A great job! Only two things: Always cut off the selvages before sewing and finish the raw edges because if you don't, your garment will pucker from uneven shrinking in repeated washings. Also, wash and iron natural fabrics like cotton to preshrink before construction to ensure that all of your measurements for your finished garment are accurate.

Washing and ironing waxed fabric will remove the wax! The wax protects the beautiful feature of this fabric.

Your explanation is the simplest and the most perfect I have watched. Please make a video on deep v front cut. I have searched for videos and none has explained it perfectly. I like your instructions and plan to use them to make a Halloween caftan. The only thing I didn't like was leaving the selvages showing with all that writing on it. It looks unfinished. But to each his/her own. I've already cut off the selvage on my material. Thank you for your video. You explain things better than most of the other tutorials out ther.

Good day. A new subbie here. In Malaysia, kaftan also known as baju kelawar (baju=cloth, kelawar=bat). It's common that ladies wear baju kelawar in batik pattern as their sleepwear, trust me it's really comfortable considering our hot weather. I still respect the culture, but I thought there's no harm if I use another pattern for my baju kelawar, so I decide to sew my own version because there's no one sells ready-made non-batik baju kelawar (as a sleepwear). I'm glad that I found your video. Thank you for this very comprehensive tutorial. I'll let you know if I manage to sew my first baju kelawar. 😊
