  • Halloween Weekend Hike - October 25-26, 2019 we hiked Mount Emmons (elevation 4,040 feet) and Donaldson Mountain (elevation 4,361 feet), approx. 16.5 mile hike, Elevation Gain: approx. 3,658 feet. Adirondack High Peaks, (46ers) The Seward Range, NY.
We started at the Corey’s Road Trailhead and camped at a primitive site off the Calkin’s Creek Trail, then took the Calkin's Brook Herd Path. This is a pleasant trail as ADK goes. Steep towards Donaldson, but no more than most. Donaldson to Emmons trail was MUDDY. There are views from the peaks, and some nice views along the way from Donaldson to Emmons. Our plan was to also hike Seward Mountain and do the loop back out the Blueberry Trail but to do all 3 would have been an undertaking; it was 3 pm and a lot of calculations being made. It would have been a long day...in the end, we decided to leave Seward for another time. we got back to the car at dusk at approx. 6:30 pm.
