      No, weight does not matter for strength. strength is from central nervous system. It is an energy that arises. It makes the body tough. Whereas muscle and weight just give a slight adavantage but not fully.

      He won five titles, three of which were when Savickas didn't compete in WSM. Had Savickas competed in WSM from 05-08, it'd probably be Savickas with 5-7 titles and Pudzianowski with 2-4. Savickas took '05 to '08 off from WSM for some reason but still won the Arnold Classic all four of those years.

      Robert Heilmeier I think eddie hall has stronger shoulders or basically the same. Eddie got closer to lifting the Australian log than Brian shaw and Hafthor without using any leg drive and he had an injured tricep. Eddie hall has the strongest static strength in the world. If Eddie used leg drive I think his overhead press would be around the same as Big Z.

    If your wondering about Mariusz's form at the end of some of the reps? Yes, is isnt exactly good. But if you in the WSM you can cheat a little bit to complete a few reps at the end. Even for advance lifters it most likely is not a good idea. But again if you're at the very top of the sport and know what you're doing it can help you get a few extra reps.

    Savickas weighs even 90 pounds more than Pudzianowski. Of course, he has the larger maximum strength. But Pudzianowski is still the more complete strongman. He is also extremely fast and athletic. That is why he is also the most successful of all.

    • @holypoop88
      @holypoop88 10 років тому +59

      Pudzianowski performed well and won multiple World Strongest Man titles because of his athleticism, speed, and endurance. Not because he was the strongest. At the Arnold Strongman Classic, which is geared more towards strength, Pudzianowski never finished better than fourth place, even during the year he won the World's Strongest Man competition. When it comes to actual strongman, the Arnold Classic is the better proving ground for strength, not the WSM competition.

    • @xXJeReMiAhXx99
      @xXJeReMiAhXx99 9 років тому +22

      holypoop88 yes but shouldn't the title strongman involve some level of endurance and athleticism? if all we wanted to see was extremely heavy guys lift in place we could watch powerlifting lol.

    • @immasurvivor
      @immasurvivor 9 років тому +13

      xXJeReMiAhXx99 The whole thing about strongman is awkward and strange weights. Powerlifters are only good at 3 very simple and sterile lifts. As a strongman you must be strong everywhere, because you have no idea what sort of events you will be competing in. Except the atlas stones, they have those in almost every major competition. That is why strongman is a better gauge of strength than powerlifting imo. The athletic part of strongman does need to stay, but they should dial it down abit, I hate watching them lift weights that they can handle like toys and then just running with it.

    • @terrormonkey1
      @terrormonkey1 9 років тому +1

      holypoop88
      if you mean when it comes to events geared towards static powerlifting type events (that arent sanctioned as powerlifting) and meaningless so called "world records" where straps and un official apparatus and technique is allowed just so that yet another record can be broken in the good old USA...then yeah. the arnold classic is the better showcase. but if you want an established world recognized competition that has established who is the all round strongest man on the planet for the past 37 years...then WSM is where its at.

    • @ronswanson3801
      @ronswanson3801 8 років тому +12

      Nope, Savickas ist fast 2.
      Athleticism has nothing to do with low bodyfat.
      Nowdays we have reached another dimension of strength and we also have faster competitiors than mariusz, like Marius Lalas and Thor Björnsson.
      But Zydrunas is still in business.
      Injuries never stopped him, he has always finished at least 2nd.
      Every world class Strongman competitor will tell you that Z is way better than Mariusz.
      He isn´t even a serious challanger for Z.
      Maybe Brian Shaw is, put Mariusz? Never ever.
      He´s just the favourite of the Bodybuilders and the people who don´t know what´s sports about.

    I never really rated marius, sure he won 5 titles but look who he was up against... I'd like to see how he compares to Savickas today, or Hafthor Bjornsson or Eddie Hall.
    I think we've seen the last of him though, he said he wanted to return to the octagon and strongman training interferred with with that.

      +germanpenn It's all a moot point. Marius retired early. If he'd carried on as long as Zavickas is doing he could have won even more. Also, don't forget he very narrowly missed out on two other titles. Zavickas is great no doubt, but, Marius stands alone as THE greatest. He also had the best physique WSM has ever seen, he was huge AND ripped.

      +TheMistico66 I Think you are right about 2002-2005, but after that not really. People like Zavickas left the competition and went to compete elsewhere. He didn't return again before 2009 (supposedly to prove a point, but it should be noted that the other organization went bankrupt). I don't think Pudzianowski would stand much of a chance today - even in his prime. He did have great technique, but many of the new events favor strongmen with more body weight (truck pull etc.). But then again: Big Z did not compete with him in those years so the argument is impossible to win or lose :D

      Wow.. You have shown you know nothing with that statement..
      Before 2008 Savickas was only WSM part timer.. He was a lifter who has records intact to this very day.. So well done on knowing not a lot..
      PS. I hate the guy but how you can even overlook 3 times in a row winner - Bill Kazmaire.. Who ended up getting thown out due to his attitude and also he won 3 in a row and didn't look like any one could stop him..
      Also JPS would of won 1 more if it was held in 87..

      ThePC GamersCommunity Mario is still 5x champ. never weighed more than 320-330. could deadlift 400+kg's under powerlifting rules (no straps, official bar/plates etc..), could shoulderpress almost as much as savikas, could squat as much (ive seen him squat press not much less than 300kg's), but as well as being one of the best lifters he is one of the most athletic (if not the most athletic) strongmen ever! was best stair lifter/falmers walk or carry guy in his time and he left (stupidly) to attempt a UFC type career after losing (only due to poor effort/technique in the boat pull) to savikas in his last wsm...
      so he could easily have been 6x wsm or more if he hadnt lost interest/ motivation and left at just 32 years old (?)

    • @fingersTitan
      @fingersTitan 9 років тому +2

      terrormonkey1 Ahhh... You have me wrong.
      Please read my post.. Not one place does it discredit Mr Mario.. He is in own right a legend of the sport.. and not just through the amount of times he won it..
      I was just pointing out that Savic was not a 100% out and out WSM for a lot of his begining and that Bill Kazmaire at his time was the same.. He had issues with the way WSM was run and who was running it.. They didn't want someone to win back to back to back years like he was and would of done..
      Bill has always been cockey and said that the only 2 real WSM through history have been him and Mario..
      I wonder if you'll agree with me on this.. I think Thor will take the lot.. Iceland see WSM as a top class sport/event.. I honestly think Thor has 5 or more in him.

      MikTho666 actually to maintain their mass and strength they have to lift high weights in regular ex but not as heavy as competitions but in compts they challenge their power and tolerance to get their best of the best so they maybe take wrong positions to add one oe more reps only in compts.

    Even though Mariusz has the most WSM titles he never gets mentioned in the discussion for strongest of all time. Partially because Zydrunas was absent for a large part of his dominant era, partially because he never won the Arnold (Big Z won it 8 times), and partially because of the steroid argument.
    In my opinion a peak Mariusz would struggle at WSM these days. He'd likely still win all of the race events but the level of strength in the static events has gone up so much in the last 10 years he wouldn't be able to cope.
