As others have pointed out, there seems to be a problem where if there is a Dino wipe, hardly any wyverns will respawn in the trench. I initially had a ‘regular’ amount of wyverns spawn in the trench, but after a dino wipe I did after changing the server difficulty to the same as official, people were complaining that the trench was barren of any wyverns. Surprisingly enough though, the eggs seemed to have no problems spawning despite the seeming lack of wyverns to produce them. The production of eggs leads into my theory that the wyverns are spawning, but then are rapidly despawning. For instance, I had a max level poison fly high out of the trench towards the green obelisk and haven’t seen it since it went out of render distance. I’ve also had quite a few that disappeared in the trench after they went out of render distance of anyone nearby. But like you pointed out, it could’ve just been that they died to the lava or a creature. However the sheer amount that seem to go missing makes me doubt that is the only factor causing the disappearing wyverns.
They're absurdly basic, the balance between the four is ludicrously uneven, and you can really tell they're 10 years old, but being a fast flying statball with a ranged attack that can pick has always been more than good enough for both pvp and pve so they will never be touched because a creature being usable is all we can ask of wildcard's inept lazy asses
Is it me or did they make the wyvern colors better in ascended? Because I’ve seen wyverns with a lot more vibrant colors in ascended. Also every time I find an egg it always matches the levels of the male wyverns I find and never the females, is this just a coincidence or is this a problem?
Not just you I use to only really egg hunt at holidays for fun colors (I don’t have the time for crazy amounts of breeding) so it’s just better for me since I play single player primarily
Sense they added a crap ton of shades of dye they also added a lot more colors that Dino’s can naturally spawn hint wyverns spawning with lighter and dark reds, blue, orange and even black and white I’ve seen
I was also wondering what it was, went to the trench on our server for the first time yesterday and saw the black line. Was stuck between if it’s a glitch or intentional and figured it would need way more detail if so
As far as the Wyverns in the Trench, if you Dino wipe, not many spawn back for some reason. If I start a server and do not wipe, there is a ton in the trench, but if you dino wipe, very few ever spawned back even weeks later. Even in Single Player

I'm playing on singleplayer and when I went to the trench there were loads of them everywhere. Although, there seems to be a bug where if you kill a creature before another one has had a chance to respawn and log out it will make the creature count in that region -1 until you use a dino wipe command. It happened to me with water creatures on the Island and it was really annoying. I know from past video's that your mates have been to the trench before you, so it's possible that you guys could be bugged as well. I recommend a dino wipe just to be sure.

The first time we tried getting eggs, my brother and I farmed up an insane amount of metal and built a giant rake in the sky. Something our flyers could get through, but wyverns couldn't. Such overkill.
Cant wait to see the colors!!!!! I remember the struggles when Ragnarok first came out and the trenches were overflowed with wyverns. Nightmares.... But I still got my first poison wyvern then and discovered their spit can kill the rider, even from your own bloody mount...
Hey Syntac I have been playing schorched in the ASE and i just build a little ouptost with turrets and agroing wyverns and just lead them to the outpost. now i have lvl 185 poison egg and 150 lightening. About 150 talons all togehter. All artifacts as well and gonna fight the manticore tomorrow for a first time ever. Wish me luck aye. Love your content and all the best with your play trough
The wyverns 'pine for the fjords' and fly to the center of the map really easily, nevermind there's just not that many spawned at any one time like there was in ASE.
I know in ASE the first time you go in the wyvern trench was kind of nice, less wyverns so you grab all the eggs you can and run for the hills. Also remove all the eggs or just grab from nest and toss so more spawn.
If I had a nickel for every time a Wyvern spawned near green OB I would have two nickels. Which is not a lot but the fact that it happened on two separate playthroughs is kind of weird right??? 11:46
They changed the aggro time of wyvern. I guess this is because of a better egg spwan rate. Once you aggroed the wyvern, and they lost aggro, they fly up on the mountain and disappear. So with the wyvern yours fly out about 100-200m and they won’t touch you anyways
I made my first attempt to get wyvern eggs earlier today on The Lost Island. Got the eggs and the milk and only lost one Ptera in the process...I was expecting to get wrecked but the wild ones are kind of glass cannons.
Watching these videos makes me want to get into Ark but I have no idea where to start. Any recommendations? I definitely don't have a PC for this, would prefer to use a gaming laptop
I remember the old days of the World Scar, where you couldn’t spyglass a mantis without getting mobbed by wyverns. Good times. Also, Syntac, fliers on my single player are getting points in Oxygen. I don’t know why, but I am not sure if you have addressed it in a video or noticed yourself or if it’s just a me thing.

The wyverns in scorched earth just seem to vanish, in me and my mates server were took a few eggs and then a large group of them disappeared after 2/3 mins of dropping the eggs off and going back, dunno if it’s a render issue or the pathing is sending them into the lava and dying😊
That line in the trench appears on others I follow as well. I play on Xbox with a crummy tv so I can’t tell you from my experience but yeah it’s not just you.
Ok I just wanted to ask a question about PC’s or graphics. So I have Ark Acceded download on a hard drive so I can play but when I enter a single player it is always so laggy. lve tried messing with the settings and putting things on low and whatnot, and it’s still laggy. I’ve also tried to research on the internet and even had my dad with his tech savvy knowledge try and help me but it’s no use. I have a LEGION gaming laptop. It’s only a couple years old, but what do you recommend would help, or what PC do you think would be better than a LEGION to run the game?
Wyverns are tethered to the trench now so you can't kite them away anymore, they will eventually de aggro then fly in the opposite direction and despawn which probably explains why you don't find any outside the trench now and why so few nests have a parent flying around. Also are you using a mod to buff dino levels? Or someone that just finds high levels for you? you always seem to get max or near max levels, 4 eggs in and you got a near max lightning wyvern seems very far fetched unless one of the other guys found it and left it for you. I have 3 refrigerators (240+ eggs) filled with eggs I accumulated over 50ish hrs in the trench and the highest I have ever found was a 175, and 170 poison, a 155 fire, highest lightning I have is 105.

I just wish wyverns got a TLC or something. Like new ability's, a saddle just something. Best creature in the game

They could definitely use a model overhaul, I think they should have the glide ability that griffin's have too for the wingspan they've got

@@Thefatlizardguy I don’t remember wyverns spawning in vibrant oranges, reds, blues, yellow, and purples by default
They also just added a lot more colors in general so they may have added some shades and brighter colors to the natural ones they can spawn with

I keep finding bright blue argy’s. I think it’s just Dino’s in general
that black line could be a geological boundary layer. But if the devs wanted geological details, there should be more layering

That line in the scar is from the recent patch they changed the dimensions of the map to fix cave drops and it had unintended consequences

you should make a cool looking mutated wyvern. I've seen you do other creatures but, I've never seen you do a wyvern.

I'm not sure if wyvern numbers in the trench is a server issue. In my single player the trench is rammed full of wyverns ... it's terrifying!!!!

The wyverns despawn really quickly all you need to do is go out of render and poof they're gone which sucks.
I think you're thinking of your rag series when it came out tons were in the trench
Syntax tame some rock golems and use tham as base defence as thay hide very well and axe just made one of the easiest trap to tame them

My single player game has so many wyverns in the trench that its actually super difficult to get near a nest 😅
