    nice. Already told you, but your video give me confidence to do BMW swap. I watched many time, and when I put my hands on it, it was pretty easy with basic tools and small home garage. Your perseverance is inspiring !
    My project is to put all e90 335xi 6mt fully loaded drivetrain and equipement in my E91. And you know 'while I'm there' got a 6262 single turbo kit. Almost to the point to start it, but DKM twin disk clutch seems to have very long lead time. Ordered mine in may 2023, supplier told me end October... Anyway tanks for the E91 playlist, was very useful, I'm posting time to time on e90post.
    Now the CIC, comfort access, rear backup sensors, mpack and individual sound system will be a fun retrofit...

      That sounds like a fun swap, I think the x-drive will make it perfect for all-season road trips. Thanks for watching, and good luck with your journey!

    Quick tip, throw a lug bolt back on by a few threads and then hit it. At the bmw dealership I work at, all the new guys crack wheels by letting them fall

    Love your stuff! you’ve really helped me a lot. I rescued a 2001 525 wagon that had been abandoned for 10 years. I do have a question for you. In your opinion what would be the best bang for your buck bmw v8 to swap into a 525. Just looking for a bit more power.

    • @TheBimmerBarn
      @TheBimmerBarn  8 місяців тому +1

      Appreciate you watching! If you ask me, I'd say check out some forced induction options before deciding to do a V8 swap. If you go with M60/M62 or even S62, you'll need the 540i subframe and steering box which drives very different than the steering rack and aluminum subframe of the 525i. Also the motor is heavier and you feel it in the front end. If you want a 540i, it's easier to buy one instead of building one. If you want more power out of your M54, invest some money and you may be able to achieve the same horsepower. Hope that helps!

    • @BigKillacamster
      @BigKillacamster 8 місяців тому

      Thank you for the insight. I assumed it was plug and play. Knowing it would change the driving characteristics steers me away. I want it as factory as possible.
      Really like when you go into details in the videos by the way, please keep them coming.

    hi great video, i have a question would this technique work with a 04 545i and a 06 750i am swaping the 750 engine into the 545 just would know if you know if it would work thanks.

    • @TheBimmerBarn
      @TheBimmerBarn  6 місяців тому

      You would probably need to get the DME for a 550i and then I imagine with some coding it should work. It'll definitely fit since the motor is the same size, but the programming and sensors are slightly different between N62 and N62TU

    Gravely disappointed! I'm trying to understand the work needed when changing the DME and everyone "sends them out."

    • @TheBimmerBarn
      @TheBimmerBarn  2 місяці тому +1

      Ideally, you want to keep the DME that the engine came with, so as to keep the correct programming. When we talk about sending the DME out, it just means someone did a "bench EWS unlock" which disables the security programming on the engine computer, so when you plug it into a new car, it will work with the new security module. Usually you can find someone in your local BMW group who will do it, or you can find someone online like eBay or Facebook who will do the service for you! Hope that helps
