In this video, we take a look at the Aircraft made by Ferrari! Piaggio Avanti.
We take a look at the features of the plane, and how it works. You'll be amazed at just how beautiful and powerful this aircraft is! - Наука та технологія
My favorite non-jet jet aircraft.
Nothing sounds like it.
Simply Beautiful!
It is a jet aircraft - it has two jet engines which turn propellers rather than blow air.
@@hb1338So it's not a jet aircraft.
@arbazann It is a prop-jet.
I noticed one this morning 7:06UTC above my house. What a noise, what an appearance.
Very comprehensive video. I'm quite clear now on this aeroplane ✈️
AMAZING AMAZING VIDEO. so in-depth. Thanks.
Beautiful plane. Bravo Italia.
I fly one of these, it's an awesome aircraft. The two things I dislike the most are getting in and out of the cockpit and installing the flight controls lock. Engine torque control, especially during take-off, is pretty tricky. The response curve of the power levers is difficult to get used to at first.
Not so sure a pair of skies would fit in the cabin baggage compartment though. I've never tried it so may be surprised.
Subscribed. Checked out one of your videos and awesomeness.
A pair of "skies" would be hard to fit in there. Now, you might have better luck with a pair of skis Get rid of the Autocorrect!
Are parts overpriced? Are they difficult to get serviced in the US
excellent plane, I love it
Been waiting for this one! ❤️🥰
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@pilotsnotes3989 Totally did ✨
its amazing to watch.
The best overall review of the plane, I overlooked it a few times but glad I finally watched it. Would love to see it in a V tail instead of a T tail
What would be the difference in flight characteristics, having a V tail? I know some high performance planes have them. Not sure what it does for pitch control and movements?
@@waterlife.1905 Significant reduction in drag and improved range due to less resistance, pitch should be fairly responsive due to the flaps on the canards. I know the Fouga Magister and YF-23 had a 30 % reduction of induced and parasitic drag having a V-tail over a vertical stabiliser, there is also a significant weight reduction using 2 surface areas instead of 3, most likely smoother yaw, pitch and roll movement too. I would make a few more modifications to the fuselage, windows, wings and access hatches
@@SGTMARSHALL1 30 percent is huge. Makes sense because your losing 1/3 of your "stuff" in the back of the plane. Thanks for replying and the insight. I always attributed it to the angles and how they could mitigate the slip stream. And I also hear it's quirky handling sometimes.
@@waterlife.1905 I would imagine that a professional design and set up would deliver improved handling results, most military drones and unmanned support aircraft ( Ghost Bat ) are V-tail with minimal adverse control issues and performance and range seems to increased over traditional designs such as the round tubular fuselage and standard tail or T-tail configuration
@@SGTMARSHALL1 V-tails can be problematic because they behave very differently from conventional vertical stabilisers - the problem is more the difference than the actual handling characteristics. This doesn't matter in an unmanned aircraft which is driven by an algorithm rather than a human.
This turboprop shines!
Nice video.,
I am really having interest in this aircraft.
@Operator Starsky led us here. ❤✈
Beautiful plane indeed.
But in italian you don’t have to pronunce the second “i” in the word “Piaggio”. When there is a “i” after “g” (or “c”) it is mute. It serves only to make the “g” sounds like “j” instead of “g”.
It is like PIÀJJO, not PIÀJJIO
Happy are the rich who want this and can buy it and feed it and keep it new for as long as they want.
@15:30, get rid of Collin Pro-Line and install Garmin G3000. Piaggio deserves the latest and greatest avionics.
Somewhat surprised that they didn't come up with this in the 80s
Ferrari did the leather interior. That's it.
Oh look, it's an Italian Beechcraft Starship.
The Piaggios are beautiful planes. They're also super loud. I remember hearing one flying over Texas... And I was in California at the time.
it's not really a loudness problem but one of different sound frequencies due to the rearward facing propellers. the same sound output limitations apply to the Piaggio as to the others. anyway, i like the sound it makes, especially when flying in one! 😏👌
@@kittytrail No, it "makes that sound" due to the propellers being shorter than others like them. "Why" is ground clearance.
More like made by Vespa
Either way it wasn’t “made by Ferrari” it was designed in the 80s long before the Ferrari family took a small position in the company
Great video, I have a question, isn't the company Bankrupted ?
As far as i know it is still in production
The Government took over and military contracts continued to breathe new life into the company
@@pilotsnotes3989 So, Piaggio P180 Avanti 1 - 2 -Evo. It's actually one of the best in the class or perhaps the best Turbotrop/Private jet out there. With its distinct design that not all would be pleased. But this was all engineered & made for a purpose. Especially the engine, the sound of the turbine & the backwards propellers. I can't wait for the next evolution of this plane. I hope they would make it more roomy, longer & technically sophisticated in their next model.
No wonder, Aprilia RS-Gp prototype they use in #MotoGP share its design. This was the one they have got their inspiration. It's all about branding. Eventhough the rest of the competition have move onto different design, Aprilia kept this one until today. 👏
I want that plane.
At 9:30 you can see that this plane only works if you put an stick on it's back! No other plane has this ability!
The is no connection between Piaggio and Ferrari, unless the person responsible for the styling trained there.
Please can I know the annual cost for the maintenance of this aircraft ?
Hi! Sure, I'll gladly help You. Please e-mail me contact.pilotsnotes@gmail.com.
Thanks
Consider this. It was made by the company that makes Vespa scooters so it has more scooter DNA than a Ferrari.
It's just dubbed as a Ferrari of the sky due to the fact that it is made in Italy & the performance is top notch from it's class.
But design wise it all screams Piaggio & actually designed by their engineers. No Ferrari whatsoever beside Enzo son Peiro being a shareholder to make this project.
The original idea was a joint venture between Piaggio and Learjet, then the yanks pulled out.
Price ?
Great...so its guaranteed to breakdown every other weekend
Nope, it is not made by Boeing.
"Made by Ferrari"
what the hell is he talking about..?
😊Davide, maybe you don't know that the Ferrari is famous even for the Vespa and the Ape ua-cam.com/video/35jqsKMeak4/v-deo.html
Nonsense. Designed and made by Piaggio Aero. I worked with the Piaggio team in the early 90's and met Rinaldo Piaggio - the Company owner, at the time. It was considered as "the Ferrari of the sky" for its styling and its performance only.
@@janhawranke8064 the claim must have something to do with Piero Ferrari (Enzo Ferrari's son) being a Piaggio shareholder, or former manager, or both, i cannot recall it precisely now and i'm too lazy to check it out.
Agree, shareholder is different from being a designer & engineer. Therefore, I don't think Ferrari (Fiat group) have something to do with this plane. It's obvious that it looks so Piaggio.
I'm not saying it's bad because it's not. It's actually one of the best or perhaps the best Turbotrop/private jet out there. With its distinct design that not all would be pleased. But this was all engineered & made for a purpose. Especially the engine, the sound of the turbine & the backwards propellers. I can't wait for the next evolution of this plane. 5:13 high efficiency with carbon deposit on the propeller 🤔
Lear was on to something
Well done but it never made the cut….the maint costs were crazy high. Cost to buy as well….BUT BOY COULD IT MOVE. Not bad flying but the pilot windshield was tough. The Lear fan if it had made it would have been better and Bill Lear had this idea years ago…Same with Paulson and Gulfstream with the pusher they came up with.
😂😂😂😂
Great plane but I would have rather listen to the commentary in the beautiful Italian language.
Host makes quite a few technical errors in this video. A metal airplane isnt necessarily better than composite being one of them.
This aircraft is not made by Ferrari Welcome to the Internet.
Of course it's not for someone who knows.
Mechanic who worked on these for years here. This aircraft is a nightmare. Access to systems requiring normal service is terrible, systems are poorly designed (nws, door seal, fwd wing anti ice, no anti skid or touchdown protection) the dispatch reliability sucks. Parts are insanely expensive and hard to come by and Piaggio as a company gives you zero support. Don’t even get me started on how nasty those props look after just a 2 hour flight. King Air’s and XLS’s are a much better option for buyers in this category and will have significantly lower DOC’s.
I've heard that Piaggio sent a killer to kill customers too. Any witnesses as well.
That's great input Stephen, thank you. Do you believe that some of those problems could be easily corrected or is any of it "designed-in atrocious"?
Looks like a Cessna Starship.
Raytheon Beechcraft made the Starship One. Never was a Cessna. Airframe was developed by the Rutan Brothers and all composite. So durable that one suffered a gear up landing with practically zero damage. The downfall of the Starship was due to Beech's decision to allow only one company to do all repairs to be paid by Beech. They took advantage of the monopoly and over billed Beech for services. Beech finally recalled all of the aircraft since most were leased and offered King Airs to the customers. There were several Owned aircraft whose owners refused to give up the aircraft. They were allowed to keep the aircraft and they even wound up purchasing unique parts from the recalled airframes and several airframes were sold complete to owners for parts only. One group even managed to purchase two airframes without an airworthiness certificate. The group managed to fully recertify the aircraft as an Experimental.
It cost Beech more money to destroy the remaining airframes since they were composite frames and there was only one certified recycler who was certified to handle composite materials. Two costly mistakes for Beechcraft.
I still think there is no external servicing of the lav. That is tough for an old fart like me! If I had the money, which I don't, I would never buy this just because it lacks that option. Other than that I never met anyone who disliked it. It was lacking in range but he the EVO seems to have corrected that.
If I bought any airplane it would be a "No Crappin" plane. I don't care how or what people have to do but they won't be crappin on my plane. Your in a pressurized sealed floating at the mercy of the atmosphere, vessel. My plane would have utmost resale value because I would advertise the unused toilet/bathroom.
@@waterlife.1905 human nature pal
@@waterlife.1905 Congratulations - you have just halved the plane's range without touching any aerodynamic surfaces.
@@hb1338 lol. I would mandate everyone to take a antidiarrheal pill and no beverages will be served during flight or 3 hours prior to take off. Keep em constipated until they get to the hotel and can take a load off so to speak. I would even seal the bathroom and put a lock on the bathroom door until I sell the aircraft. "Cessna Citation X-Low Hours, pristine shape, unused, untouched brand new, factory condition bathroom with certificate of authenticity about unused condition." Would sell to a germ a phobe or a King who knows he is the only one chosen to sit upon and use the Citation crapper.
'promosm' 😆
Germany like study engine ferrarri , you like ?
AVANTHi
I hope its more reliable than Ferrari cars.
"Made by Ferrari" is the wrong reference. It means it breaks all the time ; the parts are impossible to find and overpriced, and it spends half the time in the garage.
What you are claiming here is FALSE, Ferrari car manufacturer (You used their logo) has absolutely NO ties with PIAGGIO AERO which is owned by Tata Ltd 44.5% and Mubadala 41%. Piero Ferrari, Enzo's son who's trust has 10,39 % in Ferrari, has only 2% of SHARES in Piagio Aero. Ferrari biggest single share holder is Exor N.V. owned by the Agnelli Family.
Piaggio is Vespa. Did they buy Ferrari?
I dont see any prancing horses on it…
Worked on them as mx ,fast load and made like shit.
It looks like a catfish...
Not made by…
Its made by Piaggio the owner of Vespa and Aprilia scooters. Soiys a Vespa. Ot Ferrari. There are no prancing horses on it…
@@solarfry On one occasion, long after the aircraft was designed and had been flying for years the company was near bankrupt, this is when Ferrari stepped in and bought the company. Ferrari had nothing to do with the design development or certification of this aircraft.
Ferraris break all the time. Aircraft? Forget it! 😅😅😅😅😅
Ferrari is the ultimate in reliability. WTF are you talking?
Actually Ferraris are in fact very reliable but owners do not adhere to the manufactures Ridiculous maintenance regime. You pay more in maintenance if you drive it regularly for one year than the car is worth just to keep it running. So technically your both right SMH

It is better than Boeing with 737 Max
Don't worry, Ferrari don't make this. One of the Ferrari family members is/was on the board of directors and the Ferrari Scudaria F1 team own two.
why have someone who dresses and looks like a complete goof ball present such a wonderful plane ??
Wide? Noooo. I am not convinced.
The noisiest plane, it’s been banned at some airports.
The new p180 Evo has solved the problem...
Hoping it doesn't have Ferrari reliability
Ferrari is the ultimate in reliability.
... or Charles Leclerc as the pilot.
Oh wow, I used to like the Avanti. Now that I know that it’s made by Ferrari I’ll avoid it.
This plain is NOT the most environmentally efficient plane AT ALL! The Nextant 400XT and the Syberjet are both more efficient because they use less fuel per hour to fly over close to-500 NM! This aircraft flying at top speed will use more fuel than its standard fuel burn.
The Nextant 400XT has the headroom fit for a midget Filipino and the cabin width is 2 Feet smaller meaning short anorexic passengers so of course it would be more efficient but it's not in the same class as a Piaggio
Fushalidge
*Ferrari doesn't make Piaggio*
Ferrari is a major partner and they are part of the production
Ferrari DID NOT make the Avanti
Great aircraft. Poor presenter. Appearance is disrespectful to viewers.
A bit disappointing in its looks. I expected more from Ferrari. The Starship was so beautiful! The Avanti just looks a little odd.... Like someone built it in their garage.
The Starship was nice looking, but those long gear, and straight up vertical "tip sails", combined with the little fin on tip of tail cone, through to asethetics off for me. Avanti would be my choice if I could choose based on looks alone.
@@Southwest_923WR Looks like an upside down Oscar Meyer Weiner mobile.
