I love the dude but it was hard watching him destroy himself. It was obvious he gave up after Brent died. I used to go to all their summer shows in the Midwest & anything in Illinois Wisconsin Michigan Indiana & Ohio in fall winter or spring and his decline every year it was obvious for everyone to see. They were legitimately one of the greatest bands on earth in the late 70s & by the mid 80s were somewhat of a joke. I’m glad he got his sh*t together for a brief period in the late 80s but even then he was a shell of his former self. With Jerry’s head in the clouds Bob Weir took over and started having them play all those horrible songs he was convinced made him into a rock god. They used to fight on stage over playing them which is why they sounded so horrible some times -Phil and/or Jerry would start to play something completely different to Bobby until someone gave up.
@sakhba71 lol...save the middle finger for your Mom. Besides, Phish are/were better than than the Dead ever were if you're into that type of music scene.
i was Therefore for this in taper section with my brother Mike z.from Worcester. the guy who was doing the taping brought his younger brother who was drunk and whatever else with us to the show...we were in our seats on the far side of the row toward the other end of the aisle which leads either to the stage or upward towards the doors to go out..anyway this kid, being in the state he was in, charges through everyone's expensive taping gear, microphones, wires, etc he goes in from the oppositesidefromwherewewere at so he basically fucked up everyone's setup ..peoplewere pissed and it was the breakout of Lucy in the sky...was anyone there for that or rememberedwhat I'm saying...great show though.
I was there man. Heee heeee heeee. Healy got fired because he gave us a digital soundboard patch since they didn't use the quad sound in theDean Dome. Great couple of daze
Damn J went downhill fast from this point to 95....the Gorilla wouldn't leave his back....imagine had he made it another 20 years ..what might would've come out music wise
I noticed that too.I love (and miss) that man dearly.But,yeah...he did have a thing for the sweet SHIT.Of course, that could have been "the horse" talkin, huh ?
Mono Ped just stumbled upon this today, saw Zappa in the comments and had to see what it was...Picture yourself with a whore in New Orleans. Then into what? Texas Motel, don’t mind the smell.....great shit fur shur
you got no clue but that cool...overrated yet probably played to more people than any other music artist ever...they weren't for everyone, and yeah you had to be patient and sometimes, it wasn't great. But more often than not, they were the best dance band in any town they were in...everyone was thrilled to be there and they never faked it, they always went out there and gave what they had....and when they were on, it was like nothing i ever saw in music....see Days Between, a song most wouldnt even listen to, yet it was a showstopper.
Jerry's heartfelt goodness never gets old. He is just about the only guy in the world who could pull off Beatles tunes.
Got into a bad car accident trying to play this wear your seatbelt and keep your eyes on the road, peace and love everyone!
My "seat" was A4 for this show....front row and directly in front of Jerry. Great memory.
Where was it? I remember seeing the dead play that once. Was it at shoreline?
@@brianmorgan2725 This is Chapel Hill, NC.
Hot stuff
They did it at "soldier stadium" I was told.
Lucky dog!
lucy was the last song jerry performed in atlanta, i walked out of the show that night and closed a chapter in my life

As a big beatles fan this is the best cover of this song. Almost as good as original. Greatful dead is the best!
I'm also a huge Beatles fan and I find the version equal
Elton John did the best cover, Better than this .
Best cover?? What? Jerry can barely sing. Even 20 years before this, the Dead were a druggie joke.

It's like it was written for him to sing and them to play it live.
I believe they opened this set with sunshine,.Such good times with diamonds.
Saw this concert in Cleveland in '93 with sunshine acid.
my first show thank you Jerry
I was there. Completely there.

Jerry remembered all the words this time.
Sweet vid. Thanks for the upload.
In fairness, he does have a music stand right in front of him. I'd be willing to bet that he has the lyrics on the stand. :-)
yep. I was in A4, directly in front of Jerry. Funny thing, I didn't notice the music stand that night.
Just like yesterday
Jerry we still love and know you in Bolinas Ca

Ha,ha.Yeah...Jerry Garcia: The King of Pop !! That's what he aspired to.NOT.RIP,Jerry my friend.
I like frank zappa's version better
Mono Ped Frank Zappa did this. Sort of ironic since Frank was vehemently anti drug. Although John denied it was explicitly about drugs.
Hahaha, the girl with the pee hole suprise
@@JBCo2012, when did you realize, that i knew that frank did it?
