A lot of people seem to hate it. Personally I loved the tower defense mechanic the original had where hordes were constantly heading towards your base and you had to set up outposts to kill them. This looks like an even crazier version of that.
Note for you, Sunny Games: "magic ammo" was a joking way to refer to the fact that the type of ammo that will drop will "magically" be the correct kind for the gun you are currently using
It’s amazing that there’s still updates for this beautiful game and yet they’re still making another game on top of that. The hard work shows that they care.
W Change. Having to try to bait those damn ferals into attacking, while on top of a car to get their head in view on the roll. Only for them to roar 80 times in the process, bringing every zombie in an 8 country radius. Forcing me to use a CLEO drone.
I tend to use my drone strikes to help with juggies. For ferals I either avoid them actively whenever I can, or, use a vehicle burning too much gas to kill them 😂
@Kexetey I mean, they released the trailer for SOD3 awhile back. It makes no sense to have the majority of your creative team creatinf and making huge new updates for SOD2 when SOD3 has already been confirmed to be worked on
Looks great. Hope the next update expands on human enemies though. For example getting ambushed out on the road, having groups raid your base if you don’t meet their demands etc.
My speculation is that they want to release this update close to the Xbox showcase and make a whole state of decay announcement publicly, maybe even get a trailer for SOD3. It's turning out the way they announced the Juggernaut edition because we all didn't know that would be a thing until it dropped; same with this update. I could be wrong but when Brant said the date was subject to change again made me inclined to believe that Xbox might have some announcements this summer that we could get excited for since we really didn't hear anything from them last year and so far this year.
Considering the ‘horde coming defend base’ timer is 10 minutes… I wouldn’t mind that lol… it would make Lethal games much more interesting…. You got one base for farming one base for electric and water another for gas…. Then you have your main base loaded with sniper towers or so on n so forth
The stealth addition for no awaking the plague hearts is a big quality of life update. It was so frustrating losing our reward for being cautious, this feels like we still get rewarded and then some for caution
Those incendiary mines are a really nice callback to the Og state of decay. I remember having outposts covering all of Spencer’s Mill to protect my base at the Kirkman Residence
I really hope they had one day the option to barricade your windows like in the first game and an option to renforce your wall to stop the climbing zombie and freaks
I don't understand why they're making such a big change to the core gameplay when the game's been out for so long. This could have easily been a new game mode instead. Edit: I probably should have been more specific. I like the update and have been holding off on playing specifically so I can do the rest of my boons with this mechanic. I'm just saying if it was an entire new game mode or modifier, everyone would have been happier. Changing the core of the game this late in the game's life ruins the game for people who enjoy it in its current state. That's the entire point of my comment. Hopefully now people won't respond only to the first half of my original comment.
I kinda have my theory that we are game testing for SOD3 and features that we could see there but only more elaborate in the next game. Just a guess based on very little on my end though
I just hope they extend how much time you need per enclave mission, i swear they bombard you with missions to do or else they leave, plus clearing infestation hordes plus going home cause of a siege, there are times where im always driving xD

question does anyone know if there's gonna be an update that'll make it so when you end up driving into a car while driving a car or van or something other then the rigs and trailers that you actually knock them around and don't just stop you in your tracks?
I’m wondering how the haven device will effect these new sieges. Also praying that sod2 doesn’t become this anti-infestation fest. I hope it’s balanced correctly. But that heaven device is a big concern. I wonder if it’s still a crutch or if it’s now more of a slight aid on those higher tier sieges
How about they fix how much other communities whine at you for stuff? The number one thing that always makes me quit this and last game is the amount of whining from other communities. It's like they can't function without you. And if you don't help them, they can turn into enemies or leave the map, after 2 failed requests. Look, I'm too busy taking care of my own community, I''m not going to want to also take care of other communities. I'll be out getting supplies for my base and low and behold, the meds i'm bringing home is the very same thing 2 other communities want. I get burnt out on helping them. I swear, I can't do things for myself or my base for 10 minutes without some begging. It would be fine if they would ask for stuff very week or something, not upwards of 2 times a in-game day. And fix zombies and special zombies spawning in "safe" zones. I've literally seen them spawn in safe zone bubble, hundred's of times.
they need to add opinions to turn off some settings like plague territories ever since that update this game has been removing the chill factor more and more this is a game i played to chill and relax do things at my own pace now its do this now or pay for it later on
I recently started playing this game again with a friend and wasn't at all aware it was still getting these kinds of updates. But definitely glad to hear it!
I forgot to mention the Haven Device in this video! Apparently its still going to work in some good capacity but not full out prevent sieges. It wasn't showcased though so not sure how it looks in the new update!

@@arvintob So I just upgraded from xbox 1 to xbox series X. I've found that about 60% of the time, I can get all but 2 of my community members to help with sieges. So i think the Series x helps out the program some in that it can squeeze out 1-3 more team members, however, this isn't all the time, sometimes its still just me and 4 or 5 others.
@@AkumaMitsurugi sounds about right, the engine i think can only render 6 ai teamates + you at any given moment, i prefer it render 10 or 11 if you know how to work it out to get that 11th

I stopped playing this game because it killed (glitched) my main community with all my favorite survivors that I’ve leveled throughout the past ten years. Literally have nothing to show for it now. Kinda upsetting really.
They need to: 1. Make multiplayer better. Both/all members should have all the same chance of getting loot(host has the most opportunities to find loot) 2. Make the world truly open world, and not force players to leave the current zone behind. 3. Enhance the base building. Very limited and not much customizability
I really hope that in the next update they will add more missions and maybe events or something like that Just so we dont have to do the same missions all the Time
I wish they would add a classic zombie mode.. way more normal zombies that are deadlier but no freaks at all, get absolutely sick of ferals, juggs and bloaters in the game
Man I am so very unbearably excited to play this game for the first time with a buddy! I've normally been a playstation player but got me a used xbox one s recently and ordered this game from gamestop asap! Being a zombie fan for at least 21 years, and a walking dead fan since the comics, this game looks like everything and more that I want from a zombie game!
It really is a fantastic game in its genre, been following the game since sod1 was in development. However, I would highly reccomend reading into the caveats with co-op.
As a Sony pony, I own a PS5 and the series S , this game is AWESOME 👍, played it for a whole month and cleared most of the maps on normal mode, I watched one of my favorite survivors get ripped in half by a juggernaut type, My advice DON'T get attached to your survivors.
Hey umm before you release the update could you add a aware marker to make it slightly safer to kill zombie freaks I would like to see a reware bar that tells us when and when not to kill zombies 5:34 ?????
what about coop? can they please polish coop since me and my buddies like playing the game coop but bummed out because some things can only be done by the host which is kind of too burdening and the inventory which cannot be shared by anyone
As a casual gaming type, I do enjoy State Of Decay, but this update sounds like a nightmare for me with my playstyle, honestly. I dislike forced challenge. Especially when its excessive.
I’m glad they brought back the outpost defenses from SoD1. It makes you much safer by having outposts near your base, but the major outpost locations don’t tend to be near bases, so it’s a trade off now
Help? I was playing heartland and talking to the doctor at the FireHouse and now I can't play any missions? I assume my game is broken and would have to restart?? Why would I put all the time into it only to restart and have it happen again. Hope they can fix this shit!
For me I love this game I truly do. But I have sworn off this game for a long while since last year after I suffered the ending cutscene glitch (on my Lethal run) to where I lost every single community member and had to reset my entire game just to play it again. On top of the same old bugs that have been there since launch I just can’t see myself (no matter how much I want to) getting back into this beautiful game. It’s a great game. That I wish certain bugs where not there anymore. After losing hundreds and hundreds of hours (probably thousand) I just hope that they keep working on this game and SOD3. So keep up the great work survivors and Sunny! It’s a great game that maybe one day I’ll get back into. Until they fix some of those bugs though I’ll stay watching and hoping :)
One thing I'm curious about is wouldn't having the haven protocol just delete the sieges? The Haven device literally gives you 0 threat and any zombie that comes near the base dies, so I'm curious if these sieges will bypass the Haven device.
I saw a trailer for SOD3 with a zombie deer, if they are going to have zombie animals all i ask is 3 things: 1-a zombie bear that is RELENTLESS and a bullet sponge, 2-zombie snakes in like a swamp area 😳 3-zombie spider’s (would be different and people hate spiders)
Sunny you mentioned stealth wont add to the threat meter for waking up PHs, does this mean stealth and using a crossbow or using a crossbow period or say stealth and using a silenced weapon? or only stealth kills with a dagger?
Devs explained like this, if the zombie is aware of you it will count and if they aren't it wont. Best way to tell is looking on the radar, if the zombie dot is reddish they are aware and actively trying to eat your brains. So, killing that one will count, if it only yellow, regardless of how you kill it, it will not count.

Lethal difficulty is already pretty easy with regular survivors and becomes a cakewalk with Red Talon survivors. I'd love to see a greater challenge for Red Talon since they seem to be very resilient, and to finally have a reason to use the heaven device. I do wish to see more lore oriented quest lines and stuff.
A city map pls Riddled with fallen towers and rubble Survivors fled into the few standing towers, or into the depths below. The ones who fled bellow turned and swarmed the towers and they starved. Some built rope bridges between two others lived in the fallen towers and used the chaotic nature of the rubble to make natural defenses… And some intentionally toppled towers to form a powerful perimeter. High amounts of loot, weapons, Two new vehicles- the A.P.C horrible fuel efficiency, but high storage and hits hard enough to kill a juggernaut and can not be destroyed by normal zombies, and the new and very abundant mob- the Boomers. And the Bus. Can be modded into a battle bus with heavy armor, very high fuel gauge, terrible turning but has the biggest storage. Both are very rare. This map has a demand on being quite. For the city can echo even the smallest calibers for miles. And they may come from above and bellow. New mobs The Hunter. Quite and staking, never out in the open. The spider Leaves it’s nest at night, and spins a web of tendrils that slow you but not stop you. They alert the spider and its fast. The Liar he Will hide in the rubble, or in buildings, warehouses, etc and will admit a cry for help that’s indistinguishable From a normal human. The Beater A moving plague heart A mass of plague infected mashed together to form a singular being, it moves slow but it never stops, if not killed it will spawn more hearts to the capped amount. ‘THE’ Horde. A horde of infected, only one per map. They number in the hundreds. They move, attack, and feed as one. They will freely roam the map where ever the please. But it is blind, and reacts only to sound. Meaning you can hide from it rather easily. Unless you make a sound. Lastly The Watcher A single infected, with bright glowing green eyes. It will follow you but hide from you when it’s been had. It won’t follow you into open ground. If you let it watch you for two long, it will vanish from the player and hide in the map. It will be transforming inside a cocoon into a lethal monster, that’s not only fast, but incredibly strong. Strong enough to flip the big boss truck over and fast enough to catch the hellion. Only the heaviest weapons and artillery can kill it, for its armor covers it’s whole body. But it is not agile, in a straight way it is the fastest. Attack its joints until it is stationary and call down the artillery with your own firepower. And kill once and for all. Only one will ever spawn per map, and sometimes it won’t spawn at all. It will always being with it watching you before it becomes a monster. New weapons LMGs Mounted HMGs And the m134 Gatling gun
So the devs catered to specific targeted audience of players, none of this has any interest to me as I play on Standard mode because I want to have fun not constantly grind. Oh well. So much for an update.
Like others have said I do agree the devs are great at supporting the game with amazing updates but man I've loved them since the first and thought that was amazing but now oh my god. I never thought we'd have what we have now in the game. Amazing
On normal at least, it feels like the infestations aren't that bad. Interestingly making noise even driving near a plague heart and honking does nothing. Tho running them over is more of a problem. Anyway, I don't see them as a huge problem, I actually tried to get them to make lots of infestations and it was very slow. On harder difficulties I can see this being a nightmare especially on lethal but at least on normal it's not really noticeable tbh
Because the game can get boring difficulty wise, and people want something new (not just switching to and only playing lethal mode) This update would actually make the world not feel empty and completed when you’ve done everything in a community’s world
Well still I don't have reason to go out from base. Also zed have zero chance to even get to base door. CLEO device, base with 4 big slots (lumbermill in one of maps) and well. Don't even care about hearts etc.
I’m excited for this update, lethal is just to easy for and I can clear the entire map in 10-15 hours being careful, glad they are finally adding a challenge to this game
All these upcoming huge update sounds great, but what about co-op. The first time I played with my friends, we noticed that you could only take the items assigned to them. Do they plan to keep this system as well or change it? Because so far this game seems to be more for one person than multiplayer, and this problem of only allowing you to take certain items hinders the enjoyment.
I just had to mod it to make it enjoyable. As far as I'm aware, there won't be co-op revisions for 2, so we just kinda have to hope 3 turns out better.
this is perfect I've literally got an entire self serving community and the whole bottom right side of my map has infestations ive been building up so if this is the case ima get rich real fast
it doesn't matter if you like the game or not, Undead Labs is still delivering after 10 years, that's dedication and passion, i didn't play for 2 years and the game has changed so much
Glad to see there’s still updates to this game but I am little bit disappointed i still think that infestations that are left unchecked should eventually turn into plague hearts through the maps and if those aren’t taken care of should also turn nearby zombies and freaks into plague versions of themselves personally I’d love that
I mean look that the DLCs that’s basically how the plague hearts and walls became a thing and I’m still dying on hope that if there’s a SOD3 we need a actual city map and I mean CITY!! Streets and street of skyscrapers that would be awesome too

Looks great. Cool to see prestige points and the military guns getting more play in the game.
Definitely convinced me to run another play through once it's up and fairly bug free.

Im so glad I’m playing the game while these updates occur, it’s like I’m the characters and the freaks are constantly evolving and things are changing
A new map, new vehicles, additional players or more NPCs to tag along and options to place your base wherever would be awesome!

I kinda wish you could use all of the bases, so you could have an actual community, but you would still need to manage and defend them all.

I wish you could have more than 12 people in a community. You should be able to have like 20 and have them go out and scavenge

In my view it’s just to add content and keep the game alive while we wait for the sequel, which it seems, it’s still far far away…
Adding new things to get people used to new gameplay mechanics. And it's a great testing group for new features.

Holy heck I have been away for too long. They brought back outpost favorites from the first game and then added new mechanics in. I love it!

what about coop? can they please polish coop since me and my buddies like playing the game coop but bummed out because some things can only be done by the host which is kind of too burdening and the inventory which cannot be shared by anyone
As a casual gaming type, I do enjoy State Of Decay, but this update sounds like a nightmare for me with my playstyle, honestly. I dislike forced challenge. Especially when its excessive.
I’m glad they brought back the outpost defenses from SoD1. It makes you much safer by having outposts near your base, but the major outpost locations don’t tend to be near bases, so it’s a trade off now
Outpost defense was actualy a thing in the first game. Wonder what take them so long to realise that it was a good Idea

For me I love this game I truly do. But I have sworn off this game for a long while since last year after I suffered the ending cutscene glitch (on my Lethal run) to where I lost every single community member and had to reset my entire game just to play it again. On top of the same old bugs that have been there since launch I just can’t see myself (no matter how much I want to) getting back into this beautiful game. It’s a great game. That I wish certain bugs where not there anymore. After losing hundreds and hundreds of hours (probably thousand) I just hope that they keep working on this game and SOD3. So keep up the great work survivors and Sunny! It’s a great game that maybe one day I’ll get back into. Until they fix some of those bugs though I’ll stay watching and hoping :)

One thing I'm curious about is wouldn't having the haven protocol just delete the sieges? The Haven device literally gives you 0 threat and any zombie that comes near the base dies, so I'm curious if these sieges will bypass the Haven device.
Haven is CLUTCH. I hope whatever changes can be switched on & off in options. If haven is nerfed or taken out, im doomed lol

SoD was a good series and couldve been a dayz successor but no MP COOP
I saw a trailer for SOD3 with a zombie deer, if they are going to have zombie animals all i ask is 3 things: 1-a zombie bear that is RELENTLESS and a bullet sponge, 2-zombie snakes in like a swamp area 😳 3-zombie spider’s (would be different and people hate spiders)
This was the first game I got for my system I still play it to this day I loved it
Sunny you mentioned stealth wont add to the threat meter for waking up PHs, does this mean stealth and using a crossbow or using a crossbow period or say stealth and using a silenced weapon? or only stealth kills with a dagger?
Devs explained like this, if the zombie is aware of you it will count and if they aren't it wont. Best way to tell is looking on the radar, if the zombie dot is reddish they are aware and actively trying to eat your brains. So, killing that one will count, if it only yellow, regardless of how you kill it, it will not count.
@@xBLiNDBoi I dont use the mini-map but will need to check it out to see how it works with the above things ... looking forward to it. Ie stealth crossbow/gun and of course knife kills.

Wild that they're still providing QOL updates
Lethal difficulty is already pretty easy with regular survivors and becomes a cakewalk with Red Talon survivors. I'd love to see a greater challenge for Red Talon since they seem to be very resilient, and to finally have a reason to use the heaven device. I do wish to see more lore oriented quest lines and stuff.
A city map pls
Riddled with fallen towers and rubble
Survivors fled into the few standing towers, or into the depths below.
The ones who fled bellow turned and swarmed the towers and they starved.
Some built rope bridges between two others lived in the fallen towers and used the chaotic nature of the rubble to make natural defenses…
And some intentionally toppled towers to form a powerful perimeter.
High amounts of loot, weapons,
Two new vehicles- the A.P.C horrible fuel efficiency, but high storage and hits hard enough to kill a juggernaut and can not be destroyed by normal zombies, and the new and very abundant mob- the Boomers.
And the Bus. Can be modded into a battle bus with heavy armor, very high fuel gauge, terrible turning but has the biggest storage. Both are very rare.
This map has a demand on being quite. For the city can echo even the smallest calibers for miles.
And they may come from above and bellow.

Quite and staking, never out in the open.
The spider
Leaves it’s nest at night, and spins a web of tendrils that slow you but not stop you. They alert the spider and its fast.
The Liar he
Will hide in the rubble, or in buildings, warehouses, etc and will admit a cry for help that’s indistinguishable

A moving plague heart
A mass of plague infected mashed together to form a singular being, it moves slow but it never stops, if not killed it will spawn more hearts to the capped amount.
‘THE’ Horde.
A horde of infected, only one per map. They number in the hundreds. They move, attack, and feed as one. They will freely roam the map where ever the please. But it is blind, and reacts only to sound. Meaning you can hide from it rather easily. Unless you make a sound.
Lastly
The Watcher
A single infected, with bright glowing green eyes. It will follow you but hide from you when it’s been had. It won’t follow you into open ground. If you let it watch you for two long, it will vanish from the player and hide in the map. It will be transforming inside a cocoon into a lethal monster, that’s not only fast, but incredibly strong. Strong enough to flip the big boss truck over and fast enough to catch the hellion.
Only the heaviest weapons and artillery can kill it, for its armor covers it’s whole body. But it is not agile, in a straight way it is the fastest. Attack its joints until it is stationary and call down the artillery with your own firepower. And kill once and for all. Only one will ever spawn per map, and sometimes it won’t spawn at all. It will always being with it watching you before it becomes a monster.

So the devs catered to specific targeted audience of players, none of this has any interest to me as I play on Standard mode because I want to have fun not constantly grind. Oh well. So much for an update.
Like others have said I do agree the devs are great at supporting the game with amazing updates but man I've loved them since the first and thought that was amazing but now oh my god. I never thought we'd have what we have now in the game. Amazing

On normal at least, it feels like the infestations aren't that bad. Interestingly making noise even driving near a plague heart and honking does nothing. Tho running them over is more of a problem.
Anyway, I don't see them as a huge problem, I actually tried to get them to make lots of infestations and it was very slow. On harder difficulties I can see this being a nightmare especially on lethal but at least on normal it's not really noticeable tbh

Because the game can get boring difficulty wise, and people want something new (not just switching to and only playing lethal mode) This update would actually make the world not feel empty and completed when you’ve done everything in a community’s world
Idk fam I'm on the hardest difficulty this sounds like fun it turn state of decay to more of a strategy game
They are ruining what SOD 2 was, most likely preparing for SOD 3.
You have a difficulty slider. Use it. If green zone is too tough for you I have no idea what to tell you.

Well still I don't have reason to go out from base. Also zed have zero chance to even get to base door. CLEO device, base with 4 big slots (lumbermill in one of maps) and well. Don't even care about hearts etc.
I’m excited for this update, lethal is just to easy for and I can clear the entire map in 10-15 hours being careful, glad they are finally adding a challenge to this game

All these upcoming huge update sounds great, but what about co-op. The first time I played with my friends, we noticed that you could only take the items assigned to them. Do they plan to keep this system as well or change it? Because so far this game seems to be more for one person than multiplayer, and this problem of only allowing you to take certain items hinders the enjoyment.
I just had to mod it to make it enjoyable. As far as I'm aware, there won't be co-op revisions for 2, so we just kinda have to hope 3 turns out better.

Glad to see there’s still updates to this game but I am little bit disappointed i still think that infestations that are left unchecked should eventually turn into plague hearts through the maps and if those aren’t taken care of should also turn nearby zombies and freaks into plague versions of themselves personally I’d love that
I mean look that the DLCs that’s basically how the plague hearts and walls became a thing and I’m still dying on hope that if there’s a SOD3 we need a actual city map and I mean CITY!! Streets and street of skyscrapers that would be awesome too
