We wish him all the best in refurbishment of these buildings. He is doing a great job saving history. Thank you for showing us . we enjoyed it very much.
Wow i was born and raised here and all my family are from here! I moved away 5 years ago now im gonna take my wife and kids and show them where i grew up. Here we come mountain city Tennessee! Such a great video thank you so much!
Just imagine living in those times had to be much simpler but a lot harder work, something that’s a benign concept to most people nowadays! Much respect to these past generations and thanks for sharing it with us y’all
Buster Brown Shoes, I had a pair as a child, maybe several :) On to the truck in the picture, with Buster Brown, I'd say late 1920s Ford. Color of the wall in blue and why, not sure but it's beautiful. I thoroughly enjoy the entire tour of this beautiful historical location and building. The ledger Tim shared with us about lending and payments made for customers is a treasure. My Great Grandfather had to borrow each year, late 1880s- early 1900s on his land and log home in Fairfield County , SC to be able to plant his crops, plowed by Mike the mule, good name for a mule. Then when harvest was gathered he'd pay his loan back and the rest of the money was used for his family through the year to live. I have the original papers he signed to borrow on his land each year. The tales we can share are endless and yet become treasures of our lives to give to others. I cannot express to you how much this video means to me. I felt each step back in time as Tim spoke of the history of the past. Thank you so much for always bringing us along and sharing your time and love of life and the lives of others. God's blessings be upon you, A big hug for Big T, All my Love, Always
That's awesome Mel! Are you saying Mike is like a mule...haha. Tim does such a great job. We appreciate you sharing the history with us and the blue is Haint you might look it up. God bless and Big T say hi. 🙏
@@FridaysForever, Mike a Mule, :) very hard working and always willing to extend his help to others . I have an old photo of Mike the mule standing in the field that is ready to plow with my gt gt Granddaddy and gt granddaddy.
This history is great. Great views out the windows. I’m with you Mike, second floor office by the window! How wonderful that some of the women are still alive and gave Tim some history.
I'm so glad that you went back to this wonderful little town..I never thought about that an telephone operater had to work a night shift.. Great video!!!!
My Husband worked as a long distance telephone operator in the late 80's and early 90's. Third shift. He knew something was happening when Desert Storm started. The overseas lines went silent.
My grandpa used to tell me and my sisters when we were little that that water fountain was the fountain of youth and that if we drank from it we would never grow old. we fell for it then, but now that were in our late 60's we think he may have lied to us. I Also have had my hair cut in that barbershop. Thanks For The Video, Great Job
Loved this video, y’all. I had watched the first video when you first posted it. It was great, but this one had so much more 😮to see & stories to tell. I’m like you, Mike, I just love old historical homes & buildings, especially if they’re southern. The blue color on the walls is called haint blue. It’s supposedly kept the haints (ghosts) from entering the building. Back in the day, people would paint their porch ceilings this color to keep the haints from entering their homes. My grandparents had the ceiling on their front porch painted haint blue & my grandfather told me why it was painted that way. I’ll never forget the story. When we built the home we live in now, we had a big front porch built & used haint blue on the ceiling. It’s a true color you can now buy from the paint store. I can’t remember for sure, but I think ours came from Sherwin Williams. Thank you for this wonderful video. It was filled with so much interesting information. I just love following your channel. It’s so full of useful info & great trips. So many channels are filled with silliness & uninteresting things. I’ve stopped watching them because they’re just wasting my time. I could watch yours all day long. God bless you, Mike & Karen. ♥️
Awesome video, very interesting and informative. My husband and I are thinking about moving to or near mountain city Tennessee in our near future when we retire. Thank you for taking the time to do this video and all your videos !!!! Great job ! Thank you 😊
What a amazing story 😮😃 love history 😊 My mother n law was a phone operator back in the days. Our small town has also restored some of the second floors into office spaces and the woodwork is just beautiful. ❤ Thanks for sharing 🤗❤️ and who wouldn't want to see Big T🤗❤️🐾
Mike and Karen, really enjoyed your very interesting video! Beautiful old buildings and the history of them! So cool he's got the ledger book. Thank you for taking me along with you! Love y'all and God Bless You!❤️
One of my favorite kind of videos. It's amazing at the stuff you see and the stories you hear in these old places. Buster Brown shoes. I had forgot I had Buster Brown shoes. I love how this brings back memories. The old coke machine. The old soda fountain. Tim is so proud of his store and projects. I loved the "private" tour and all of his stories. I think the color is haint blue. I missed my man, Big T. Hey 👋 to you, Big T. Hugs 🤗and kisses 😘 to you too. Karen, you did a great job on the lighting. I was waiting for a ghost to pop out at any second. 👻 We are getting close to Halloween. 🎃 Thanks for sharing. Have fun, be safe and God Bless. ❤️

The blue paint is similar to the paint color on the porches in the low country ceilings of SC. Keeps the haints away 😱 😂

You should visit the Welcome Center/Museum. If you do, say hello to Jenny Johnson from Jan from Denmark.
Thanks for the tip and we sure will.
Where is Mountain city located
I hope you were careful around that old paint. If it's old enough, the green could have been made with arsenic.
You would have to pay me to go to Tennessee to start .
