If Sony buys Paramount, they could still merge Paramount+ with NBCUniversal's Peacock to create an American version of SkyShowtime.
I think that would probably be on the table.
surprised you didn't mention how Sony took over distribution for Disney on blur ays and dvds as well in a partnership.
Definitely an interesting part of this whole saga!
I'm surprised that max is so low on that list, it has so many hit tv shows and what not on the streaming service.
Max is one of my favs.
Sony is short on cash.
I'm probably on Max the most. The only thing I can think of is that I think it's one of the more expensive ones
I think it is possible that if Sony does end up successful in buying Paramount Global, they might merge Paramount + with Peacock or sell Paramount + to Universal. Sony is currently successful because it did not compete in the general streaming industry, I can see the management continue on with that ideology after they successfully buy Paramount Global.
When these rumours came out, I'm got curious what would happens to Paramount Plus. Aside Crunchyroll, Sony is famous by not having a streaming to compete to the others, and producing shows to everyone, Netflix, Amazon, Apple, etc. The Crown, The boys, The last of Us, different services but all Sony. They feed themselves with competition. In a buying scenario, will Sony keep Paramount Plus or will they dismantle it to keep doing what they do now?!
Therein lies the question 🧐🤔
My guess is they either dismantle it, or somehow repurpose it and bundle it as part of their PlayStation Plus service - almost like as the same way Amazon Prime basically exists as an incentive to keep Prime subscriptions rolling for their website.
my annual to paramount renews this year. wondering what's going to happen... 😄
I think Sony was trying to get there own stream awhile ago. That’s why you couldn’t get stream apps on Ps devices.
Your podcast is so great!
Thanks, Andrew! I really appreciate it.
And they still like physical media
Forgot about that- with Sony taking over Disney’s DVD business, it adds an interesting dynamic to this whole mix.
That's huge in my eyes as well. One of the benefits of being a hardware company as well.
If Sony buys it they should leave like that but crating it own shows like Netflix even making shows of Sony videos games like destiny, kill zone and even resistance games and for last turn it into a Sony streaming service
Lots of video game collabs possible!
Showtime app showdown almost 2 years ago and transfer all content to showtime hub like all networks they acquired by spending more than they had as well result lack number of members to support this plus going over budget on content end result needing someone save them. Only minis they lost streaming rights to star trek files rights to discovery that right on Warner bros logo and max content and hbo logo says a discovery company where find them. So good luck getting it from them because cbs studios failed due so maybe Sony can.
Apparently Paramount has gone exclusive with Skydance, a better fit than Sony or WB
no they are not. Sherri Redstone is lying. end.
Nobody is watching women's basketball. It's pure trash.
The women's ncaa championship game drew 4 million more viewers than the men's championship game. Yeah....no one is watching women's bb. Ha.
@@MSDOGS1976 Fake viewbots maybe. Women suck at basketball, and at voting. No one is watching women's basketball.
