Your videos and fly tying instruction are really some of the best on UA-cam. Continue the great work!
Thanks a lot! Appreciate the compliment. I will continue to put out content for you all as much as I can.
Instead of nail polish put a small drop of uv on top of the fly hit it with uv light color it with black sharpie marker then put on another coat when you do the whole fly same black case but faster then nail polish
Great idea for sure! Thanks for watching!
Fancy looking fly man .
haha Yeah, very complex. 😂
Thanks for the video. I think I will tie half a dozen tomorrow morning. These should work extremely well on our local rivers.
You're welcome! Let me know how they work. I assume they'll work well!
Nice tie man. I do pretty much the same exact fly in a variety of colors. So simple and so productive.
Definitely. My favorite part of any simple fly is I'm not scared to lose it by putting in the right places because I can tie 12 of these in probably 20 minutes.
Nice job. Suggestion: you won’t be disappointed using a rotary vice. To keep things affordable, several true rotary vices in the $150-200 price range that are well made and should last a lifetime. Most are machined stainless with brass. A couple use some plastics such as options and thumb screws. The biggest advantage is how much time they save you, thus increasing output in a one time setting. I tied on a stationary vice for many years and they are some of the best vices too! Tight lines and lots of fish to you.
Thank you! I'll have to consider this if I ever decide to look for a new vise.
Great fly. Thanks for sharing
No problem man. Glad you enjoyed it!
Haven't gotten into the uv resin yet. Definitely going to have to try.
Yeah, it's not too hard to work with and can make some awesome flies and protect delicate materials. Give it a go and let me know how it goes! 👍
@@Brownsylvania what viscosity do you use?
Lovely fly did you ever used and also tie the same fly in gold beads or just silver beads.
What size tungsten beads do you use for size 14, 16 and 18’s? Thanks
When I add uv resin to the thread it make it almost black looking.. I have Solarez bone dry and the thin, they both do it.. Did you ever have this issue?
It definitely darkens the fly some. I can tell mine are olive still, but they do get darker.
Can you please do a video on the pheasant tail perdigon you use? I tried to look through your videos but no luck maybe shoot me the link if you can please.
So the pheasant tail I use is not a perdigon. It's just a simple jig fly though and is my top fly by far. Here is the video: ua-cam.com/video/xMk_62iX6gw/v-deo.html
Thanks Professor Chuck for your teachings on fly 🪰tying. Someone else said your tying videos are the best on UA-cam and I agree 👍.
haha Thank you! I appreciate the generous compliments. I'll be starting new tying videos back up over the summer.
Love your vids Chuck. Trying to follow your tutorial. I can't find the Orientsun 5241hooks anywhere. Any suggestions or substitute? Also, you use 2.3 beads for #18, do you use 2.8 for 16's? Thanks!
Yup! 2.8 for 16s. The orientsun 5241s are exclusive to tacticalflyfisher.com
Look for the 5240s and they are listed as options under those.
Thanks for watching! 👍
@@Brownsylvania they don't have 5241 only 5240. Is it ok to use 5240 instead? Thanks again!
Yeah they do. They are listed under the 5240s. When you go to pick your size the 5241 heavy wires are in there. Here is the link: www.tacticalflyfisher.com/orientsun-5240-barbless-wide-gap-jig-nymph-hook-and-5241-heavy-wire/
@@Brownsylvania My bad chuck. Sorry about that. I should have clicked on it and gives you a list. First time buying tying materials.
haha No worries man! It's a little tough to find. I just like the heavy wire hooks so they don't bend out on bigger fish. The regular 5240s would work too.
What hook is that ?!!
It's an Orientsun 5241.
