But did you know that each and every single fold has a special meaning behind it?
At a recent golf event in the St. Louis area benefiting Folds Of Honor, Phil Rudder, a Marine Corps veteran, read what each specific fold means.

I found it. So there you are. After Taps is played, the flag is carefully folded into the symbolic tri-cornered shape. A properly proportioned flag will fold 13 times on the triangles, representing the 13 original colonies. The folded flag is emblematic of the tri-cornered hat worn by the Patriots of the American Revolution
I found this but I need to do more research since a date i snot provided when this so called tradition started. "Public Law 94-344 does not place any significance or meaning to the thirteen folds of the American flag, however, the ceremonial folding and presentation of the flag has proven to be a moving tribute of lasting importance to Americans and has become an adopted tradition. The folded flag is emblematic of the tri-cornered hat worn by the Patriots of the American Revolution. When folded, no red or white stripe is to be evident, leaving only the blue field with stars. "

Wow, I'm a veteran and I've never heard this before. I do have love and respect for our nations flag. There is no power on this earth to make me change my beliefs in our once great nation. For I took an oath in 1983, now my body is shot, but my heart is still in the fight for America. If you don't like it here then please leave! I will defend our nation to my dying breath!

I am all for that one. One will be in jail soon after 40 years of crimes. Criminals should not be allowed to run for office. We have so many in my state with criminal records but elected year after year Vile.

No offense... but this was just something someone made up. People started doing all this symbolism stuff back in the early 2000's and now everyone thinks they're some "age old tradition." It's nice and all, but the folds don't really mean anything.
I have no idea where you're from but you really need to find a book about the American flag. Oh wait, you do need to read it, if that is possible for you. Otherwise, maybe someone could read it to you.

1: Virginia
2: New York
3: Massachusetts Harbor
4: Maryland
5: Rhode Island
6: Connecticut
7: New Hampshire
8: Delaware
9: North Carolina
10: South Carolina
11: New Jersey
12: Pennsylvania
13: Georgia
The idea that the folds actually stand for anything comes from a document trying to deliberately ascribe meaning to the act of folding the flag into a triangle, and the first mention of anything relevant in this video comes from President Bill Clinton in 1998. For a time honored tradition, you are likely older than it.

The world you live in would have no structure and people would have little reason to survive their suffering and pain if not for the people who believe in something. It can be anything as long as it isn’t them. That’s the ultimate lesson. It’s ironic that some people think it is a higher consciousness to dismiss belief as primitive thinking. As if being simply a body and a mind is the only achievement.
