      I almost want to mod it into an outdoor roving sentry! It’s been really fun to do things like tell it to go to a pint in the house and watch it smartly navigate. Definitely fun but yeah I’m a small
      Place it wouldn’t be worth it.Ayane they’ll make a mini one someday :)

    question. does this require a cloud connection or accounts with the vendor? I'm not interested in any more products that require cloud connection at all (all of my IoT devices are prevented from connecting over the WAN). 2nd question... can you still use the robot and command it to start cleaning or adjust schedules and stuff without their app? is there some browser interface or anything?

      This is very cloud connected. There’s a way to start it for a general cleaning by pushing a button on the front but it needs a firmware update to have a good enough SLAM algo to be useful. I tried it with the default firmware and it was…not great. It ended up knocking its base station out of the wall and getting stuck on the cord. I’ll keep an eye out for a non cloud based one but this isn’t it.

      @@geektoolkit thank you... i hope vendors take note and we as tech enthusiasts need to do a better job of making people aware of products that require cloud connection and the implications of doing so. these products will stop working any time the vendor decides, or if they go out of business or if the simply don't put out an app for your version of android. which ultimately means, you don't own them. i, for one, am sick of it.

      Totally agree! I’ll try to specify that in my videos up front as well for future reviews. I’m hopeful as more home automation enthusiasts get setup and demand it we will show there’s a viable market for them.

      @@FrankGraffagnino I love your question and answer, they are very useful for everyone who plans to own a robot vacuum. I have just ordered a Z70 with a 3-year protection plan. I should re-think this product. Can you suggest a vacuum robot that works well, and the price is under $350. Thank you very much.

    Seems nice but.. does it clean bird poops? Something I've been looking for and I haven't found yet.

      I don’t have a bird to test but honestly doubt it. I don’t believe any of them could…that’s a limitation of a drag mop sadly. The vac is pretty powerful on this one but I don’t think it’d be a match.

    Nice pruduct i trus your reviews. And i am in the market for a new robo vac (my modified wifi old roomba is not cutting it anymore) .... question is does it integrates to Home Assistant ??

    • @geektoolkit
      @geektoolkit  3 роки тому

      I haven’t been able to get it integrated yet. iRobot’s have an integration, and I’d have to see if roborock does (roborock is very similar). For HA integration I don’t know if this is the way to go yet. I’ll update if I figure it out though, I suspect there may be some Tuya stuff behind the scenes

    Hello, I recently saw this review, I ordered the product from Amazon and it worked for me the first time, then it asked me for a firmware update and it stopped working. Anyone else have the same problem?

    • @geektoolkit
      @geektoolkit  2 роки тому +3

      Did the firmware update fail? Did you try turning it off and on or contacting the manufacturer?

      @@geektoolkit Hello, I contacted the technical support, apparently my device came with a defect in the laser and they already agreed to send me another one. I'm waiting for the replacement to arrive

      Lol I know, but I really was surprised. I'd not heard of the company, and compared to my iRobot, I was really impressed! I geek out on cool tech when it works the way I want it to in my head. And when it doesn't I shred it. I really don't do middle grounds well I spose.

    It’s a piece of crap. Stopped working in 2 months. No help from Amazon or the seller.
