Thank you Edward for being our local guide. ❤️ nothing better than having a native to show us around a beautiful place.
Thanks Catherine, glad to hear you liked the walk.
It’s always interesting to see a city together with a local. Beautiful tour and it was so nice to meet Eduard.
Hello Nicole, thanks for the kind words!
@@eduardvandijk3431 thanks for the tour of your great city! I was in Bergen Op Zoom in October 2022 for a day when I stayed in Roosendaal - really enjoyed it and will definitely return!
This place looks blooming beautiful!!!
That was fun. The city is so clean. Even the derelict building was clean.
Thanks much Edward and Ariel. It was a wonderful tour .
Interresting stuff ,eyeopener
I really liked experiencing this trip with you. It's so amazing. Thank you!
names on the old buildings is because in the past they didn't have house numbers. People could find the correct house by checking its name.
Hey ! I live here :)
It was great to revisit the town with you guys. Eduard pays attention to the architecture in a similar fashion as I do. During a future revisit, I will pay some additional attention to buildings you guys filmed that I did not pay much attention to, but that I do find quite charming in hindsight. I also want to visit the museum in the Markiezenhof, as I did not get the chance to do so before (like you, I only visited the spaces open/free to the public).
The old city hall and the city gate are buildings you should definitely visit if you get the chance. The first is interesting due to the decoration and furniture, and the latter has all sorts of texts scratched into the wood by inmates when it was used as a prison.
Thanks for tuning in!
Enjoyed it! Thank you!
Thanks for watching Ahmet😉
Interesting Tour 👍😊 As inheritage concerns Bergen op Zoom can be compared with a lot of other midsize towns in The Netherlands; Alkmaar, Dordrecht, Zwolle, Deventer, Zutphen, Doesburg, Roermond, Gouda, Leeuwarden, Dokkum, Venlo, Middelburg, Goes, Zierikzee, Enkhuizen, Hoorn…
Oh yes, plenty of beautiful mid-sized towns to explore in NL.
Top kudos points to Eduard. Nicely done sir 👍🇬🇧
Top kudos points accepted. Thanks for joining us on the tour.
53:44 Some of these have been back since October. There is for example one at the western side of Leiden station.
Beautiful 👀💜stream with eduard I enjoyed this replay thank you
Thanks for joining us on this walk Wendy.
14:25 There is for example this pottery type called "Lowlands Ware" that is found in a larger area of the Low Countries (e.g. Rhine area and northern/western Belgium) that can chemically be traced back to the area of Bergen op Zoom.
11:54 Compared to some other old towns (like those in Holland), I found this to be much more common in Bergen op Zoom. You can think of it as having a practical purpose: "I'll be waiting for you in front of "De Haen" and we'll be dining in "Het Wapen van Frankrijk".
crabs, "not the itchy kind" 😆
thanks to you, I'm getting Copenhagen tourism UA-cam ads
Hahah I’m glad 😂 Copenhagen is underrated!
Highly enjoyable tour! Big thanks to Eduard for his local knowledge! On a more serious note... if 55% of the Dutch population are non-religious, then I can be counted amongst them, hence the need for me to fast-forward past any religious video content, sadly 🤐
Wait you fast forward past the churches I featured?! 😳 haha just kidding, I don’t mind. I’m glad you enjoyed the tour with Eduard, he was so well prepared
Hey, thanks for your comment. I wanted to show the church as well but Ariel ran out of battery - guess you'll have to come back for the rest of the city Ariel!
Wow how long are you staying in the Netherlands. You should see Den Bosch too (and Roermond)
He could play van gogh
Yes, agreed with Eduard. Give Manhattan ("New Amsterdam") back to the Dutch! 😆
Berg op Zoom houdt U Vroom.
1:40:58 Worst thing about Bergen op Zoom accent xD. Most other towns and villages in North Brabant don't have it. Not even some of the villages in direct vicinity of Bergen.
🙏😷
What??? So Early????
I wonder why the “coffee shops” don’t serve specialty coffee? Opposite effect or they can only specialize in one thing? 🤔
Smokers tend to prefer tea, they often have a lot of different kinds on offer.
