  • Here is a look at my truck camping setup. I have had this truck camper setup for around 3 years in my Ram 1500. Mainly just a weekend warrior setup but looking to upgrade my truck camping build in the future!

Man, I’d keep the shell you have. You could glue some foam board in between the frame members, then cover it in speaker carpet. Also, you could cut a window in the doors on the other side if you needed to. I’d much rather have the doors than a tailgate for serious camping.

That’s where I’m torn. I’d like the tailgate just as an easy table. But as far as everything else I like the doors. I like the one side not having windows kinda since that’s the side I sleep on. I don’t know. Haha. The perfect shell for the right price would have to come along to get me to switch.

Love the setup 👌. I am looking far the same type of cap with the doors to put on my Tacoma and do something similar to your setup.

Sweet setup. Does the shell ever drip on you from condensation?

Yes when colder or wet outside this style shell gets a ton of condensation. I’m either going to do something to stop that or looking at a fiberglass shell. I kinda want my tailgate back.

I'm very interested in your truck.
Where did you get the shell camper. And what did it cost? there in Utah. Is it available in Rush valley or St George???
I'm trying to decide to have camper shell aluminum or soft top.
    Please get back to me.
    Thank you. Will Brown

I purchased it on KSL classifieds used for $300 if I remember correctly.

Hi, the screws from the rack won't loosen with the vibrations? I have the idea to build a "elevating roof" on the top and the installations is pretty similar.

I used nylon thread locking nuts. Didn’t have any issues with the rack staying bolted to the roof.

How did you get the windows in the one side of the cap?
