[TAS] GB Final Fantasy Adventure by Atomnium in

Final Fantasy Adventure is the first game in the Seiken Densetsu (聖剣伝説) series, a series best known for the Super Nintendo game Secret of Mana ( tasvideos.org/1918M ). It plays similarly to The Legend of Zelda, with some Final Fantasy elements added.
This run by Atomnium ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/A... ) forgoes warps so as to show off more of the game. It also improves upon the previous run by 00:13.47 seconds thanks to improved manipulation and strategies.

I remember playing the shit out of this game when i was a kid. I even took it on myself to draw maps for every dungeon in the game. Fun times!

1:23:44 lol I remember being a kid playing this and accidentally thinking I had to go back into the castle. I wandered around confused for days with that sad ass music playing until my brother pointed out what I was supposed to do. Fun memories!

@@SonofTiamat Yes. FFA is Seiken Densetsu and SoM is Seiken Densetsu 2. (Trials of Mana is the 3rd, even better than SoM imho)

I always get this one confused with Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, and believe me, they are very different games.

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest was actually this game's name in PAL regions.
I live in a PAL region though, and own the cartridge as the Final Fantasy Adventure. Its a USA copy that somehow showed up in a local second hand store? I don't know how that happened. But it was fine, because the GB is region-free.

​@@pseudonym3690 Tbh, not so much. About 100h, maybe less. I don't remember exactly. I did it instead of playing videogames before sleeping. Then, I didn't dedicate this run more time than I would on other games.
A large part of the game is walking, then very simple. If there are some mobs on the path, you have to manipulate the room and this is easy (and quick) to do.
Look before I enter a new room / screen, I turn on side, walk then enter.
Two reasons :
First, it can save some frames. If I remember well, a full move is 8px long (1 per frame). But when you change screen, you can move for less px, then enter the room. The game will round it. If you move by 1-4 frames, the game will bring you back at 0px. Else, between 5-8, it will complete the move and "tp" you like if you completed the move. Then, you can save some frames.
Second : For this reason, you can manage to enter the same room, at the same spot but at different frames. Then the room will be different. This is how you manipulate it.
Thanks to emulators, with savestate and rewind, if the room config isn't good, it's quick to go back and try another frame to enter it.
Once the room is ok, you just have to travel accross it, then register about 5s of the run.
Then, the "travel" part of the run was the easiest part to run BUT the major part of the final movie.
No surprise, boss fights are the most difficult to perform because you have to optimize your damages (double hit with the star, for example), manipulate them to be at the best place and ofc without getting hit. And the game can be a bit random with this. Sometimes, when hitted, the boss can touch you without damages, sometimes not ^^' Very strange.
Bonus, there are 2 or 3 spots where you need to lvl up at spécific places : in the bone cave between the two times I walk into lava (easy one because you have some time), and when killing the Mantis (hard one ^^). In the author notes, I did a mention to this because I forgot to setup my lvlup in the bone cave. Then I had to do the dongeon twice and lost some time because of this ^^
