There are certainly some very successful UA-cam channels where people have unwittingly bought a boat in as bad a shape as that one and then embarked on a multi year process of restoring it. Sailing Yaba is one of them. The only thing that wasn't completely rotten on that boat was the masthead light.
And those are the videos that can tempt people into a costly nightmare project that costs them thousands. Everything can be saved if you have money to burn.
If people want too buy a wooden yacht, then they should first take a look at the channel `Tally Ho’. Leo is in his 3rd or 4th year of 😮rebuilding this famous racing yacht from the keel up. He has a team of skilled boat builders (who aren’t cheap) helping, and the only way he can support the cost is with a UA-cam channel and patrons. But he’s only got about 3-5 years of work left so not long now 😂👍 Yeah I’ve worked on wooden trawlers most my life and have actually been caulking the covering boards as we been steaming down the river 🤣😂👍✌️
@@BoatbreakersVideo yeah even wooden boats if not used will open up above the water line. They need salt water to wash over them in sloppy weather too keep everything tight and therefore dry inside the hull. As a matter of interest, do u ever get tasked with scrapping old trawlers ? ✌️
He started in 2013 ... but as with all boat jobs, it takes at least 3 times longer than you thought it would :D You'd actually be better off starting from scratch, Salt & Tar built theirs in 7 years, and Acorn to Arabella will be launching this year - both built from scratch.
Ooo, lovely bit o firewood that :D

Fair play to them, for most people the costs to store and repair the boat will soon catch up with them.

A tarp and two tubes of sikoflex will get this far enough out to be come an artificial reef :)
