I'd like more developed night battles in the RQ. With the option to opt out. with lights on tanks, with outline or not depending on being spotted maybe. The current system doesn't capture night battles I think.
"Night battles" -its almost as bright as normal maps, and the vision is reduced-awesome. THey should really think about adding lights to tanks. With them ON you see more but you are easier to spot, and other way around with them OFF.
I think they need a night map specific mechanic, like tank lights or a spotlight where using a spot light allows you to spot the enemy farther but at a cost of reducing your camo. Or possibly a set of optics used for heat signatures or some kind of night vision tuning. What they have now doesn't work great. This could be done with another tank build that is setup only for night maps.
One thing i like about night battles is the fact that everyone is the same tier. Only play this mode for the bonds so not really bothered about the mechanics of spotting and camo. Most games are over within 7 to 8 mins anyway.
I wish world of tanks would add modes that would have natural disasters. Like hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, fires, and sandstorms by changing the landscape and making the map more interesting. That would be cool
I think it would be kind of cool if they had some sort of infrared vision system (like the Germans had on the Panther) that you can toggle on and off, kinda like the turbo charger for the Polish meds. If it’s on you have better view range/render distance but less accuracy/gun stats or something
They could use night vision in sniper view. Also what about a sunset or sunrise mode or use weather in the game like rain or snow maybe extreme weather like tornadoes or earthquakes lightning.
I get if its a full moon night you could see across the map like in these games, but otherwise I want actual night time visibility where you cant see actual structures and details very far around you.
I think it can be better, they can modify the cvs to be more competitive since cvs is about infrared so it would make sense to have it more useful at night. They also need to chill on that 35% view range, I think 20 or 25 makes more sense. on the other hand, for tier10 I always play 121B with binoculars and vents, you can get to around 400 view range and I basically just shoot everyone and never get spotted because usually they'll have about 350 or less. They still can further improve it, but it's kinda tricky.
I'm a bog-average player. I didn't bother with any special equipment load-outs. I didn't play any particularly stealthy vehicles. I enjoyed the visual appearance of the maps, and I overall enjoyed playing the mode. As an optional, non-competitive mode I thought it was fine.
IT'd work if ya had a TTS on that tank, thats a nitrogen cooled thermal tank sight, TTS, then its essentially a day map with the ability to see your enemy, even when you can't because their exhaust actually gives away their position
Why not change the maximum spotting distance for each class like 450m for lights and 250m for heavies because the lights are so useless that sometimes, there are not any lights in the match making.
whats really funny is that they can't even give the vehicles a toggleable spotlight to vastly decrease the user's camo rating in exchange for guaranteed spotting nonbushed vehicles in a cone because not every vehicle would get it and it would require them to account for the spotlights in 3D styles.
I enjoy the night maps only at night. The lighting effects from gun flashes, and ammo racks look really good on my monitor, and the ambient sounds are all different as well, however, I wish this mode would make you more credits.
WG needs to make a NVG module that is required to play the game mode, This will make you pick and choose what modules are most important and get away from the cookie cutter builds. The NVGs will also get away from what looks like an old Black and White TV series night scene.
the problem is not the night mode, its the ECL and borasque that are overpowered as hell, all you highlighted is how broken those tanks are. The mode is fine, it is just different than standard battles. They can fidle with the numbers as much as they want, those 2 tanks will be overpowered no matter what on this mode.
Maybe the feedback from last year they narrowed down to the reduced radio range reducing the enjoyment, so they are just retrying this year where the biggest change is that radio range isn’t reduced anymore but leaving the rest the same.
QB, I think the problem is mostly that you expect this mode to not change the gameplay too much but at the same time change it enough to feel different. About the visual effects, indeed I think they are uncomfortable, but in the meantime no game ever managed to create a night mode that is both realistic and comfortable, because that's what night is, near absence of vision. Perhaps they should have pushed it farther and really reduced our depth of view but instead put headlights to see more clearly at closer range (but that would require a lot more work on their part), perhaps also the ability to toggle thermal vision. Take a step back and review the implications of this new rule set: - Reduced view range => All tanks are more difficult to spot - Massive camo penalty when firing => Tanks should be even more careful when firing - Shorter spot duration => Spotting is less likely to allow to damage the tanks, especially if it was because the tank fired. This makes passive scouting more important than active scouting What conclusion can we draw from that? Gameplay and tactics need to be a lot more different than what we are used to. This ruleset favors tactical movements on the map because most tanks can move on the map with less risk of getting spotted as long as they don't fire. It encourages small and targeted strikes instead of big pushes because you need to get a lot closer to spot a tank and because you are spotted for shorter, you can more easily move somewhere else. And because enemies have only a few seconds to fire when you are spotted, it makes it harder for them to react fast enough (which is why you shouldn't peek from the same position). It gives the attacker the initiative/surprise. Also, it makes scouting more thoughtful. Active scouting will mostly help to locate enemies but not to damage them. A well positioned passive scout is more likely to allow damage assist. This gamemode requires more (re)thinking, which isn't something WoT players are know for... I'm not saying it's great, but people complain mostly because of their inability to understand it and adapt. The main complain I would have is that this ruleset, just like most other fun/special modes, makes only a reduced set of tanks actually relevant. In this mode I find that medium tanks and fast heavies are the most effective (tanks looking like MBTs), because they can move on the map, spot for themselves and strike effectively. Big/slow tanks are even more useless than usual. TDs will struggle to fire before the target disappears again. Scouts will struggle to do any damage or get any assist damage, they will mostly give the information of where tanks are but rarely be rewarded for it. This might work better with smaller teams of 7 to 10, where players tend to move more on the map and use more teamplay. 15 is too much to encourage a more tactical playstyle.
It would have been cool if everyone was rendered all the time but no tags or hit points would show up until they were spotted same for both your team and enemy team.
Sorry QB, but nit everyone is sitting there day in, day out playing WOT. The normal player who has to go to work for a living may get 2 hours a day (if they are lucky). Please remember that what you may find boring as you have seen it 20 times a day will be new for the rest of us. That being said, keep up the content 95%.9f it is mighty fine.
Haven’t played world of tanks in a long long time but have been playing a lot of war thunder. And what’s nice that I feel would be good for wot players that war thunder has is the option to enable and disable night battles.
problem are not night maps but all maps in general . game become too fast and maps to small. plus unbalance tanks and permanent premium ammo use is make any strategy absolute .
it will be great if we can test the night experience with the normal day battle at the same round.. i.e.(late night at the start then morning at minute 9 for example or the opposite, day then night)
Why change I dont understand. Just make the moon a little bit brighter so its easier to see. No need to change view ranges and all that bs. Just have different time zone on every map. Like 3 time zones. Fiddling with view ranges and this 6 second spoting bs is just annoying. Everyone is used to wot being wot. To bring something a little bit ''new'' = 1 map could have Day time, morning and night look. Another map could have a morning, day time and evening look and so on. Just to make it look fresh. If i have to change all my equipment because of the night maps... Because all my tanks are blind... NO thx. Just make it look nice. that's it.
I think with it being introduced into the game it brought a different side of the maps, it also sucks that since the game mode only has like 4 maps or something it sucks when you get put into sandriver like 7 times out of 10, the fact that WG don't nerf premium tanks defintly sways the battle.
Best thing they could do with night battles is just make it purely cosmetic. As for the drab look? Well, we actually are not playing in places like Las Vegas which have a vibrant night life.
This mode should have been a simple visual change from the beginning rather than a weird mode. The view range reduction in my opinion would be a horrible change without a massive map rebalance. With the exception of a few city maps, most battles depend on the light tanks.f If they do fine you can play, if not and they die early most of the time it's an automatic loss. I don't think that battles should be even more dependent on light tanks which are the hardest tanks to play well and most people struggle with.
In my opinion in night battles the spotting should have been taken out and all tanks be visible but not on the minimap until you look at them for a period of time and the night should be more darker to make it fair
You’re not having fun because you’re chasing mechanics. You play it like a normal game, with normal tanks without abusing the system and you start to enjoy it.
@@scoutboy776because there is no other game which combines fps, rts, strategy, tactics. Even though it is an arcade game it is so much deeper than any fps on the market.
That there are no changes with the Night Battles kinda hints at WGs development department being nearly dead. I mean, just look at maps in general, when was the last time we got a new map? Feels like 90% of resources at WG nowadays go into monetization aspects like lootboxes/premium tanks.
In this gamemode I actually didnt bother at all with lights and meds. Just played my Bisonte and won about 60% of all my battles. The heavy tank gameplay rly didnt change much compared to the random queue
I still like the idea of different battle conditions ingame like reduced view range but it's far from being refined in any case at this point. Also we are complaining about the heavy tank meta while still justifying heavy tanks with 400m view range, this makes no sense to me. Sure tank destroyers, but if heavy tanks are the superior option buffing tds by reducing ht view range sounds kinda viable. Maybe for night battles some sort of noice detection would be nice, you can really hear everything in the dark, so you don't get spotted by Vision rather then sound. I'm sure if you want to make night battles work there must be a way to do it. And clearly not just adjusting some sliders of already existing statistics. Also headlights or any light source on a tank plays a big role. So while driving you either can't see anything in the dark or you're shining bright like a Christmas tree. So maybe some night battle mechanic which either makes your driving worse or makes your camo worse depending if you switch it on or off sounds great to me. Also imagine a special artillery shell that lights up an area for x seconds and reduces camo of the vehicles inside the area and potentially blinding the enemy as well. There is potential for interesting gameplay with night battles.
heh.. what's the point of night maps if the lights on the tanks are not functioning? Even if it's just for visual enjoyment. I remember 2 years ago they made those cinematic videos for new tanks (and skins). If they went for a night scene those had fancy lights sitting around camp fires..
QB --- Usually you and I share similar opinions. I couldn't disagree with you more here. I think this is a refreshing change and good way to breathe life into tired old maps. Mind you, I wouldn't enjoy this mode everyday all the time, but for a short period ---- I really like it!
I am so glad I left the game a year ago. Funny seeing things go downhill still. Wishing QB the best after WoT dies. Hopefully he finds a fruitful carreer in other games.
This mode highlights everything I think is wrong with WoT today. Crew Skills and Equipment are king and only serve to make broken tanks even more broken. They aren't good for the game as a whole. But for this mode, the fix is to limit draw/render distance further. If View Range is cut by 30% draw distance of spotted tanks should be cut by at least 30%, but probably 40%. This discourages camping. I actually don't mind the inherent boost to camo for tanks, but I think that firing through soft cover should offer much less benefit. A muzzle flash is going to be bright, but this is an arcade game, make it super bright. This game mode needs to be about getting in closer for combat and it would encourage more movement since it's safter to cross open terrain without cover and take more aggressive positions as long as you don't fire. What we got was a camo intensive camping game where a good scout for a firing line has a massive advantage because camping is more incentivized in this mode. Teams that bunch up and move together can be spotted by one enemy, shot by multiple, and realistically only spot the one enemy.
-35% view range is ABSURD, and far too drastic of a change to combat view saturation. If maxed-out passive spotting LTs can't even reach the max view range, why bother having a max view range at all?
I don't understand why WG thinks they need to run non-stop 'special events' anyway. The barrage of events is numbing. Always something to grind or FOMO.. Personally, I'm done with them, except Frontlines.
Been a wot lover since last 11 years but i finally switched to war thunder with my friend group as wot is just a memory to me now of once a great and iconic game that went downhill due to greed and unnecessary politics.
WOT+ account - I've sold ALL my standard equipment that has a Bounty equivalent - made over 30M credits. I can now move all my Bounty stuff around for free so any battle I enter I will always have Bounty equipment ( I have a few Bond ones as well dotted around ). It's not really fair - but it wasn't supposed to be. I've got 3 complete sets of Bounty equipment of all types now ( Battle Pass...... ) . It really is Pay-To-Win........
I thought they were fun (for a change of pace / few games here or there). But, this is my first year in the game and never saw night maps previously and I am very much a casual player. Could it be better, sure. I wish I had some tier 8 light tanks grinded, I was stuck in the few heavies I had available.
I'm not sure if WG doing nothing is a bad thing. Everything they HAVE done something for has become actively worse. Also, what they probably should have done. Leave View Range alone, but buff camo for all tanks. But keep the setting where firing (muzzle flash) destroys the camo entirely.
I want rainy battles the tank moves slower when in dirt or sand and the road will be a bit slippery risking fast tanks to flip over or get out of control
I agree that there is too much view range in this game. However if they nerf it for 10% will make all the premium tanks (which they dont nerf) even more over powered.
I think they could fix the visual aspect by simply adding some interacting lighting to create diversity in the maps - this is what’s missing. Everything looks the same. Blown up tank here, dud missile there. ANYRHING is better than straight up nothing.

but Id like to play night battles in randoms, just give ppl the option to turn it off and on like grand battles for ppl who dont like it
true
It could be fun to have a head light mode , headlights on improves mobility but makes you way easier to spot
That would be cool
this was the laziest update ive ever seen
Seems like WG is slowing the development of the game 😢
@@Giovani992maybe it’s true. Maybe They are going to shut it down. If so imma try to buy the game from them for 1k and then make it better than ever
@@thehottaco9141 1k? hahaha
@@thehottaco9141this game is not going anywhere for a long time. It is literally there biggest cash cow and it's not even close.
@@hebrewhammer4086 it's not 2017 anymore. The glory days are over. It's not making enough money. That's why they are cutting costs.
I think it would be kind of cool if they had some sort of infrared vision system (like the Germans had on the Panther) that you can toggle on and off, kinda like the turbo charger for the Polish meds. If it’s on you have better view range/render distance but less accuracy/gun stats or something
this would be kind of fun if we could get an infrared vision when aiming. other wise it is just like playing with the wrong contrast setting.
They could use night vision in sniper view. Also what about a sunset or sunrise mode or use weather in the game like rain or snow maybe extreme weather like tornadoes or earthquakes lightning.
Radios work like in randoms, which was a nice change, but not enough to justify playing the mode
WG should just use "night maps" on the maps they have taken out of the map rotation. Kharkov, Berlin or Stalingrad are some examples on the NA server.
I'm so old I remember a time where WoT used to be fun!
They were probably busy thinking to make about new tanks or things to sell
Maybe the feedback from last year they narrowed down to the reduced radio range reducing the enjoyment, so they are just retrying this year where the biggest change is that radio range isn’t reduced anymore but leaving the rest the same.
i didn't even play. why can't they add BP points to the mode?
WG has done nothing to improve the game? No crap 🤨
Honestly I love the night maps, the games are longer and the atmospheric sounds are amazing.
transition during a game between day and night and vice versa would be better
WG could have done it like War Thunder, where there will be flare from time to time, light up the whole map, or maybe part of it
QB, I think the problem is mostly that you expect this mode to not change the gameplay too much but at the same time change it enough to feel different.
Take a step back and review the implications of this new rule set:
- Reduced view range => All tanks are more difficult to spot
- Massive camo penalty when firing => Tanks should be even more careful when firing
- Shorter spot duration => Spotting is less likely to allow to damage the tanks, especially if it was because the tank fired. This makes passive scouting more important than active scouting
What conclusion can we draw from that?
Make it darker and add night optics. Allow for illumination rounds for artillery
Like in warthunder, gaijin refuses to change anything about night battles😢. Still bright as day due to two huge flares above Battlefield...
Haven’t played world of tanks in a long long time but have been playing a lot of war thunder. And what’s nice that I feel would be good for wot players that war thunder has is the option to enable and disable night battles.
Those Maps would be fun, if they were only random Encounter in the Random Que !
They could just add Night Vision devices, and Infared, you get the atmosphere but can still see.
Wargaming is too busy adding premium tanks into the game. They don't have time to adjust game mode settings
problem are not night maps but all maps in general . game become too fast and maps to small. plus unbalance tanks and permanent premium ammo use is make any strategy absolute .
I felt the night maps looked really cool, although I didn't play the mode enough to "properly figure it out"..
i use them to grind credits outside the terrible random q u witness these days on T8
it will be great if we can test the night experience with the normal day battle at the same round.. i.e.(late night at the start then morning at minute 9 for example or the opposite, day then night)
i really like the look and would love to have night maps on random queue
Surprised they did not make any of the numerous lights on the tanks functional.
NO thx. Just make it look nice. that's it.
Exactly. The modifiers are too strong.
Not gonna lie, my favorite mode in 12 years, love it. Esp in my Skorp due to the reduced vision, fantastic
I like the change up, and could enter the rotation.
You play it like a normal game, with normal tanks without abusing the system and you start to enjoy it.
the core game isnt enjoyable anymore. why would any new person play tanks rather than an fps (destiny/cod/csgo) or a battle royal (pubg/apex/fortnite)
@@scoutboy776dude its literally the point, because you like tanks
@@scoutboy776because there is no other game which combines fps, rts, strategy, tactics.
Even though it is an arcade game it is so much deeper than any fps on the market.
That there are no changes with the Night Battles kinda hints at WGs development department being nearly dead. I mean, just look at maps in general, when was the last time we got a new map?
Feels like 90% of resources at WG nowadays go into monetization aspects like lootboxes/premium tanks.
would of been cool if they added weather effects like foggy etc
In this gamemode I actually didnt bother at all with lights and meds. Just played my Bisonte and won about 60% of all my battles. The heavy tank gameplay rly didnt change much compared to the random queue
I destroyed 5 tanks in a night battle with my stock Udes 3 as tanks couldn't see me. No way could I have done that in a normal random battle.
I SUPPORT night battles QB because:
Light tanks HAVE A CHANCE to win battles then!!!
Too much Heavies. This HELPS even it all out
I still like the idea of different battle conditions ingame like reduced view range but it's far from being refined in any case at this point.
There is potential for interesting gameplay with night battles.
i dont see why we can't just have night battles as an aesthetic change instead of a gameplay change.
“WG” and “game improvement” in the same sentence is like saying all politicians are honest.
If you want to see how much WG cares for changing, fixing and updating its game you can have a look at the next patch
I played night battles with the 703 and I had actually had a good time
heh.. what's the point of night maps if the lights on the tanks are not functioning? Even if it's just for visual enjoyment.
I remember 2 years ago they made those cinematic videos for new tanks (and skins). If they went for a night scene those had fancy lights sitting around camp fires..
Either ban tanks with high camo value from night battles or dump the idea entirely
QB ---
Usually you and I share similar opinions. I couldn't disagree with you more here. I think this is a refreshing change and good way to breathe life into tired old maps. Mind you, I wouldn't enjoy this mode everyday all the time, but for a short period ---- I really like it!

😂😂😂😂😂😂
I am so glad I left the game a year ago. Funny seeing things go downhill still.
Wishing QB the best after WoT dies. Hopefully he finds a fruitful carreer in other games.
They need to add the full moon. If I could see that the rest wouldn't look so horrible. May not look horrible at all.
Notice did not show games on the corridor maps only sandriver where elc and bourrasque are op.
View range shouldnt have been reduced that much, 35% feels too much. I like the aesthetic though, the rain, auroras and mist are alright
