Thanks Jeff!
Not much action, but thanks for making the effort.
1:24. North side of the TBM. Worker comes out of shipping container, goes around to the front of the TBM and is gone by 1:48.
Entered the TBM via the cutter-head? Att. David Salisbury.
Can get through go the cutter head in to the machine via the airlock. Wouldn’t do it unless you were working on something inside the cutter head as it is an awkward access route to the inside of the shield.
@@davidsalisbury50 Is there multiple access points? I think I can see a square opening. Maybe an opening in each quadrant?
@@DessieDoolan A TBM of this type will have a 30%-35% opening ratio in the cutterhead. These openings are large enough to climb through into the excavation chamber behind the cutterhead where the spoil is mixed before being extracted by the screw conveyor at the bottom. There are usually mixing arms inside the excavation chamber. Two or three fixed to the bulkhead, another two or three rotating with the cutterhead. A bit like a kitchen mixer for bread dough. Also some means of climbing around for cutter changes, heavy duty manhole step irons.
Thank you!
Fire it up. Weather turned out nice.
R u going to stick around in case they run it? Maybe Saturday
Merci👍👍👍
That site looks nothing like the Boring Company test site in Hawthorne, CA
No, the dirt was pushed back to fill in the gap. Launched, like starship, means it’s outta here. Why can I still see it!
👍
1100 days ago wow🤯
It will be interesting to see the Prufrock-3 start it's initial digging, so we can see it's rotational an longitudinal speed.
Will they have to close the highway for this or it will travel much deeper to impact the highway?
TBMs have to start slow. Bit like an aircraft taking off, a completely different set of procedures compared to cruising speed.
Also they will need to stop after a couple of weeks to install the rest of the backup decks. Then we will see how fast it can go by the reduction in segments on site (assuming no more are delivered the same day).
Should not need to close the highway if they are getting it right.
Monitoring of spoil volume excavated versus advance rate will tell them.
@@davidsalisbury50 Thank you. Very informative.
So many Mars rovers! 🤩🤩🤩
@ 2:44 Vehicles being stored rather than being delivered to customers?
Let's see how it looks in a few more days, from what I can see the loading frequency has tapered off a little bit but again, that's very subjective analysis, catching the car carriers on SH 130, which I travel every day.
🏗️🚇.....
Blah blah blah that thing has been "about to launch" for weeks and weeks. Is there some permit application on the desk of some bureaucrat that everyone is waiting on? Good grief.
Well that was a waste of time. Please tell us your definition of launch. Click bate maybe?
It has definitely moved forward. But yes, kind of a tease. 😂
@@cantwheelie525it has not moved forward. They have backfilled in front of the cutter head. Still waiting for the cross conveyor to be installed before they can start.
