  • This clip is played, recorded and edited by himself, focusing the Khongwong yai (circular gongs) which regarded to be the principle melodic instrument of Pipaht band.
    The chosen song example is entitled "phleng cha praram doen dong" (means 'lord Rama walks in the forest'), it is actually a set of song series consists of 4 main parts :
    1) phleng cha ('slow' songs) 3 movements playing repeatedly with probkai rhythmic pattern, accompanied by ching and Taphon drum at medium tempo.
    2) phleng songmai (medium song) 5 movements playing repeatedly with songmai rhythmic pattern accompanied by ching and Taphon drum at medium tempo.
    3) phleng reo ('fast' songs) 4 movements playing repeatedly with nathap phleng reo rhythmic pattern accompanied by ching and Taphon drum at fast tempo.
    4) phleng la (signify 'ending', comparable to coda) 1 movement with no repeat, accompanied by ching, Taphon drum and klong thad drums at medium tempo and .
    In general this song phleng cha praram doen dong will be played during the merit making ceremony, thamboon, when people offers foods to the monk. It also serves concert music.
    As for learning purpose, this song is a collective knowledge of khongwong hand patterns and a basic learning resource for piphat musicians to learn to develop a counterpoint-like making in relation to other melodic instruments found in the same band.
