Botanical garden green houses arent buildngs that are typically ever connected to other buildings on a street, so why in the world are people dissapointed that its not modular?? That doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me, but I am glad you mentioned that you at least can understand why Lego made that choice. To me it was clearly the correct decision
This video is very special. Hats off to Solid Brix Studios for having the presence of mind to approach the local gardens in his hometown to showcase a great set as well as one of the many magnificent period buildings that inspired it.
Glad you can rep the RVA and give Lewis Ginter some props. You should build a matching Lego version for them to display during the Gardenfest of Lights coming up soon.
Kudos for filming on this beautiful location, it makes this review stand out. Also, I always like that you do side by side comparisons with other sets.
What a creative background to review the set! Really liked the comparison to the Friends set and the Mansion. Your review was the best one of all the reviews I have seen on this set. Well done!
I bought a set. The most expensive Lego set I have ever purchased. But I absolutely love the media. I bought four extra green base plates as well. And a handful of extra flowers for my Lego store bin. I am going to create a huge garden surrounding the building. And then now, after seeing the $80 friends said, I’m also going to buy that and add it in to my huge garden. It’s going to be so much fun working on. Because I’m going to have the ability to add new plans at any time. As Lego is always coming up with new trees and shrubs, I will continue to add them to my garden.
Just would like to add: Jabba's sail barge is $180 more with only 200 more pieces and less minifigures 😅 perspectives. That said, this set is incredible and price point is perfect.
Lovely review, and a lovely LEGO set. I just hope it will be cheaper soon. I think I want multiples of this. Or get 2 of the original Botanical garden and just have the combined one of that with this next to one another.
I was sharing a poem I wrote with 3 friends; it included the word "stoic" and none of my 3 friends knew what that word meant. I've noticed most people lack a diverse vocabulary. That being said, he could just pronounce it differently. I recently learned there are a shockingly large number of people who pronounce "jaguar" like "jag-wire," which is just despicable tbh.
I'll be honestly. I'm not really disappointed that they decided to not make the garden connect with modular sets. Every botanical garden I've ever been to has been away from other buildings, often on its own landscaped property. So having this and then surrounding it with some 16x32 (or other size) baseplates to blend it into a city I think would work really well.
Thanks for the review, the location is really special. I'm considering picking this one up, like you said before, its a very nice set, I would love to add this to my collection. Keep up the great work. Greetings from Vienna Austria.
It is really interesting, when I think of this set I think of my own botanical garden close to home and it's in London, Kew Gardens it is actually home to more than half of all the plant species in the world!
Hmm, I think I like the higher building from the original ideas version a bit more, with the massive tree on the side. The autumn leaf tree is a nice touch, as are the nice parts usages in the great variety of plants. I consider this an amazing build and clearly a much bigger and more detailed version of the Friends set. However, for the price, I don't think it is completely filling up the value that you'd expect. $330 dollars is just massively expensive and while I do love it aesthetically, especially compared to that awfully simple X-Mansion, it is something I prefer to pick up on a big discount or not at all. Also, I love that place where you filmed the review. That botanical garden looks a fair bit like it, a beautiful place to go and visit some day.
yeah, was a bit weird to be annoyed you cant meaninglessly 'connect' the set to other modulars. like, its not going to look or function any different lol
I was a little bit bummed when I saw the first images considering the fact that I just bought two of the Friends ones to combine into a larger set and -admitted- it looks pretty similar with the same windows, arches and color scheme. But then again, like you said, it is a wonderfull set and I had € 50 worth of VIP points to redeem. That togheter with the two nice GWP's made me order it first thing on November 1st. I'm so looking forward to building this and add it to my city. But I fear I'll have to do some shifting around befoure I can place it.
Next level review!! Well done! I absolutely love the location. Looks like an amazing conservatory. What an awesome comparison. I agree that the set is a bit overpriced. I thought the $329 to $429 Canadian seemed a bit of a high conversion, too. So not sure if I will get it or not. It does look like a great set.
I don't get the red lense for the camera, is it B&W plant photography? An interview with the designer mentioned the 4 elements were created new for this set, Both plant pieces the roof piece and arch, but because of timing and other things things, the plant piece made it into a few other sets prior to this one. Love the idea of doing it in person at a botanical garden to do the review, Great use of location, and great idea Launch day you get the Bookshel GWP and the Entryway GWP, think that it might be worth it that initial week, but agree on waiting for a sale/double points. I do think like the other Botanical, that Moc designers are going to try and expand it, add some of those plant elements, maybe add a second level to each of the wings or something, we will have to see, as I said in another review if you add 16 studs in the middle, could add sidewalks on each side, but have to figure things in there to how to place in a city.
It's a reallyyyyy niche thing, the A-Frame Cabin had a red stud on the Lens barrel indicating it was a "Pro" camera referencing Canon's own Professional "Red-ring" lenses. It's super nerdy, but I love this stuff. I didn't mention the GWP because it was only going to be available for a short time, and wanted to judge this set without it since it'll be on shelves for a much longer time.
@@SolidBrixStudios wow did not know on that!, and agreed on gwp long term, just interesting that it changes that launch price for both this and x mansion that have their own and the ideas gwp.
Hats off, David, this was an incredible review! The close-up shots and comparisons with other sets convinced me that I absolutely need this set. I'll see what my wallet thinks about it. :P
It's not a street building. I doesn't belong between buildings on a street. It belongs in a large open space, in a park or a botanical garden, surrounded by plants, trees and greenery. So I don't really get the ''argument'' that is not a modular building. Like Old Fishing Store belongs on a shore.
I have very little interest in the structure. However, the plants would be awesome for my small city. Wonder what chances are of getting a few "botanical" sets that are minifig scale and loaded with plants of all sorts and types and sizes.
You said it up front. It's a conservatory, not a botanical gardens. It needs 75% of the space to be outdoor spreads of various gardens to be called a botanical gardens in my mind. From all the ones I've been to in the US, this set feels like an overpriced entrance or greenhouse and an unfinished botanical gardens. So it should be at least $100 less. And you can get the friend's set on sale easily and combine to make a small indoor plants area or entrance to compliment the rest of the botanical gardens that is actually missing. I feel as nice as the new flower molds are they don't justify that price. It feels like false advertising to label the set a botanical gardens. They should call it a conservatory. The same with the Friend's one. It looks great as a Conservatory, but very overpriced for the size. And that price becomes a huge problem when you have to add all the outdoor space entirely from moc. The cost adds up fast.
If they can put dual molded legs for a random minifigure in a botanical set I'm sure Lego can also do this for literally NAMED CHARACTERS for Starwars minifigures. It's so disappointing. Even the rebel fleet troopers who are Iconic enough can't get them at a premium price.
Professional review and detailed to which I agree with your thoughts. LEGO should have waited until Q2 or Q3 of 2025 to release this. Let the "Friends" Botanical Garden retire and dwindle off shelves then hit the market with this guy. They also should have made it fit into the modularity system as well as WHY the extra $30 to an already inflated price tag? The Natural History Museum is also a NON LICENSED set yet it contains far more parts, and is $30 cheaper. 🤔 I do not understand LEGO pricing methods. If its not part count or licensee then why is the price increasing?? Anyways this set looks fantastic and props to the LEGO IDEAS submission for winning and becoming an official set! 👍 Cheers
Just guessing here, but it could be all the new part colours and part types for the windows and flowers etc. i know that won’t justify the big price jump, but i can see lego making that their reasoning
Why does Lego keep printing stickers for these expensive sets? Can these "influencers" maybe try to influence the company for once? Ridiculous that there are other brands that offer only printed parts for a fraction of Lego costs.
Great video 🎉 I like stickers lol but maybe that's because I'm a girl 😂 and personally glad that it doesn't connect to another set, definitely getting the set on day 1 😊
Everything about this set is good except for the fact that it sits on a flimsy 1.6mm baseplates. I serious don't understand why the designers did this.
The shots on location were breath taking. Well done sir!
Thanks Tiago 😄
You should learn from him
Biased lan reviewer recognizes biased lan reviewer beautiful.
Bro got turned into a Minifigure
My dream
Wow, next lego space station review will be lit!😂😂
@ivanm3342 Next Lego Star Wars planet themed set is going to be crazy
Hitting up SpaceX as we speak..
The shots are wonderful!!😍😍

What a clean review 👌
😋

Man, David, you really went the exta mile this review. Hats off to you, the shots and scenery are fantastic
Wow this is a really high quality review, I haven’t seen many reviews recently because I found them repetitive but wow this is so high quality :3
2:32 brooo those shots really highlights the set
The setting is stunning! Lovely, just lovely.
Best LEGO Review EVER
Already seen reviews of this but you clearly went above and beyond to make this one, well done!
Good review. Awesome set. I work at a famous property that has a conservatory. It's one of my favorite things on the property. LEGO did a great job
Stuff like this is why I'm subbed to you man, wonderful video and review
It was great to see this set reviewed on location! It really added a new depth to the quality of the video production!
What a creative background to review the set! Really liked the comparison to the Friends set and the Mansion. Your review was the best one of all the reviews I have seen on this set. Well done!
I love the on-location review, wicked idea!
Our boy is pushing the boundaries of LEGO reviews! What's next? Can't wait to see a Mustafar set review...😉😄

it's so cool to watch a fellow Virginian at Lewis Ginter
This jump-scared me I used to live near Lewis Ginter and do my homework there after school as a kid.
Just would like to add:
Jabba's sail barge is $180 more with only 200 more pieces and less minifigures 😅 perspectives. That said, this set is incredible and price point is perfect.
Star Wars license is very expensive!
Wow! Remote review. This is something I never expected but I love.
Great looking set! The cinematography was done so well and had me sold on the set even more!
Lovely review, and a lovely LEGO set. I just hope it will be cheaper soon. I think I want multiples of this. Or get 2 of the original Botanical garden and just have the combined one of that with this next to one another.
I know you said you’re not a plant expert… but not knowing the word “arid” was a bit jarring 😅😅
Had the same thought. Like, "Really, man? That's not a "plant word."
Definitely picking this one up + I want that gwp to go with it! Love that you did the review in an actual botanical gardens 🍁🪻🌻🌷🍄

This was a really calming review :) I would love to see more themed sets (as in the place you're in, not as in Lego set) in the future!
Thanks for the review, the location is really special. I'm considering picking this one up, like you said before, its a very nice set, I would love to add this to my collection. Keep up the great work. Greetings from Vienna Austria.
I love lewis ginter, shoutout to all my fellow richmonders
Lewis Ginter is the best!!! So many childhood memories there
Love the look of the garden and it’s definitely on my buy list now.
Absolutely stunning -- thank you for this gem.
Seeing you do the review in a location that looks freakishly similar to the set is so cool, good thinking Batman!
Considering the announced GWP, this might be a first Day-1 purchase for me.
lovely review!
Would love to see a large botanical collection next to this set
It is really interesting, when I think of this set I think of my own botanical garden close to home and it's in London, Kew Gardens it is actually home to more than half of all the plant species in the world!
Blows my mind this is half a grand.
Fantastic review! This is such a great set!
Incredible location for a wonderful review!
genuinely such a beautiful model. maybe top 10 lego set of all time? it’s def a day one purchase
Love this kind of review, make it so much more fun!
Epic botanical garden awesome consevertry great review 👍
Thanks so much!

I loved how bro filmed it there
Gonna buy the friends botanical gardens and just switch the figures out
For the price of this piece of plastic + tax, I could visit my local botanical gardens 23 times.
Can you compare the city garbage truck to a garbage truck next?
Haha brilliant
Now buy a 2nd and combine them into an even wider botanical garden.
I'm sure to get it, it's beautiful and true to the fan design 😊
Next Level Review 🤯
Day on buy for me. Great review, great location.
What a beautiful set
Can't wait for a spaceship review now
Casual Green Grocer flex, love to see it
Excellent review . Good jobs
This set is absolutely gorgeous, I just cant justify the price, might wait for a sale
It is a modular set... no normal person uses pins in the technic bricks anyway, because then you can't easily remove the modular from your city
yeah, was a bit weird to be annoyed you cant meaninglessly 'connect' the set to other modulars. like, its not going to look or function any different lol

Enough reviews! Everyone does reviews. More MOCs please.
My wife will love this
This comment is adorable 😭✋ give her the set please 😭
I just bought one for my GF. she'll be getting it as a surprise for Christmas. Along with the gate GWP.
I don't get the red lense for the camera, is it B&W plant photography?

You did it again.😂 Love it!!
What a fun way to approach this review!
UCS ISS/NASA sponsored set solidbrix goes to space
That'll be cool, or he could review the set near the spacecrafts at the Kennedy Space Center
Hats off, David, this was an incredible review! The close-up shots and comparisons with other sets convinced me that I absolutely need this set. I'll see what my wallet thinks about it. :P
the set would been better with a smal forest in the background

Me seeing other sets way better than x-mansion and thinking that GWP isn’t worth a day one purchase
lol, what a fun review
Am I the only one who thinks they should have added more ground level foliage in the center section?
Pretty nice
It’s not a modular, bc a botanical garden is always in a park and not on the street!

non modular and 329 EUR. it's gorgeous but I rather save and eventually just get rivendell

Looks like garden on the map Estate from mw2
I’m currently in the process of making this set but can’t seem to find the stickers? Where did you find yours?
Its missing Poison Ivy minifigure.
If I got it, Poison Ivy Moc
Canon stan detected!

Bro how much does it cost for buying this set?
Still wondering about the geonosis moc
Im sad the building itself isnt 2 studs deeper. I feel this lacks a bit of depth.
very small complaint for this otherwise beautiful set but i don't really like the use of that wand piece as a cane it's too short 😭
I agree
Please do ninjago like tiago!
