I have been building for 4 years, it is not even funny how many of the 62te rebuilds that I have done. But 😅 I still learn something new in your videos
Can anyone help? Originally i had the P0733, P0841, and P1790 codes showing up on my 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. I took the transmission pan off and found a broken retainer ring in there. The transmission fluid was really black too. I tore the transmission apart with the help of Gary's Videos and found the compounder assembly was where the ring came from and it had other damage as well. I ordered a used compounder assembly (with a refurbished torque converter) and installed those. Also bought new transmission fluid and a new filter. I put everything back together and the Van is doing the same thing it was before the repair. The van starts and idles fine. When i press down on the accelerator in drive (or any gear) the van doesn't seem to want to move until about 1500rpms. When i rev it that high and take my foot off of the pedal the rpms kind of spike up and down until they eventually go down to 0. Nothing on the speedometer it stays at 0. ( I heard another problem causes the speedo to jump.) I checked the lines from the transmission pump and i have fluid flowing. I don't know anything else to try. I decided to check for codes again and this time i'm only getting the P0733. Please anyone that might know what is wrong just respond here. If it wasn't my only vehicle i'd junk the thing. Could the broken ring maybe have damaged an electrical part on the way out? Thanks for any help!
@@GaryFerraro I had the trans pretty much down to just the case. Had the valve body off but didn't tear it apart or anything. The thing was moving while in gear fine until I heard that grinding sound. I'm guessing that was the ring coming out? Today I noticed one of the either input or output sensors have a big chunk ripped out of the end. I'm guessing the ring hit it? Just ordered those. It had troubles getting into the first couple of gears at first and then the faster I went the smoother the other gears were. I parked the van and let it warm up. Was shifting between Reverse and Drive just to see if I could hear or feel anything going on. Thats when I heard a grinding sound for a split second and it started revving to 1500rpms before moving.

Hello Gary. First, Thank You for your useful video. I just finished complete rebuild of my 62TE in Fiat Freemont, 2.0 diesel. There was problem with axial bearing near oil pump and some other worn parts. I use Master rebuild kit from ebay, repair Torque convertor, solenoid block, valve body... Before rebuild, I had error code P0868 (low pressure) and car stuck in 3rd gear, but only after few meters of driving and it happened only once after starting the car and then shiffting was again OK. Now, after rebuild, I drove about 3000 km without any problem, but suddenly after starting the car I get same problem... the car stuck in 3rd gear when come to stop on first km of driving, when push the gas pedal the transmission has "kick down" to 1st geart and after that I can drive again without any problem. This problem comes only after starting the car every new day and always come only once per driving the car. Now I am done and nobody knows where is the problem. I used repaired solenoid block, not new. Can be the problem here? Thank you for any advice and sorry for my bad English. Greetings from Slovakia.
Yes. New filter was in Master rebuild kit from ebay. Transmission is shifting nice, much better than before, but I stuck in 3rd gear each first kilometer every morning, with no error code.

Gary - when replacing the compounder low drum to upgrade to non-rotational rings, do you find it necessary to follow the book and check/adjust bearing preload by checking turning torque? Thanks.
just finished my 2011 62te transmission and changed everything except the solenoid pack. Original failed part was the last pump piston in the compounder. Everything looked great but I still replaced everything - frictions, steels, torque converter, pump and low drum bushings. I am now getting codes p841, p846. I'm thinking i need new solenoid pack + valve body. What would you do? Reverse and drive are fine but erratic try then fails to shift into second. Limp home drives great. I used 9 qts of atf +4 but it looks ia little high on the dipstick. I thought I had ordered a new solenoid pack but I made a mistake and didn't want to wait for the new one. Old one within spec using meter. I also didn't change pressure sensor just the o-ring.
