At 2:50 is a beautiful lick that I have heard Django play on a track I think is called Danse Norvigienne. To this day it is one of the most beautiful things I ever heard Django play. Heavenly, sublime and awe inspiring. In the background you can hear someone draw breath audibly and it always made chills go up my spine and tears well up in my eyes. Same when Stochelo plays it. He truly channels the spirit of Django and his legacy lives on and on and on! wonderful. thanks for posting.
WOW!!! That is truly amazing. I felt that Django was there. Such chops are clearly super normal and are simply GIANT. Thank you so much for playing!!! AND thanks for posting it!
Great rememberings, The Gipsy Boys with Kaathe Rosenberg (solo guitar),Falko Reinhardt (rhythm guitar) and Sani van Mullem were amazing guests of Stochelo, Nonnie and Nous´sche Rosenberg in the Tuinpaviljoen on Friday, July 8th at 21.30 pm.
Look how these guys are dressed. Pure class. No jeans with holes in them, or looking like they just crawled out of a dumpster after an eight day drunk. Some of the so-called, "Artists" here in the states could take a few lessons from them on how to look professional. Super playing. Love Stochelo's tone, and the guitar and bass compliment his playing soooo well.
WOW Stochelo looks so young here! And DAMN he sure can play. I really think Django would flip over this rendition of one of his classic tunes. So much soul, so much virtuosity, and yeah, I agree with who ever said "Take that Yngwie! Let's hear you play this one . . "
I love the Rosenberg Trio. Check out their version of Black Eyes. They are fantastic together. The bass player and rhythm are brothers and Stochello is their cousin if I'm not mistaken.
Not until now do I realize, but I think the reason Stochelo is so incredibly close to django's tone and sound is his emphasis on just using his pointer and middle finger. He uses his ring, but very rarely, almost only for chords. Fantastic.
From 1.07 to 1.56 it is a copy, almost note for note, of Djangos solo. Done wonderfully by Stochelo. Why are so many on here worried about mistakes? A guitar player is not a machine. This is not someone like Yngie practicing scales onstage! Les Paul said "If i want to hear perfect rhythmic precision i'd turn on my washing machine" Joe Pass said "We all make mistakes,just keep going.. it's what you say AFTER the mistake that makes up for it."
to caranauba:it's not nylon,it's a standard acoustic gypsy strings pack,all steel strings,they are silver wounded except the 1st(E) and the 2nd(B),like most of standard acoustic,(whereas there are mostly bronze wound on acoustic guitar to play Folk or pop music,you notice the difference by the colour of it,and the tone)
@superultramegamighty There was no need to point it out. It was noise, not a wrong note. He played a burning lick right afterword.This sounds like a comment motivated by jealousy.
@gr0mithtimon Good to know. Actually I was referring to the type of music, which I should have called 'Gypsy Jazz'. Whatever the case, I love these guys, and could listen to them all day.
Actually quite a few jazz players write out their solos and then improvise over what they've written, it helps to ensure that your solos are clunker-free, chick corea wrote this essay about it the title of which i forget, i think it's like "On Improvising" or something
Nothing to do with Django, though I agree with vanbaarm. Just going through the motions on an old standard. Hey, these guys tour non-stop (Gypsies!)! Hard to be inspired every single day!
@superultramegamighty even virtuoso are allowed slipups,doesn't matter... back in 1994 Stochelo was still merely copying Django note for note,nowadays luckily he's developed his own style and licks.North Sea Jazz Festival is one of the highest rated festivals in the world and you can clearly tell that they were very nervous,with good reason....
Can anyone tell me where the music parts from 2:10 to 2:15 come from? Sounds Spanish or Mexican in origin... really cool part to an otherwise amazing performance I feel.
@superultramegamighty It was his left finger pulling off the string. It was not a wrong note. You are being very anal by pointing this out. It's concentrating on the most miniscual, negative thing anyone could comment on, rather than commenting on something positive, like his immense talent!
one criticism i will make of stochelo is that he pre-learns his solos so it ind of takes away from the whole jazz ideology.....although im sure that he does improv some of the time, if you listen to his solos on youtube (and for that matter on his albums) they are all relatively "the same." Of course there are variations but yeah.......
Yeah critizising is for free............:) . Stochelo is one of the best manouche players out there, and sorry I find some of the comments hilarious. Yes being a bedroom player means you have a lot of spare time, but maybe you'd be better off practising your scales or playing live ,rather than spotting mistakes from others (specially if we are talking about one of the greatest manouche players ever XD)
@duanecoakes Hah! Try telling your philosophy to Andres Segovia! He would laugh in your face, man. Nigga was ALL about perfection. And he fucking got it
@superultramegamighty You should retract that comment if you are remorseful. I wrote the previous comment before reading your admission of guilt. I'm happy you repented because this guy is amazing. I will retract mine if you retract the critical comment.
Well the thing is these guys don`t have to spend all of their money on Electronic Effects Pedals & Tattoos...so I guess that they can afford to dress up.
@vanbaarm spot on. This guy is copying a recording of django and he is subtly but noticably getting ahead of the timing and it just sounds rushed, like a breathless piano recital. django never played it the same way twice so this guy is really missing the point.
@duanecoakes Yes, it seems that some are impressed with guitarists who practise scales and get applause. If we go into any music shop we see 13 yr old kids shredding, note for note perfect BUT no feeling. No authenticism. There's a 12 yr old kid in my area who plays guitar with gloves on! What for? What is there to prove? Django did it all with two fingers and open wounds on his left hand.
What a musicianship ❤❤❤ . "Old school" class playing with incredible touch and vibrato.Whole trio is just phenomenal...
this is guitar perfection it cant possibly be better than this! I can't even imagine a better performed solo in this genre
Makes me cry, in a positive way. melancholic
Stunning. His fingers movement is so beautiful.
not just impressing, but sweet as chocolate with sharp as chili - with bits of strawberry. wonderfull:-)
Holy Christ........that bought tears to my eyes. What an amazing performance.
mi fai tornare indietro nel tempo....il trio santo subito. Grazie
The BEST what can i say....!!!!

I'm very new to this style of play, its really amazing what these people are capable of
Excellent!!! Thanks for posting:)
Grandma mary
Amazing!!! Bravo!!! virtuosic *and* with feel

The " nuages " are made with the rythm guitar and the bass :)
STOCHELO FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
magnifique j aime beaucoup
i llove the tune and like this version a lot compared to the lots i seen on utube. great stuff guys
Superb!
That ending at 2:25 is so amazing. Elegant!
БРАВО!

Ce beau chorus est intégralement celui de Django...
Couldn't agree more. Stochelo is more like a classical guitar player. At home he writes the most beautiful solo's and perfect it.
celle là est quand même particuliérement hallucinante.
From 1.07 to 1.56 it is a copy, almost note for note, of Djangos solo.
Done wonderfully by Stochelo.

Maybe but when django played it was very calm ...Hear the django's version and you will see but it's normal some people prefer the version.
There you go.
best Nuages' version
Combien de millions de versions existe t il de ce merveilleux "nuages"
1994?!!!! can't be judging from the HUGE shoulder pads towards the end!!!!
Pure
Stochelo is fantastic! I'd love to try out one of those special acoustic jazz guitars.
❤️
great
quel talent et il reprend le chorus de Django , un hommage

hij doet gewoon stoer
Long live French Swing!
Well... Best Nuages' version since Django at least...
sick
favorite note... 0:25
Actually, it means ''clouds'', but you're right: it doesn't have to be slow.
Great videos!!! Do yiu have the full concert?
Where can I get it?Post some more!!!
Thanks
Django's song was "nuage"and how django played it'was like a "nuage"or a cloud if you prefere but with rosenberg i don't see a cloud ...
I'd hate to be one of the poor schmucks sitting behind them!
@MalcaratMartinez
Well said...
Nothing to do with Django, though I agree with vanbaarm. Just going through the motions on an old standard. Hey, these guys tour non-stop (Gypsies!)! Hard to be inspired every single day!
The ending is so sweat.
what did django want to say
@oberlepa
Not that it is of great importance, but these guys are Dutch.
Flawless...got to be the closest to Django there is...
5/5*
NO IS NOUT NORTHE SEA JAZZ, IT IS ON DUTCH TV
@superultramegamighty
even virtuoso are allowed slipups,doesn't matter...

Yeah Stocholo, but you have all your fingers.
Can anyone tell me where the music parts from 2:10 to 2:15 come from? Sounds Spanish or Mexican in origin... really cool part to an otherwise amazing performance I feel.
I agree. This is too nervous.
@superultramegamighty It was his left finger pulling off the string. It was not a wrong note. You are being very anal by pointing this out. It's concentrating on the most miniscual, negative thing anyone could comment on, rather than commenting on something positive, like his immense talent!
Christ on bike, they can play.
@IntellDevice
nuages=clouds
but he can play how he likes,ill listen.
its a steel string. no nylon involved.
@superultramegamighty
Anyone who can criticize Mr Rosenburg must be amazing! I'll have to check out your channel...oh...just did...never mind...
@superultramegamighty I wouldn't call that a mess up.
umm...you sure it was 2:50?
Did you ever get an answet to this?
are the strings all nylon or are the E A and D strings wound with some kind of metal.
OMG 0:18-0:24

For a somewhat surprising and romantic Nuages interpretation, try this: ua-cam.com/video/EcB97_Hv9yk/v-deo.html

At first glance, I thought you said "best Niggas Version
They don't understand what django wanted to say i thing .
Here he is just showing he can play very quicly but there is no expression in his play.Pity
@superultramegamighty You should retract that comment if you are remorseful.
I wrote the previous comment before reading your admission of guilt. I'm happy you repented because this guy is amazing. I will retract mine if you retract the critical comment.
hahahahdhsahh
You are entitled to that opinion, but it is pretty obvious that the masses are against you.
Well the thing is these guys don`t have to spend all of their money on Electronic Effects Pedals & Tattoos...so I guess that they can afford to dress up.

Maybe he is 'speaking' in a dialect you cannot understand.
Stunning!
