    I remember that. I was SAR in 1988 SH-3A Sea King aircraft though. Looks like some of the equipment has not changed much.

      I loved it too but I hated the night training. I did not like swimming with sharks in the dark. 1967-1971 HC-6

    Still use those auto inflate vests? I bet you young guys today get those mini O2 tanks to submerge with in hostile waters?

    what's the difference between dry and wet? I kinda want to do something with helicopters. is there anyway to guarantee a slot with helicopters? I ship out next year.

      They wouldn't let me go! Apparently they felt a PH3 with a TS clearance didn't warrant spending the money. But it was fine to send IS people

      Cookie Crumbs if you’re aircrew you’re part of an aviation squadron. You’ll do deployments on ship but squadrons are all land based. You’ll only live on board when deployed

      Are you in about in training or in real life situations? But in training they’ll be training in places that aren’t populated with sharks, and they’ll probs carry a knife to jab it in the nose. In real life situations everyone has a weapon. Even if your just a chef on board, you’ll need a weapon to protect yourself. And the Heli’s they board have massive fuck off machine guns and launchers. Also aircrewman are highly armed with rifles and anything as they will visit front lines and dangerous areas. I’ve probably not answered your question correctly. But hopefully you got some answer. I’m no aircrewman but I’m doing my research for training to be one

    I have a serious question what is the difference between the Navy & Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer ?

    • @williamv.4711
      @williamv.4711 5 років тому +2

      Jesus R. Perez Navy for anywhere in the world to go rescue our troops or any American citizen outside the motherland. Coast guard for any inside mission inside the motherland!

      I agree as a rescue swimmer (8215) and Utility aircrewman (8216) my rescues were all overseas in open water miles and miles from any land. Jumped out many times and then moved up to the crewchief position and ran the hoist and controlled the swimmer insertions. Fun both ways

    Can I do this if I wear glasses? With glasses I see 20/20 so will I need to wear contacts or is it fine if I wear glasses under the goggles?

    is there a way to go from air crew dry to air crew wet?

    • @andreco8192
      @andreco8192 9 років тому

      go dry man. im in naccs right now and a lot of people regret going wet just because you have to deal with a lot more bs , unless thats what you really wanna do.

    • @r1cky87
      @r1cky87  9 років тому

      Are you in the navy already? I've rarely seen it done but it's happened before. They've talked to the instructors at aircrew school and RSS over and over and proved themselves they were physically fit and were able to get switched. It's not an easy process though. So if you haven't joined yet, talk to your recruiter. If you have joined and you want it badly, show them, and maybe you'll get lucky.

    • @r1cky87

      +Ricky thanks bro great info... I'm in the Navy challenge program I got an AIRR contract. I won't be shipping till next year so I was offered to take a air crewman dry contract for Oct 7th. Im going to take it because I can't afford to wait that long for some financial reasons. I just wanted to know my options after boot camp. I'm in good shape. Your info helped out tho. Will I have to mention it to someone at NACS when I get there after boot camp?

    • @andreco8192
      @andreco8192 9 років тому

      +Kaaukea youre chances are super slim as once you have a contract your kinda stuck with it... dry is a good gig though. aircrew in general is awesome. im here at naccs right now and i class up on Monday

    • @r1cky87
      @r1cky87  7 років тому +2

      Physically, the training was a bit tough but if you're in shape and like working out, you'll have fun. I enjoyed every second of it. And mentally for me, wasn't that difficult. But to each their own.
