But off the top of my head, those are the only two artists who immediately spring to mind in having such a diverse collection of on-stage characters. Great channel by the way!*
Fun Facts: Lenny Kravitz helped Madonna write and produce this sultry song, where Madonna whispers most of the lyrics. It was the first single from her highly anticipated Immaculate Collection compilation album, and created plenty of sales-generating controversy for the singer, who was known for pushing the limits of sexual content. Ingrid Chavez, a singer who had worked with Prince, sued for royalties, claiming she wrote the song with Kravitz. According to Chavez, Kravitz came up with the title, but the rest of the lyric - minus one line Madonna changed - came from her. "Lenny recorded a synth line and then he asked me if I had something I wanted to say," she told Vibe. "I had a letter on me (my letters are like poems) and so I got on the mic and basically read the letter. One take and the rest is history." The case was settled out of court in 1992, with Chavez getting a composer credit along with Kravitz and Madonna. This samples a beat from a Public Enemy song called "Security Of The First World," an instrumental from their album It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back, which in turn samples "Ashley's Roachclip," a 1974 track by The Soul Searchers that has been used hundreds of times. Public Enemy used many samples themselves and had no claim to the original beat, so they didn't sue Madonna or Kravitz. Public Enemy's producer, Hank Shocklee, capitalized on the publicity by having a group called the Young Black Teenagers record an answer song using the same beat called "To My Donna." The video contains partial nudity - a female dancer flashes a bit of nipple under her suspenders. MTV banned it, but eventually agreed to play it late at night. With the controversy brewing over the video, ABC aired it on Nightline, with anchor Forrest Sawyer asking Madonna questions about the video as it ran. It was unusual for an entertainment story to be the focus of Nightline, but this one made the news because it raised censorship issues. It also didn't hurt that Madonna was a huge star and was sure to draw lots of viewers. While the video played, Madonna talked about how women in her videos are always in control sexually. The video was directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino, who had a photography/graphic design background and made clips that looked more like art films. He usually worked in black-and-white, which he did here and also in his other famous video: Don Henley's "The Boys of Summer." The clip was shot at a Paris hotel and featured Madonna's boyfriend at the time, Tony Ward. After the video was banned by MTV, it was released for sale on VHS. In an era when your phone can play just about any video with a few taps of the glass it's hard to comprehend, but in the early '90s people would buy certain music videos to play on their VCRs. This one sold well thanks to the controversy (and the low, low price of $9.98), eventually selling over one million copies.

lol,...You never get to know Madonna and that is what makes her brilliant! Love you reaction ;)
Madonna did her own thing, and was ahead of her time. Now, no one is surprised by a video like this today.
This track was on the Immaculate Collection 'best of' album, and was one of two trqcks (the other being Rescue Me) that only appeared on this album or as singles and were not included on any other album..however you are right in the timeline, this single was released between the Vogue and Erotica eras, and marks a transition in Madonnas career. Really enjoying your reactions pal, thanks for sharing them
You summed it up perfectly; "that's Madonna for you!" 😂
My favorite music video ever! God bless the Queen!!
This was the first video banned by MTV. She was decades ahead of her time. She is the greatest live performer of all time, if you want to see her artistry and athleticism, react to her tours. Your viewership will double. I swear it!
One of her best!!!!!! Love this song and video!! Im laughing so hard watching you react..lmao 🤣 Yes there is only 1 Madonna!
She always pushed the envelope and let people know hey, this is how I express/ make my music. It was always art to her and the form of visual, lyrical, etc.... She had a lot of strength to do a lot of that, especially when it was looked down upon.
No one mentioned the wicked hip hop beat in the background. 😂
I think it’s a public enemy sample.
But Yep,....we were all shocked when this video first came out.
That’s Madonna for ya!
They sued her for this
@@craigreed1638 Wow, I didn’t know that!
other song suggestions include kiss from a rose by Seal, you gotta be by Desree , Fantasy by Mariah Carey, Ready for love by India Arie , i do cherish you by 98 degrees , beautiful by Christina Aguilera , Don't let go by En Vogue
She is THE QUEEN of POP
Gotta love this girl! She broke barriers with this song ♥♥♥
30 years old and still at the cutting edge....and what a groove.
When u paused the vid, headphones off, and staring there speechless...u had me DYING OVER HERE LAUGHING. When i saw that u chose this vid, i was like, he in for a rude awakening. Mtv only played this late at night. Madonna is the Queen of controversy when it comes to music videos
Madonna is everything..always surprise you... Not for nothing, she is the Queen.
Your genuine openness to Madonna really makes you so awesome. You are open to it all…even other artists you’ve watched. I genuinely love your energy. You seem like such a wonderful guy! Keep it up! I wish everyone was as open as you are to music/art/expression. You aren’t running away from it because of the sexual element. You hear it out and enjoy it! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Love or hate Madonna..she has been at the top of creative song writing for over 3 decades... last of a dying breed.
Keep up with Madonna
Her catalog is so vast and iconic 👑 👑 👑
I was 14 when I came out and not like the kids today, so this video was shocking to my young eyes.
This is one of those rare music videos that could have been made yesterday and no one would question it. The cinematography and style hasn't dated one bit at all.
Even today no female artist in popular music has made a music video like this. Madonna doesn’t twerk, she WRITHES. The very personification of ecstasy.
Madonna queen 👑 👑 ❤️😍😍
Thank u for the reaction! enjoyed it very much! :-)
1990, 1991 Madonna - if MTV aired this it was after 11pm at night. She ruled for 20 years throughout the 80's & 90's and continued to stay relevant.
The music in this song is sensational. Could listen to the instrumental all day long. One of her most underrated songs.
Ah.... the days when people went crazy cause they knew a new Madonna video was about to drop! Happy days!
Good job!! I totally enjoyed your reaction...Thank You For Being Real!
Bro Madonna is unique, greatest artist ever
I ❤️ this song, I remember when I was to the video store to buy the video single and watching in private in my room very scared of my family lol
Great upload of one of my fave songs...loved some of your facial expression ha ha ha
Was a senior in high school when this came out and loved it ever since
When this video debuted ...
Holy Jesus. Jaws were on the floor.
Have fun, Jayvee. Long, long career from one of the most versatile, bitchiest, fieriest, controversial artists in pop/rock!
I adore Madonna because she SIMPLY DOESN'T GIVE A DAMN.
This video was banned by MTV, so she decided to sell it as a video single, then it became in The best selling video single of all time!!! The Queen of Pop, period.
I was 29 when this was released and it blew my mind, I loved it and had my own fun (better left to one's imagination). 😛
Love this!!!!!!! Aaaaaaand you’re awesome my man!!! 👍💙zane
No one really knows Madonna! She has lots of records, she did a lot of tours, she put herself out there. She’s a performance artist. We are fools to think we know Madonna but she won’t let you. You can listen to her music, react to her videos and interviews but that’s it. She doesn’t let you in. And that’s the grace of Madonna!
Madonna is one of a kind. A artist
Madonna's 2nd tour was called the "Who's That Girl Tour". Even back in the 80's, people couldn't figure out who this girl really was... and it drove them crazy!
This was sold as a Video single in the UK back then. Still have my copy. Love Madonna.
