Story: The pentagon is experimenting with element 115, within the labs, these labs could be at Rebirth Island, since during the mission “Rebirth” we fight enemies inside a lab, with monkeys being experimented that looks exactly identical to the one we go through in zombies. Element 115 goes critical and infects the laboratory. The zombies use the teleporter to get to the pentagon and infects the entire place. Eventually the zombie say get to the office, and encounter Kennedy, and the rest of the crew. Because Kennedy knows about the experiments with 115 and he is prepared and knows that this might’ve happened. So he has a gun locker incase this happens. This is obviously not cannon to the CoD campaign.

My 9 year old self had no idea about zombies I thought it was just a cutscene at the End of the game so I just skipped it and then I spawn into the pentagon l I was like “oh cool you can walk around the pentagon but why do I have a gun then” and then I heard the zombies and I quit that game as fast as I could

As goofy as this opening is, Five is a surprisingly spooky map to play solo. There's a lot of little creepy details. The first floor is mostly clean and spotless, but when you move to the war room, you notice more blood smears on the walls and behind the barriers. In particular the one next to the elevator which has a dead guy at the top of the stairs. The laboratories are soaked in blood, implying it's where the zombie outbreak began. There's more bodies behind the barriers and one zombie window you can see part of the MDT. According to Treyarch, one of the corpses in the morgue is Sgt Roebuck from WaW. "Damned" playing softly in the background is the cherry on top.
It's always when you don't need it the most, tho. Those times where you'd get a max ammo, then the game's like "I'll give you another one 30 seconds later. But enjoy it, because your next one is 6 rounds from now!"
I can just imagine before and during the cutscene. During Classified, Ultimus were killing Zombies and Nova Zombies and then at round 150 that was when Five started

I remember every time my parents went to work I stayed with my grandma and playBO 1 zombies all day straight. And now I bought it on steam. Time to back to good old times 😎

Man when I was 7, this map was so fun, the teleportation, the defcon system for the Pack a Punch, and even Eminem easter egg song!
Playing this map in 2024 is like going back to your old home you lived in as a child and always abit scared of the place but still feels comfortable
