saga feeling an excess of pity for the crew and Eurylochus, I felt more bitter on Odysseus' behalf, and why that's not a flaw per se I'm not sure if that was what Jorge was going for? Elpenor and Perimedes are so human. They have real problems and friendships and wants. Perimedes struggles with self-worth and depression, Elpenor feels neglected. While I enjoy some of the comical takes on Elpenor's death I think Simplyghoulery's version is just so tragic. He's not mad he died. He's not mad at all even. He's not blaming Odysseus for his death. He's just sad nobody cared as a result of how many deaths Odysseus allowed happen. They allow us as an audience to ground ourselves after all the magic and brutality of the War, Cyclops and Poseidon. If there's anything I want after Epic's main sagas are done it's not a stage production it's more development of these two in their own saga and by extension the crew. If we do get a Cut Saga I hope it's not spent re-treading old ground with songs like "Ismarus" (as much as I love that song) and old drafts of current songs. I think it's important to say that I don't write this out of dislike at all but instead for the sheer passion I have for Epic and Jorge's work.
I want to favorite and bookmark this comment cause yeah this envelops the feelings I've been having, and especially after Thunder Saga. That saga didn't hit in the same way, but gods it hurt so much too still. I think the other issue is we're only getting the song parts, and not the actual Broadway/stage parts, the talky/narrative parts that bridge the songs together. We get some stage direction in the livestreams to give us context, but it's not enough unless one already knows the original material-or have discovered Epic early enough to have heard the cut songs/early drafts before. (I just only discovered EPIC in the last 10 months and ever so grateful for it.) But I also understand that Jorge just needs to get it complete, so that he can work on those other things, and I'm sure the issues with having the original recordings of the first few sagas being taken from him and having to redo it so it's his own again didn't help things out. But I definitely believe in Jorge and his crew. One can love a thing and still have opinions and critiques. We shouldn't all be just loving everything *JUST* because. And I think it'll help Jorge grow if ever reads this deep into the comments. Cause that's how we grow as artists and creators, we need to know where we can improve and then we can decide if that's where we want to. XD

And I also agree that the problems he has with BRP didn't help much, we can only support and hope that Jay uses the Cut Saga intelligently, To give us songs that help us connect better with the characters to cry more comfortably
I think a song like this is a good idea because it makes the crew feel more human which might make other parts feel more impactful. Also I hate to compare to hamilton but hamilton pulls off having lots of characters, which i like. I also get that epic has a TON of plot to cover so you have to cut some stuff but i think these types of songs are important.
I came back to listen to this again for fun, and it hit me that the way the backup chorus worked in this song is how it works in Not Sorry For Loving You. I have to wonder if it was intentional or just a coincidence?

Brother i would be so happy if after all this is done and we got another track of all the cut songs, would just be an amazing way to showcase all the hard work and dedication that you've put into this whole project. I'm loving every minute of epic and it's become my number 1 work soundtrack. I know every word of every song and these cut tracks are some of the most interesting since we only know a portion of what was written.
This cut song explains why Elpenor was so angry at Ody when he found him in the Underworld, why would Odysseus care if he accidentally died when he didn’t care if Perimedes was happy

Man after hearing Thunder Saga the line of Odysseus having a mission that he can’t allow himself to compromise hits wildly hard. Knowing that the course of this adventure broke him down so much that eventually he did compromise, knowing fully well he had to do it out of selfishness
I love the fact that Odysseus cares for his crew, he addresses them by their names in “The Horse and the infant” but even if Perimedes was depressed Odysseus couldn’t just leave him as that would be abandoning someone he cares about. Even if this was a cut song it portrays that the crew does care for each other.

A lot of these cut songs would still fit in the plot (in the sense that it doesn’t change the final result), it’d be cool to have like a bonus album after all the sagas come out and it could be these songs. Like side plot material,and you could put them in order and such ❤

someone wrote in the comments once that Jorge writes the songs in a very fun and melodic way, then rewrites them with "hm.. how would this be with angst?", reviews and adds even more angst then repeats the last two.. I absolutely agree with that person. look at how boppy this song is man! still hits hard but the vibess(dont get me wrong I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the current EPIC)

Elpenor and Perimedes are definitely my favourite side characters in Epic just from the few glimpses we've seen of them in cut chunks. And while I understand why it was needed for pacing I really wish they were kept in. I love Epic but the biggest flaw of it is that Odysseus' crew really only get to convey how they feel tangentially through Eurylochus who begins to slowly take on a more antagonistic role. And thus its harder to connect to them when we're stuck in the monstrous headspace of Odysseus.
I didn't come out of the Thunder Saga feeling an excess of pity for the crew and Eurylochus, I felt more bitter on Odysseus' behalf, and why that's not a flaw per se I'm not sure if that was what Jorge was going for?
Elpenor and Perimedes are so human. They have real problems and friendships and wants. Perimedes struggles with self-worth and depression, Elpenor feels neglected. While I enjoy some of the comical takes on Elpenor's death I think Simplyghoulery's version is just so tragic. He's not mad he died. He's not mad at all even. He's not blaming Odysseus for his death. He's just sad nobody cared as a result of how many deaths Odysseus allowed happen. They allow us as an audience to ground ourselves after all the magic and brutality of the War, Cyclops and Poseidon.
If there's anything I want after Epic's main sagas are done it's not a stage production it's more development of these two in their own saga and by extension the crew. If we do get a Cut Saga I hope it's not spent re-treading old ground with songs like "Ismarus" (as much as I love that song) and old drafts of current songs. I think it's important to say that I don't write this out of dislike at all but instead for the sheer passion I have for Epic and Jorge's work.
I want to favorite and bookmark this comment cause yeah this envelops the feelings I've been having, and especially after Thunder Saga. That saga didn't hit in the same way, but gods it hurt so much too still. I think the other issue is we're only getting the song parts, and not the actual Broadway/stage parts, the talky/narrative parts that bridge the songs together. We get some stage direction in the livestreams to give us context, but it's not enough unless one already knows the original material-or have discovered Epic early enough to have heard the cut songs/early drafts before. (I just only discovered EPIC in the last 10 months and ever so grateful for it.) But I also understand that Jorge just needs to get it complete, so that he can work on those other things, and I'm sure the issues with having the original recordings of the first few sagas being taken from him and having to redo it so it's his own again didn't help things out. But I definitely believe in Jorge and his crew.
One can love a thing and still have opinions and critiques. We shouldn't all be just loving everything *JUST* because. And I think it'll help Jorge grow if ever reads this deep into the comments. Cause that's how we grow as artists and creators, we need to know where we can improve and then we can decide if that's where we want to. XD
@@xDianaMoonx I think I remember Jorge saying somewhere he wants Epic to be able to be conveyed through only its songs, meaning no normal talking scenes. Which could be cool If it worked but I'm not sure if it will.

And I also agree that the problems he has with BRP didn't help much, we can only support and hope that Jay uses the Cut Saga intelligently, To give us songs that help us connect better with the characters to cry more comfortably

I think a song like this is a good idea because it makes the crew feel more human which might make other parts feel more impactful. Also I hate to compare to hamilton but hamilton pulls off having lots of characters, which i like. I also get that epic has a TON of plot to cover so you have to cut some stuff but i think these types of songs are important.
I would bring a big bag of lotus fruits with us so Perimedes could eat them during our journey home.
I came back to listen to this again for fun, and it hit me that the way the backup chorus worked in this song is how it works in Not Sorry For Loving You. I have to wonder if it was intentional or just a coincidence?

Brother i would be so happy if after all this is done and we got another track of all the cut songs, would just be an amazing way to showcase all the hard work and dedication that you've put into this whole project. I'm loving every minute of epic and it's become my number 1 work soundtrack. I know every word of every song and these cut tracks are some of the most interesting since we only know a portion of what was written.

Man after hearing Thunder Saga the line of Odysseus having a mission that he can’t allow himself to compromise hits wildly hard. Knowing that the course of this adventure broke him down so much that eventually he did compromise, knowing fully well he had to do it out of selfishness
I love the fact that Odysseus cares for his crew, he addresses them by their names in “The Horse and the infant” but even if Perimedes was depressed Odysseus couldn’t just leave him as that would be abandoning someone he cares about. Even if this was a cut song it portrays that the crew does care for each other.
The people he addresses in The Horse and the Infant aren't his crew. They're all other Captains or soldiers of the different armies

(at least I'm assuming that's who it is as I don't know of a "Neo" is the Iliad, and given that he says "avenge your father" is would make sense given that by then Achilles is dead, killed by Paris- a brother of Hector)
