I do like some of the mods you have gone with, very well thought out.
By far the cleanest AR Pro build I've seen, with the custom mounts and covers you've designed... nicely done.
Thanks burt, I love this plane and am currently building a new one with balsa elevons and other improvements based upon all I have learned from the first one.
Loved your approach on both! Congrats! :)
Thanks so much! 😊
Your build is inspirational. It looks like a commercial product now. Thanks for sharing.
This thing is soooo well build, I'm so jealous :)
Nice job. You’ve made some great mods there. Good luck with the maiden.
Great overview. I'm impressed how much patience you have to build that so nice and clean xD
I need to get the stuff done in a day to go fly :D
Thats what 10 months stuck in lockdown does to you 😀
Very clean build!!!
Nice build thank you for the sharing the STL files to fit perfect .
Your very welcome James
that ar pro is the perfect setup awesome job
Thanks I hope I don't crash and burn on the maiden after all that work :-)
when you think you made a clean build, someone makes an even cleaner build.
I love your AR pro!
Printing some of your mods for mine, while it waits its maiden.
Thank you!
Your very welcome and glad you like it. I am uploading a couple of new mods tomorrow, a CG balance pod to add ballast weight to the nose if required and some elevon wing tips as they are quite flimsy.
The 3D Prints are cool!
Awsome build, great inspiration. Sound is a bit low though. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing your files!
Nice Job
Amazing job I love the mods you have done any STL files you sure cleaned it up I feel the same way about cables Take Care
Thanks, I will upload all the STL's and put a link on here for any that want to download them.
@@bluefish3607 I would really appreciate that!!
@@bluefish3607 thank you
Nice. Like your biuld.
Need only replace elevones with balsa or reinforce them with fiber glass and epoxy resine.
Hi Alex yes I agree the elevons are very flimsby, I have put some reinforcement on the tips. I will not be using this wing for fast flying just cruising and long range so I probably wont replace them with balsa. I am building a 6S Mini Drak for fast flying and that has balsa elevons and I may even add some carbon fibre to them for extra strength.
Thanks for the prints they work great, i cant find the small one that cover the servo connections ?
Hi John you can get the STL here: drive.google.com/file/d/1rcWlde86jghaWVCZ33NfSjOZYrE-bEJJ/view?usp=sharing
On the AR Wing Pro, how did you route the wiring for the crossfire nano rx on the wing? There are only 3 pins to use in the connector.
Hi I share the ground wire from the servo, just splice it in and put some shrink tube around it.
Great video, thank you for the review and insights, just build my first long range AR Wing 900 with DJI FPV.
It's a bit on a heavy side with 6Ah 4S, so it will greatly help to stiffen it if you share STL for middle carbon spar?
Hi Here is the STL you will need a piece of square carbon tube to make the brace.

Had to come watch this. I have the AR Pro White Falcon and have it dialed in but now I’m trying to decide either buy an AR900 or another White Falcon 😅
They are both great wings but I like the AR Pro the most personally.
Hi well done. I did the same but I have a mess of cables in it. How did you pass the cable in the side space? Did u made additional holes? Thanks for your review and stl. Also how do you fix the fc on the plane? Do you use additional support?
Hi Alessandro, I used the existing holes to feed the GPS and DJI Air Unit cables to the FC. For the FC I fixed it with double sided sticky tape.
Hi Bluefish, I saw in your video that you also use the T-Motor Esc. What settings / protocol do you have set in Inav for the Esc?
Standard protocol
this is an awesome video. Your STLs are awesome as well ! thanks man. How did you install the AirUnit & Camera? did you had to disassemble the cable to install it in place ???? cause there is no way unless cutting in the foam to have the wire going through the tunnels...
I disconnected the cable from the air unit, carefully covered the connector with a piece of shrink tube and tape so it did not get snagged in the tunnel. I then fed a piece of thin wire from the side pod to the cam mount and attached this to the air unit cable with another small piece of tape then gently pulled the air unit wire through the tunnel and connected it back to the air unit.
You have to be very careful the cable is very delicate and it is fiddly to fit it back in the air unit as it is not very long.
Hey, nice video. I am considering one of these two planes, but am not sure which. I primarily want to fly LOS, and want to go fast. I don't plan to mess with FPV or an FC. Which do you think is more fun for just messing around? Also, which is easier to launch, which is tougher, better quality, etc etc..? I have mostly 4S lipos in all sizes, but also several 5S (1800s and 2200s) Ideally I would be able to switch between 4s and 5s. I have lots of ESCs, but what I'm not sure about is the motor. I like what you say about 5S on the 900 wing. Just how fast is it on 5S with that motor? Would that set up be any faster on the Pro, due to better aerodynamics or whatever? And what prop exactly? Thanks....
They are both very good wings, both easy to launch but maybe the AR900 is a little more agile if you want to do some acrobatics. The AR900 on 5S with a SunnySky 2212 1400kv or 2216 1300kv is a sweet setup, and you could still have lots of fun on 4S with those motors and maybe run a 9x5 prop. For me the AR Pro on 4S with 9x5 Prop is really nice and although not super fast still great to fly and can also be used as a long range platform if you wish. Both about the same quality and similar toughness. Hope that helps.
is the cable from the DJI camera to the air unit long enough for that mounting solution, or did you need a longer cable?
I've got my AR Pro mid build right now, waiting for DJI Goggles and an Air Unit to arrive before I finish it. I want to have a GoPro on the nose too, and didn't want to be forced to have components mounted to a hatch either.
Watching this has given me some ideas, thanks. 👍
Hi Charlie, yes the standard cable is long enough, but you have to remove the cable from the air unit to thread it through from the cam mount to the side hatch. This is something you have to be very careful with as the strands in the cable are very delicate. I wrapped a small piece of electrical tape around the connector and cable so it didn’t snag in the tunnel between the cam and side hatch pod.
Hi, Glenn. I hope you are doing well. Just a question. After trimming what are the deflections of the control surfaces. I am facing some problems to trim her. Thanks
Hi Silvio sorry for the delay in replying, I have injured my back while training and been out of action for a few days.

@@bluefish3607 oh man. Fast recovery! Thanks for the Info. I have had issues with the Arwing CG. Something I am doing is not Ok.
@@SILVIOFRANCO1 What problems are you having Silvio? Do you have any video?
@@bluefish3607 Glenn, I couldn't record any video. Sorry. Almost all takeoffs were bad. The few flights I did were with both ailerons trimmed up almost 10 mm. Could you please tell me the width of the batt bay is please because i have plenty of 4500mah 4cell nanotech
AR Pro 150mm at the very front tapering to 140mm 50mm back from the front of the battery bay
How did you attach the Matek FC, so that it fits under the cover?
Just used double sided tape
how did you get the wires from your crossfire into the main body ? not sure of the best place to put a hole
Just wire the Crossfire to the servo plug John and share the ground wire of the servo with the Crossfire RX. Simple and clean and you can still remove the wings easily.
@@bluefish3607 what a good guy , thanks buddy
Currently about half way through my AR Wing Pro build and I'm struggling to work out how to mount the air unit in the same spot as you. What do the two visible bolts seen at ua-cam.com/video/U8NLCYz1H8Q/v-deo.html screw into? Did you print a base plate, or is there carbon sheet above and below the air unit?
There is a carbon plate the same as the top plate with standoffs cut to the height of the air unit bonded to the bottom of the hatch. The top plate then sandwiches the air unit between the two plates and holds it in place.
I removed the cam cable from the air unit and passed it through the hole from the cam mount to the hatch. Warning - you have to be super careful with this as the cable strands are super delicate.
I wrapped the plug to the cable with a small piece of electrical tape to protect the plug and wires and to avoid it getting snagged in the channel.
Fitting the cam plug back into the air unit is super fiddly as the wire only just reaches and you have to hold the air unit at an angle inside the hatch to make it reach.
I hope that helps.
@@bluefish3607 Thanks for your help. Super useful.
Nice video and a lot of good information. One question: you said that you don't use the DJI system for long range. Why? I am about to build my first wing and I definitely want the DJI system, however I want to be able to fly at least 3km distance to have more flexibility and be able to capture nice footages. Thanks.
Hi Paulo I fly out to about a maximum of 7km with DJI before it starts to lose signal on a good day at a maximum altitude of 120m. But when I say long range I mean 20 to 30Km out and DJI will not cope with that at the moment.
Awesome work. I love your dedication.
Please keep us posted on the maiden flight. Are your stl files in thingiverse? I searched but couldn't find them. Keep on rocking man.
Thanks, not had time to upload STL’s yet will try and get them up tomorrow evening. Maiden went very well video will be up soon.
I'd like to adapt your session mount for a runcam 5. Could you share the original design file so I don't have to start from scratch?
All my currently uploaded designs are here: www.thingiverse.com/bluefishuk/designs
Awesome design! I was wondering how you got the 4 crossfire nano cables through the 3 pin connector in the wing?
I just use the ground from the servo for the Crossfire ground, I have done that on a few of my planes, works fine.
Just splice the Crossfire and servo ground together.
@@bluefish3607 I have been wondering how this would work and now have my answer. Great stuff. Thanks.

Great video, very clean build 👍🏻 Could you do a video with a bit more detail on the thumb screws for the hatches.
Hi Neil, glad you liked the video. I am not sure that would make a very interesting video and it would be very short :-)
However I will do my best to help. The method I used for the side hatches was to take two 10mm plastic standoffs and glue them into a hole I made below the hatch flaps.
I then simply made some 0.5mm plates on my 3D printer and glued them to the top of the hatch flaps and drilled a hole through that in line with the standoffs in the fuselage below. Then just used some 6mm plastic M3 thumbscrews from Ebay to hold them in place.
The main hatch cover is the same method but I designed a plate and swivel lock which you can find here www.thingiverse.com/thing:4742243
The rectangle plate is bonded onto the fuse behind the hatch and the semi circular plate onto the hatch cover itself to prevent the foam getting worn when opening and closing the lock.
I hope that helps.

Super fine build. I went to Thingiverse and cant find DJI Air unit mod parts. Can you point me to it or make some instruction file? That would help a loooot. :)
Hi there, the air unit mount was not 3D printed. I was made from an old carbon fibre quad frame.
I just used a couple of stand offs to clamp the air unit between two pieces of carbon with the lower piece bonded to the inside of the compartment on the wing.
I di not want to 3D print as the air units can get hot and it might soften the mount, with carbon there is no chance of that happening.
Hope that helps

well my planes are mostly held together by duct tape, I got tired of designing & 3D printing for weeks. so kudos to you
I hate doing it but its down to my chronic OCD 😀
Nice model.......I see this more and more with new people to the hobby, its a big no no to force the
servo from its output arm, the torque is not designed to work that way and you will damage the gears or stress them out....
just saying from 40 years flying......cheers
TBH with modern digital metal gear servos it is very unlikely that they can be damaged by gentle unpowered movement. You are more likely in fact to damage servos when the are moved under power i.e. in a crash.
Of course I would no advise moving them aggressively or indeed on a regular basis.

Be careful.
Sorry, but using 7 x 6 prop on that huge AR pro wing is just silly IMO...All it will do is burn amps and make a lot of noise...Haven't you learnt anything yet with the earlier version?
4S with the correct motor / prop is the answer, plus batteries are cheaper with less chance of cell failure...Just facts TBH...
Hi you may be right and maybe I should reserve the 6S power train for my Mini Drak that I am currently building.
But that said I love experimenting and I did not have that much success running the AR900 on 6S and I just wanted to test the claim from Sonicmodell that the AR Pro was designed for speeds up to 220 kmh.
I have plenty of motors and lipos and am fortunate enough for cost to not be an issue so if it does not work out can play around with other power trains and batteries.
When I launch and it smokes and crashes, I will wait for your message "I told you so" :-)
With respect If I did everything that people told me in their opinion in my life, I would have missed out on so many experiences and opportunities as well as many significant learning curves.
@@bluefish3607 Okay, I respect your desire to experiment, but I know it will just scream around the sky sounding fast, but it wont be that fast. This wing has the wrong wing section, its not meant to be fast. The Drac is different, but that can be a bugger to hand launch if you load it up. This bird is a range machine, it needs a heavy battery just to get CG and it assumes you will always have a GoPro in it for HD capture...Nice printed mods though, very nice..😀
