I know what you mean. Although they are compared because of their connection to each other, I find that hard because I don't really think that their music is similar. Anton made that 60's sound modern and even better than it was in the past but the dandies are like psychedelic stoner rock. They also seem to take sounds from the past though and make something new and brilliant with them. I do think that Anton seems to just create brilliance almost by accident whereas Courtney Taylor Taylor has described creating music as a difficult, dark process. So, in that respect perhaps Anton's level of genius is simply higher than his. Like how in Dig! Courtney said that he "sneezes and hits come out". I don't think that's true. He works hard at it but for Anton he just seems to exists to make music; a mind blowing level of talented music. I actually believe it's divinely inspired. I'm not saying Jesus or even anything necessarily religious but something "other worldly."
David Clapp I agree with both yours and Beth's comments. I'm totally enslaved to the BJM rather than the Dandy's - although I do like them. But I listen and watch everything to do with Anton et al ❤
This record & Strung Out in Heaven are so damn amazing! Reminds me so much on those great years living in Sf, Ca when living there was actually a pleasure and not the pain it’s now become.
@@aaroncollistermusic5622 Yesss! Half the reason I listen to the song so often is the bass. It drives the song. The opening always gives me shivers. Pure bliss.
@0.09 i had to do 🐾 as atm tbh i do think i will crack up with any more possible and or potential painful stimulations as right now i am at extreme fragility point . Would love to do listening 🎼🎼 storm is not helping . Will try again tomorrow . You my favourite person / artist / poet/ musician / etc ❤ 🤕 Thank you 💡
+Tobias Redford Not sure if you're trolling, but if you're not, check out the movie "Dig! A Documentary", it's about the Dandy Warhols/Brian Jonestown Massacre's "love/hate" relationship with each other. This album was written by BJM on the hate side of that spectrum. I mean, one of the songs is titled, "Not if You Were the Last Dandy on Earth."
+West Endians, inc. wasn't trolling just surprised to hear it. I've seen dig, that's when I first heard of BJM. The Dandy Warhols were a gateway drug to BJM and many other bands.
it clearly shows Anton showing matt the some of the songs on this album in the movie DIG. Strung Out In Heaven i heard would never of been finished without Matt Hollywood though.
i wanna know how anton recorded 'thank god for mental ilness for what amount? $13 lol what a weird amount haha. studio costs back then were quite a bit of money. and even with a home studio...pressing the record costs alot more than $13...

WebDreggie I'm not being negative. I love BJM but Anton rips off other songs all the time and they're known as '60s revivalists' as in they're taking their sounds from 60s bands. Not original at all.
WebDreggie Listen to the second song on this album then listen to 'I'm gonna feel a whole lot better' by The Byrds (type that into UA-cam). You will see what I mean.
I'm in southern Spain, the sun is shining, the doors and windows are open, this album is playing and there is only now. The world feels good.
sounds like youre under lsd lol

I love you. Can I come visit?
it's a joke because it is a stereo typical way of describing the here and now while under the influence of LSD.

Excellence. Anton knows how to compose like no other. What a contemporary. So much love.
i DIG the brian jonestown massacre eons more than the dandy warhols

+Never Theless then they will have no problem supplying you're handkerchief's, just thought that was a funny line from. DIG! TDW vs The BJM
i could not agree with your comment more beth. you literally said everything i would've said

Yeaaa.... agreed. I love me some Dandy Warhols but Anton is truly the messiah of rock n roll. There is no comparison.
I bought this album for $8 NZD in the bargain bin .
I don't understand this world anymore.
worth every penny I only hope it was the original and not "A" records reissued
this album is about you, about your friendly unknown

I love how this record opens up with a sample of the opening to "...The Dandy Warhols Come Down" by the Dandy Warhols. So shameless.
ever hear not if you're the last dandy DUH
Servo is the archetypal BJM psychedelic song . Fluid guitar, snippets of flute , trippy lyrics and haunting but clear vocals are the main components
Cream of the crop, la crème de la crème, best of the best. Just a fantastic album.
Masterpiece record, Recorded and written in a week in Los Angeles
One of my favourites, this and Methadrone with the most perfect Arthur Lee riff this side of Love!
Whoever you are is sheer sheer heaven
Nothing compares to that song in my mind. Just total love
Yes it most certainly is heaven.

Love this! BEST BJM!!!
really great album, very powerful. would like to see them on a gig when they would come to europe
Matt gets no credit for Not If You Were The Last Dandy On Earth. Totally his baby.
The opening to this album is identical to the opening of Dandy Warhols Come Down...

same intro in the white album from the dandy wharols
"Matt Hollywood secretly wrote this entire album, and Anton helped produce & recorded it".
Seriously? Do you know where I can get information about this great band?

It's Anton's brother.
Jenco Neruda
