In this week's episode of the League Express Podcast, Editor Martyn Sadler and Host Jake Kearnan are joined by the Salford Red Devils CEO Paul King to discuss his rise to become the Chief Executive, his early days as a business consultant and how that lead to his professional involvement with the club. They discuss the financial struggles of not having a wealthy benefactor, the impact IMG has had on the club and how they can achieve a grade A rating. They discuss the recent form of Nene Macdonald and whether he will remain at Salford next season.
action packed show as always
Really love this podcast. Look forward to it every Tuesday
I said it all year, Salford were definitely one of the more entertaining teams, not only that they were involved in loads of one score games.
Brilliant episode, love the dower, manc sense of humour 😅 Some really good points raised about the state of the game from a financial standpoint, completely unsustainable & quite worrying that we still don't have a structure in place that isn't reliant on mega rich benefactors bailing clubs out...interesting times we live in.
Probably need to franchise it, don't they? League owns the clubs, clubs own the league. It's absolutely insane that the biggest club in the biggest market for the game in the northern hemisphere are only just scraping by.
Really enjoyed listening to Paul. Just wish he would be allowed to fully answer questions before over talking him!
That would be great calibrating with Sale Sharks. That’s my Union team. Grow both games if it helps both.
Well, it looks like it's time to say farewell SRD it's been great and thanks for everything and Goodbye Rugby League and thanks for nothing!
Martin is always so negative.
There's a lot to be negative about with regards to rugby league in England, isn't there?
