Hi Amanda! Elaine here! I wonder if it's that male wolf that had a crush on Peach from last year? Or a young male that is from a past litter that was getting too big for his britches in his pack, so he got sent packing. The deer may be smart (when there's a wolf around) to hang around humans during the day, because by now they know you aren't going to harm them. It would be highly unusual for a wolf to come around people, especially in daylight, ( for those that don't know). I wonder if Peach would follow you if you were in the kayak? You could paddle around and it would be fun for you both. Great video! Peach is so adorable!
i did go out in the kayak once and Peach ran along the shore crying at me, slipping and sliding on rocks. it broke my heart. i might try and get her out in the canoe when (if) it warms up a bit. i don't know what time of day that wolf came around. i know the feces wasn't there at around 7PM the night before and i discovered it at around 10AM. dunno. thanks for watching :)

wow, thanks so much :). i'm kinda used to seeing bears now... still always very careful and cautious, but i'm used to it. the wolves are a new thing for me. still getting used to them :). thanks for watching!

Always look forward to your videos every Sunday you live a beautiful life just don't understand how come you don't make more of the ocean and the seafood that's around you and it's free food I love the ocean and I love all the food that's in it it's so good for you and don't understand why you don't eat more of it when it's right in front of you very good video as always take care and be safe
i did get my fishing license last year. the issue is time. my job here in the summer keeps me busy enough, but on top of that i have my freelance work that i do. i am busy from the moment i rise to the moment i go to sleep. also, the boat that is provided here for me in the summer is for supply runs. it's not really a boat for me to use for other purposes. the owners would likely not have an issue with me using it for fishing, but with the cost of fuel etc. i just don't feel like it would be appropriate :).

yes!! i was pretty shocked when i saw the 💩. my first concern was that it was cougar 💩, but i quickly realized it was wolf and then a whole 'nother set of concerns kicked in :).

Thank you re: buttercup - I miss her terribly. Peach unfortunately doesn't get along well with other dogs. She's quite a bully. Perhaps in time, but for now it just wouldn't work. Also, if I decide to move back onto my boat someday I could only have 1 dog.

Your videos are calm and a pleasure to watch. I would have thought that was bear poop being black. But then we have no wolves on the Lower Mainland so have never seen wolf poop. I do sometimes wonder if what I assume to be dog poop left by ignoramus people, might actually be coyote. Especially on forest trails. I guess I best look up a poop guide 😆
i knew it wasn't bear poop cause of what was in it. black bears generally don't eat deer so there'd be no bone and hair. also the shape tells you alot :). you'd notice the same in coyote poop... lots of fur and bones.

The wildlife in your life is just insane (well, I grew up in London, UK so a rat was about all I saw!)
this made me laugh :)! yes, there is so much wildlife here. much of the Broughton Archipelago is untouched by humans so the bears, wolves, cougars etc. have it pretty good here. the poor whales though have to avoid cruise ships and cargo ships :(.
Once again, a pleasure watching you as another week goes by. I can’t wait to see you next week. I never tire of your talks and working around the property. Hope your week will not be difficult with guests this week.
Wow, thank you! Guests so far have all been pretty great. They generally keep to themselves. I always try and make myself as scarce as possible as I want them to experience the peace and solitude in it's fullest :)

it does stay cooler here, yes. which i love. it is abnormally cool and rainy for end of June though. Looking at the high for the next week it looks like we'll have 1 day with a high of 14C, but average will be about 11C.
A good command i used w my dog that was effective is leave it. Leave it. The Monks of New Skete is the best dog training booķ imho. Thanks❤
yes, peach knows leave it very well :). very very well. however, when it comes to deer 💩. 'leave it', high reward treats etc... all mean nothing. that girl!!

naw. i have traveled all around the world, .trekked to everest base camp, walked the camino de santiago, hiked in the amazon jungle, traveled all through europe, been to asia... this is exactly where i want to be :). i love it!

Hi Amanda nice to see ya and Peach again. Its been 40 celcius here in London , Ontario ( 104) with humidity all darn week, Finally it has cooled down to 26 C, you're lucky it's been cool there That is a nice size cabin you were fixing up. Lots of work around there to keep ya busy , looks awesome . Id want to protect my dog too from the wildlife , Deer & moose pack a killer kick. Wolf well we know about them trying to coax the dogs , soon Peach won't be bothered by them . God bless stay safe .

What did you use for laundry soap? No fabric softener?
the owners use truearth detergent. i can't use it or fabric softener as it's terrible on my eczema. the first load i put in the dryer were my clothes :). i did use fabric softener on the duvet covers :)
Peach might smell like a young male - if fixed.
Female wolves tend to lure young male puppies into the woods,
where the pack is just waiting....

yes. i think in the spring time during mating season Peach was definitely being hunted. they tried to lure her out a few times, but i had her on leash. they're tricky little suckers!

Will it get warm enough there with summer to not have to wear a big jacket and hat?
i hope so. when i was filming that last week it was around 12C. i forget that it's actually warmer in other parts of BC :). i will always wear a hat though (maybe a baseball cap when it's warmer) as i am terrified of ticks!!
@AmandaOffGrid Hasn't been super warm here either. We just had two days in mid 20s but cooled off again. I have bought a nice sun hat in anticipation. Tracy in Qualicum Beach in 5th wheel down by the river
You don't want her to actually get shot for a dog that chases deer to kill them she probably would never kill a deer but she could be mistaken for
no hunting allowed on this island :). if Peach ever caught up to a deer she wouldn't know what to do with herself. the other day we stumbled across a bird that had hit a picture window. when she saw it she went to chase it and when it didn't fly away it stopped her in her tracks. she sat by it and looked up at me and whined - haha!

I know you get to live on such a great place as caretaker- you do get paid as well?? It’s not just the place to live and the caretaker part is paying for your lodgings ??
yes, she is spayed. This is a paying job. Doesn't pay a ton, but I have some freelance work I do to supplement. I definitely couldn't make it work if I didn't have side gigs :)
