@THERUSTEDGARDEN
Mr Gary. You are my new favorite UA-cam channel. I’ve been gardening for over 50 years. I’m still learning something new every day.
Thank you.
Thanks so. much and I am still learning too.
Got my garden started late, just on Tuesday, got the shade cloth for the basil, tomatoes in, had potatoes already coming up, got more soil to finish the others. Gotta mulch those leaves that were shoved in my bins😂. So much work. Will get started early in the morning
Enjoy and you have plenty of time for growing.

I've gone full-on succession planting this year, and it's made a HUGE difference, obviously. Took me long enough to realize the error of my ways, but better late than never! Thanks for the help you've provided this novice, it really has helped tremendously.
It really is a great strategy.

I harvested a bed of garlic then planted 4 rows of okra in one direction and 4 rows of bush beans in the other direction with a squash in the corner of the bed, kind of a weird 3 sisters. We’ll see how it goes.
That should work.

Thanks for all your content. I've learned so much from you, and have passed some of that info on to my dad who also gardens. You're my go-to for gardening knowledge.
Always glad to hep and thank for being a perk member. And for sharing knowledge.
Started using shredded paper I use to put into compost as mulch into containers. We are having 100s in Louisiana.
Feeling the heat with ya! What a great idea, is it white paper or brown unbleached?
Crazy heat.

There's never any video you make where I don't learn at least 1 new thing. Today I learned several. I can use a single pole for 'Pole Beans', had been under impression needed multiple poles tied together as trellis. Learned I can direct seed some things now that I hadn't realized. I knew already to succession planting cuc's and a few others, but there were many new ones I learned today. Thx!
Direct seeding really max a difference over the summer. And thinks germinate and mature faster then what seed packs say when it is the heat of summer.

Thank you so much for all of the good gardening tips. I’m also in zone 7 up in jersey and boy has it been hot. Finally just got a sprinkle of rain today. Was hoping for a downpour to fill up my rain barrels. Last year I noticed that in September my pepper plants perked back up and I got a second flowering with some peppers in the fall as well as my cherry and grape tomato plants too
Peppers do prefer the cooling summer too. Good luck.

@THERUSTEDGARDEN Gary, it's VERY HOT in Georgia right now. Should we still fertilize with these high temps? The humidity is low and the temps in mid 90s. Humidity will rise this coming midweek. Please do a video on okra sometime. I love the stuff. Have about 30 plants and should harvest soon. Enjoy your videos very much!!!!
Yeah water soluble you can just mix in a watering and use it any time. Thanks for watching.

My June task so far: watering, watering, watering. My son plays in those plastic kiddie pools. I use the water from that to water all the pots. Then for the veg beds I use a drip hose, but, I found it to be insufficient in this heat plus no rain.
In the heat of summer, when plants enter this state of dormancy I see conflicting info on fertilizing. Im in White Marsh, MD. Ive noticed from observation ive had to hit the pots with fertilizer due to yellowing leaves.
Yep watering here too for sure. A plant wont use the NPK if it is in dormancy. You cant really cause issues. Extra doses on water-soluble, reduce rate, wont hurt plants.

Chard is ok. Tomato plant got attacked, basil is ok, but my peppers and zucchini haven't done anything. Using fish emulsion. But I'm learning a lot

My garden is in transition. I’m in Md 7a Lettuce planted several months ago is pretty much done. I’ve been pulling up the remaining lettuce plants. Is that correct or should I just cut them back? Also what spray do I need to buy for my tomatoes? I don’t have any pests yet
This video is exactly what I need for my zone and garden needs.
Yeah get rid of all lettuces. You'll plant again for the fall. Sprays is a big question. I would watch my videos on hydrogen peroxide and baking soda.

Regarding the mulch--we've been bagging our grass clippings this spring before it got too hot (western Kentucky-we live in the mighty muddy Ohio River subtropical rainforest) but I notice when I put the clippings down in the garden they get moldy. I'm trying not to spread them too thick, but my husband does the mowing and he just dumps and goes. Will the mold affect my plants, ie spread any diseases? We've had a rainier spring than normal but now we're locked into the same brutal heat dome that you are, and are almost 2" down on rain for the month of June. Thank you for your videos, I'm learning so much!
Mold wont. You can dry it out on a big tarp if you have space. Put you do want it to dry an brown. Maybe less down at a time.

Greetings from the netherlands ....... wow .. .June (same as May) has been horrible for everyone ... 50-60% less sun ... temp hardly gets above 25 degrees celcius (normally 30-36 we get regularly) ... garden is on hold almost for the last 7 weeks ...and before that it was crap as well ... alot of rain (monthly we almost get a years worth)... lost almost all of my onions... potato harvest is about 40% what i expected.... and the rest of the garden is being chewed away by a horde..... legion.... legionS of snails .... and for the first time i had colorado beetles in my potato plants (had to harvest them 1-2 weeks before average date)... so i hope i have a better second half of the summer and a good autumn ... but overal... 2024 is painfull ;)
Greetings. Wow weather has really been out of whack. I'll hope for the best for you.

Can you recommend a brand of water soluble fertilizer that you talk in the video, and what should the NPK numbers be.
Organic. I recommend Agrothrive which is in my video description. Fish emulsion is fine. As long as NPK is represented. For the chemical types, 1/2 strength Miracle Gro, Plant Expert or Vigoro works.

I’m going to direct sow a few herbs and vegetables this afternoon. Can I start tomatoes and peppers indoors for transplanting in late August? I’m in Calvert County Md.
Not sure ur zone but most gardeners can re-plant a fall garden around Sept.
Peppers probably not but determinate tomato yes. I would try direct sowing them btw.

Hello.
I have a question, please.
Do I have to be concerned about grazon in topsoil? I am having landscaping work done to remove buried rocks and bricks, and I'll be filling with topsoil. I heard someone say grazon can be in topsoil.
I wouldnt worry. Anyway you could not figure out if it is there or not. You can always ask where the topsoil came from but again, unless it comes from a farm that used grazon, you couldn't know. And it's not used randomly.
