Are you going to join me for this one?! 👋🏼😍🎄 This year has brought big changes for hubby and me and it’s inspired me to let go of what no longer serves us! Join me for ONE HOUR of hygge decluttering as I simplify, and make room for our new life and what truly matters. We will be chatting about sentimental decorations and Danish traditions - a fun walk down memory lane. And what is coming up next month! As always, THANK YOU so much for subscribing and sharing my videos!
Diane, I love how clear-headed and practical you are about decluttering quite sentimental items. It has really helped me be more realistic about some of the things I've been holding onto. Thank you. 💕
Normally I would not sit for an hour and watch someone go through their Christmas stuff bit by bit but you are so entertaining to watch and very much enjoyed it! Good job!
There is nothing so joyfull as receiving a Xmas Card from somebody you havn't heard from since last year. You can also give to Charity but love this tradition.❤
I have been binge watching your videos and you really inspired me to get back on track with decluttering. I have always decluttered a little as I go along, but yesterday I decided that I was done with excessive seasonal decor, thrifting for entertainment, buying crafting supplies for things I will probably never do and living with excess. I even returned over $150 worth of things to Hobby Lobby today. Yesterday I cleaned out the attic and let go of a large Christmas tree, two boxes of ornaments, a box of greenery, miscellaneous. decor items and all of my autumn decor. I now have a small tree and just 4 Boxes of decor items for the holidays. I feel so light and free! Thanks so much for the 8nspiration!❤
The mystery of the world tea towels shortage is solved, Diane you have them all 🎄😉 this is a great idea to declutter before Christmas, usually do it after when putting everything away
I managed to declutter some Christmas decorations last year. I too store decorations by room . I'm now in a bungalow, so don't need as many, although I do miss having my stairs garland and lights. Love your cheerfulness on every video despite how you might be feeling, I know it can be very draining doing all these videos and editing, so very much appreciate how you're so committed to encouraging us. Bless you. 🎉🎉🎉
I will declutter my Christmas boxes tomorrow. You’ve made it incredibly easy for me because we think along the same lines and also because we have so many of the same decorations! 😂
Im so impressed that you stay so focused, Diane! You obviously have a very clear vision of your apartment life. I will use your energy to reflect on what I would like my future Christmas' to be like.
I am very far advanced in all this I have realised by watching. I have done all this before over the years. I did not realise how much. I have 2 smaller bins and one bigger for the Christmas tree. Nice to watch you though, want to keep in the spirit of it. I have downsized to the apartment already, 5 years ago. My DS's 26 and 32. I feel a little sad. Yes, mostly glass baubles and lost a few expensive ones they shatter if they hit anything. I love the way it goes in too, childhood memory reminds me of chocolate.
I get you!! My DS is 40 and 5 DDs: 39, 37, 35, 34 & 32-- all with families and homes of their own. We downsized to a single level home, but focused on the location so we're in the midst of an active, friendly neighborhood. I still feel alone a lot, but I'm enjoying what I can. The only thing is that I'm now in my biggest decluttering layer that I've ever done. It's so emotional going through old items that bring back such memories. Hard to remember that getting rid of the item won't get rid of the memory! But we're doing it! Good job, BTW!! 😊
aww... I gave the kid's 'home mades' to them when they left home... My son now has his own children and it was nice showing them what daddy made when he was little.
I like celebrating on the 24th too. 🎄 Gosh, Diane, now I want to REclutter. I miss having boxes of decorations (and a garage to keep them in). I just love that candle ring you have on probation. Hope to see it again this season! 🕯️
I decluttered Christmas decorations last year. I had some lovely ornaments my daughter made the first year she was married and did a lot of crafting. I packed them up and sent them to her so her family could enjoy them and evoke some pleasant memories fo her. I also gave my daughter-in-law some really nice wreaths as she really enjoys decorating for Christmas. As we don't put up outdoor lights anymore we donated what we had to Habitat for Humanity Re-Store. I like to think that someone else could make use of and enjoy these items. Now we use candles in the window and I think they look cosy and are so pretty. Everything looks so bare for awhile once they are taken down. I would say no to the pink t-shirt, not chic but yes to the pretty white sparkley house with the candle. One year we had our tree up but not decorated and when we got up in the morning our cat was up in the tree, thank goodnes we had it tied to some hooks to keep it secure, he also liked to bat at the ornaments on the lower branches. It will be interesting to see what mischief Kiko gets up to, such a cutie.
As our family have all flown the nest long ago, we don't put up a lot of decorations, just a Christmas tree, crib and table decoration, so I really need to get rid of the rest. Think I'll do that while watching the rest of the video. I'm really enjoying it. Thank you Diane.
The sheer volume of possessions you have still amazes me!!!! But I did an hour with you today and have thrown away, and got things for donation. I also checked my clothes and my Holiday Control Journal.
Hi Diane! I am happy to report that because of my recent clothing declutter, I have empty clear plastic bins to replace the green Christmas bins that I can't see through! Looking forward to decluttering decorations tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration and for the reminder that spending time with friends is better than STUFF 🌲
I was doing a major declutter of my garage closet in June so I went through all my Christmas stuff then. I got it down from 8 bins to 4 plus three small Christmas trees . At the 1st of September I sent 4 bins plus a 7 ft. tree to the Resale shop where my hubby volunteers. That is when they set up their Christmas room. I love seeing all the Danish decorations and handmade items.❤️❤️❤️
Loved this video.. I am so NOT ready to let go of quite THAT much, but there are things that can go.. maybe fill one box with stuff to go out the door. Thanks for inspiring -- Monique
Keep going. Small steps in the right direction makes a big journey. I am decluttering for four years now and I never forced myself to do much. It was always more than I expected and I needed multiple rounds to really see the difference. First steps are always the hardest. I am very proud of you!
This video will be very helpful to so many people Diane. I did a big declutter after Christmas last year, boxed up what I no longer need/ want wrote donate Nov/Dec 2024 on it and it is on a shelf in the garage just waiting to be taken to the thrift store. My motivation for doing this was from watching your decluttering videos 🎉🎉🎉
Wowza!! Excellent job! You look so happy and relieved to have decluttered so many things. It was fun to go along with you down memory lane 🙂 I have many old ornaments from my parents that were bought sometime around 1959 or 1960. So far I haven't had any problems with them and hopefully nothing will happen to them because I use them on my tree.
Thank you for this hour video! Going to declutter my Christmas tree tub along with you!!! It's been such a hard week, but every area I can declutter just makes me feel so much lighter and better able to manage! Thank you and God bless!
such an inspiration Diane. You were able to reminisce about the memories associated with your decor and then let them go. I hope that will be me one day as I have 10 Christmas totes and need to declutter by half. I love your statement that you can still love something but acknowledge that it is time to let someone else love it. You always inspire me, and my life is better for you being a part of it, You're such a blessing to us.😀
You did a great job of decluttering Diane. I declutter Christmas items every year. Now you have inspired me to get them all out tomorrow and go through everything again. Really enjoyed this video and all of the back stories!
I, too, have some vintage tree ornaments but have never had one combust. I have been using them on my tree but maybe should display them more carefully like you.
Thank you Diane for doing this one! I am going through all my Christmas decor and there's a bunch of it! I'm so excited to have all that extra room when I'm finished! Yeah!!!
Forever grateful for all your hard work, that has got me through some tough times. Watching while walking the treadmill at the gym. Returning home to spend some time decluttering the living room. Enjoying Christmas prep.
I really really enjoyed this video. I loved going down memory lane with you and hearing all the stories behind all your decorations. You've giving me so much inspiration to look at my decorations in a new light and kind of made it ok in my mind to get rid of things, even if there older or have memories attached to them. Its the memories we keep close to our hearts, not the object. I'm looking forward to going through the holidays with you. I absolutely love all the Danish traditions you share with us. Every year I re-watch your older Christmas videos to get me into the holiday spirit.
I have about 14 old glass ornaments from the 50's which I display in a silver bowl which my grandparents received many years ago for their silver anniversary. With Christmas being such a family time, I like that nod to the past. I get so many compliments and really they take up so little space... for me they are well worth keeping. Good luck making your decision!
Thank you for another inspiring video. Looking forward to going through our Christmas decorations over the weekend. I have got it down to three tubs last year, so you have inspired me to aim for two totes and I will give the excess to the charity shop soon 🎄
Fantastic, Diane! ⭐️ Well done! ⭐️🎄 You really inspired me to get up and decluttering so paused you halfway and attacked my winter woollies!! 🧶 Now have a bagful to take to the charity shop tomorrow! 👍 It’s a major operation to retrieve the decorations from the loft so that will need to wait for another day!! 🤪 Thanks for the motivation! 🎅🏼
I have a collection of Santa hats. I hang them up all over the house and I wear a different one every day. Now my adult kids want a collection of hats too. My collection doubles as decor and accessories!
Loved this longer video - especially since I have tons of individual ornaments to sort and declutter. I inherited many of my sister’s special tree ornaments. I will get into the ornaments tomorrow. It will be my third pass through them and I need to get rid of 30% more.
I decluttered lots of Christmas decorations last year. This year I will reevaluate as I decorate. Today my focus is prepping food for our church Homecoming (240 years). Lots of chopping getting done as I listened and peeked at your video.
we dont have any from when we grew up. my mom passed when i was 14. my dad met and married a woman who didnt want us to remember anything from our mom. (stupid, you cant erase memories) but she threw out all the decorations that we had including all the ones we made as kids. 😢😢😢. us kids made many felt ornaments and we glued beads and sequins on. it still hurts. I'm 63.
Oh, what a story! I'm sorry you had to go through such pain being so young! A friend of mine doesn't have any Christmas decorations back from her childhood too, but she keeps hunting for the same/similar pieces at thrift and antique shops and I have given her some of my old decorations which I have duplicates of. Anyway, memories are what matters, not things, you're right.
You did a fantastic job! We did our decluttering before we moved to France 9 years ago, and I just have 1 box I've saved for my son. Your vintage decorations reminded me of my childhood ones as well! Can't wait to see the elf again, and your ZZ Top gnomes make my husband and I chuckle every year!
Wonderful! Christmas is really the only holiday I decorate, so I have a fair amount. Got rid of some items last year but I have 2 garland for sure to donate, Thanks again for another helpful video!
Wow. Great video! I was able to sit on the couch with my feet up and a nice coffee and watch the whole video because I decluttered all my Christmas stuff 3 weeks ago, lol! Thanks for the 'rest.' 😄♥
Fun video Diane! I decluttered my Christmas items x 2 last year, but will do another round this season. Just like peeling an onion; there is always more that can be parted with. I donated a Christmas musical carousel to our local nursing home & I hope the residents enjoy it. Love your little crocheted pieces and thoroughly enjoyed hearing about your traditions.
We had some similar lights in our back garden - the squirrels nibbled them very quickly! I hope your red squirrels are better behaved that the greys we have!!
We had a Rudolph like the one from your DDDFIL. Like your dad, my mom wrapped each item in tissue paper before packing it away. But she went one step further and dusted it before wrapping!! We had lots of the glass ornaments but I wasn't able to use them because of young kids and pets, so I eventually donated them to charity. Sad, but hopefully someone is enjoying them.
I joined you this morning while getting dinner put together for tonight so that I could hear your process and then I will join you again when I declutter my own things. Thanks so much.
Hi Diane! You look festive and fun! Great job decluttering. I am working along side you. I am going to go through my decorations again. Kiko is adorable! I talk to myself all the time when I am decluttering 🤣 When I pack up, I just put stuff in the box. I do have a few breakable items that I wrap, but most just get popped in the box. Awesome job on the decluttering! I really enjoyed this! I hope you have a good rest of your week!
Well done, Diane 🎉 I’ll join you later on the weekend. We didn’t put up a tree last year and didn’t miss it at all. I had a nice branch in a big vase which we loved.
Yeah, thank you for the inspirational video! I made cookies for my daughter’s sweet 16th birthday while the video was playing….I can’t wait to decorate for Christmas! Blessings to you. ♥️
I generally declutter Christmas decor directly after the holiday. Two years ago I had my two kids work with me so I'd not donate things they still want, and did a large cull. We still have more than we need. This year I'll decorate early, and declutter as soon as I've finished so I can donate before the holiday.
You did a great job decluttering so much Diane, it really helps when we've had a shift in our perspective/mindset and can let our things go & wish them well 😊
Wonderful video. I went through all our Christmas decorations. Fixed some easily mended ones, threw away ones that were too broken and have a bag to go to the charity shop.Thank you for getting me motivated.
Great video Diane. Good fun and lifted my spirits. Thank you. I'm working hard trying to get a bit of space for the walking aids I've got to depend on. Every box or bag that goes out the door makes me feel such a sense of achievement. I will get William to help me declutter the Christmas stuff next week. It is a brilliant idea to do it now so others can get the benefit of affordable charity shop items. Thanks for the reminder.
Are you going to join me for this one?! 👋🏼😍🎄 This year has brought big changes for hubby and me and it’s inspired me to let go of what no longer serves us! Diane, I love how clear-headed and practical you are about decluttering quite sentimental items. It has really helped me be more realistic about some of the things I've been holding onto. Thank you. 💕
One of the things that I love so much about your videos is your joy.
Normally I would not sit for an hour and watch someone go through their Christmas stuff bit by bit but you are so entertaining to watch and very much enjoyed it! Good job!
COOKIE CUTTERS That’s the American word you were looking for with your cookie forms 😊
I’m using natural greens..can compost them after and less to store..I can get them from the trees on my property, too…
I have my parents shiny brite and other vintage ornaments displayed in a hurricane candle holder.
I'm already down to one Christmas tub & a very small silver Christmas tree.🌟
I love getting a chance to declutter with you in these longer videos.
There is nothing so joyfull as receiving a Xmas Card from somebody you havn't heard from since last year. You can also give to Charity but love this tradition.❤
I am like your dear old Dad Diane! Every bauble is individually wrapped!! 😂😂
Well done Diane, a BIG pat on the back for you. You've done amazingly 🎉🎉🎉
I have been binge watching your videos and you really inspired me to get back on track with decluttering. Well done, Michelle - it feels so GOOD doesn't it?! Rah, rah, rah to you and here's to your continuing success!
Good for you! It is a freeing feeling to let go of things🎉
You are inspiring!
Bravo to you!
That's really brave and sounds like a start of a new season of life. Let it be happy for you!
Oh how I loved seeing your Christmas decorations and hearing the stories about them. Thank you ❤

It's very therapeutic to declutter and like you , it's memories and people that matter most. 🎉🎉🎉
I have some old family ornaments and decided to put them in a shadow box so we can enjoy them without worrying about them breaking.
That's a great idea, thanks, Allison! 👏🤩🤩🤩
I will declutter my Christmas boxes tomorrow. You’ve made it incredibly easy for me because we think along the same lines and also because we have so many of the same decorations! 😂

Wonderful decluttering job Diane. Congrats! Loved seeing your son's sweet cat checking out the lovebirds!
Glad you enjoyed it, Diane! Kiko is much bolder now so we are wondering what he will get up to this Christmas! Ha ha!
@@DianeinDenmark I am guessing that he will climb the tree! He will definitely need to be superivsed! 😂
Ooh! Helene's orange kitty cat is soooo fluffy and squishy! 🥰
aww... I gave the kid's 'home mades' to them when they left home... My son now has his own children and it was nice showing them what daddy made when he was little.

Such fun to watch. Congratulations on weeding down to so few bins. Bet it feels great!!
Best wishes, always.
Our kids are almost exactly the same ages! Loved all of this! Thank you so much
I was doing a major declutter of my garage closet in June so I went through all my Christmas stuff then. I got it down from 8 bins to 4 plus three small Christmas trees . Doing my morning routine while whatching and slowly getting into my routines again. Thank you so much for your help. Babette

I decluttered my tissue papers. I let go of the ones I probably wouldn’t reuse ♻️
such an inspiration Diane. You were able to reminisce about the memories associated with your decor and then let them go. Hope the Elf returns this year - I loved that last year! 🧝 ❤
Loved the Elf too! So much fun imagining what the little one can be up to based on what we see in front of their door😊
You did a great job of decluttering Diane. I declutter Christmas items every year. Now you have inspired me to get them all out tomorrow and go through everything again. Really enjoyed this video and all of the back stories!

Forever grateful for all your hard work, that has got me through some tough times. Watching while walking the treadmill at the gym. Returning home to spend some time decluttering the living room. Enjoying Christmas prep.
Some of the old toys and decorations look spooky to our descendants, but it brings back good memory feelings t my husband and me.
I love our Diane ❤
I really really enjoyed this video. I loved going down memory lane with you and hearing all the stories behind all your decorations.
You've giving me so much inspiration to look at my decorations in a new light and kind of made it ok in my mind to get rid of things, even if there older or have memories attached to them. Its the memories we keep close to our hearts, not the object.

I have a large hurricane candle holder to display the ornaments from my Mom that were used in the 50s and 60s on our family tree
That's so nice!
Oh, thanks for a great idea! I have a huge crystal bowl too, might be nice to display both the bowl and some really old and precious ornaments.
Thank you for another inspiring video. Looking forward to going through our Christmas decorations over the weekend. I have got it down to three tubs last year, so you have inspired me to aim for two totes and I will give the excess to the charity shop soon 🎄
Great motivation to get organised in advance and use what we have❤
So glad u kept the snowflake house...I loved seeing that lit. ❄️☃️
Great job Diane and I loved your P.G. Wodehouse Wooster reference!!
Truly enjoyed this video today . Thank you
Worked along with you, but decluttered my Halloween decor! That was fun 😊
Oh my gosh I have been so excited for this video🎉 I love all your videos but your long videos are excellent!
Rah, rah, rah! 😍😍😍
Fantastic, Diane! ⭐️ Well done! ⭐️🎄
You really inspired me to get up and decluttering so paused you halfway and attacked my winter woollies!! 🧶 Now have a bagful to take to the charity shop tomorrow! 👍

I have been decluttering Christmas decor over the past few months. ❤
What a joyful Christmassy declutter, very inspiring, many thanks🎄🇬🇧x
My dog didn't like the squeaking on the stacking santas😂, I'm enjoying these inspirational videos, new to your channel
you will need those storage bins when you move, lots of great tips, thanks
Yes, I'm keeping them for the move! 😁
I love to see how you love your kids stuff and personal decoration. Those are the most important ones. ❤
Feels like Diane is back. Going to do my decorations with the same freedom!!

Oh, and the beautiful red hearts crafted by your MIL were crocheted :)
Wow. Great video! I was able to sit on the couch with my feet up and a nice coffee and watch the whole video because I decluttered all my Christmas stuff 3 weeks ago, lol! Thanks for the 'rest.' 😄♥

So inspirational! I’m excited to started on my bins. Thank you Diane 🎄
I joined you this morning while getting dinner put together for tonight so that I could hear your process and then I will join you again when I declutter my own things. Thanks so much.
I'll update my hygge basket. And check if our Christmas lights still work
So glad you decided to keep the little white house!
Loved this video! Gonna get to my Christmas stuff this weekend!🎄
I love when you go through your stuff!!! It's therapy for me!!
My uncle made glugg every year! 🎄
I generally declutter Christmas decor directly after the holiday. Two years ago I had my two kids work with me so I'd not donate things they still want, and did a large cull. We still have more than we need. This year I'll decorate early, and declutter as soon as I've finished so I can donate before the holiday.
I started to declutter Christmas things and put aside the things for the children to look through and well my unhelpful helper joined the area
And is in the box for them or maybe she doesn't want me to get rid of it 😂
You did a great job decluttering so much Diane, it really helps when we've had a shift in our perspective/mindset and can let our things go & wish them well 😊
We have an advent (countdown) candle every year, I love them.
I love all the red and white decorations, lovely.
You are very blessed with your besties. Love all you get up to around the holidays.
Wonderful video. I went through all our Christmas decorations. Fixed some easily mended ones, threw away ones that were too broken and have a bag to go to the charity shop.Thank you for getting me motivated.
You did very well ..❤
This was fun to watch. Good job!
