  • Join Dan and Bobby as they take the 1910 Hudson Model 20 Open Roadster for a spin at the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum in Fairbanks, Alaska. This 114-year-old gem is a testament to early automotive innovation and is one of the few remaining preservation class cars, showcasing its original, unrestored condition.
The Hudson Model 20 was a significant competitor to the Model T, boasting affordability and style. Hudson Motor Corporation's early success saw 4,000 units sold in the first year, thanks to savvy marketing. Notable figures like Roy Chapin, who later became the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, played key roles in the company.
This car features an inline-four engine with 20 horsepower and a three-speed slide gear transmission. Unique elements include a hand-crank start, kerosene wick lanterns, and an optional pickup bed. Despite its age, this Hudson still runs like a champ, proving the durability and craftsmanship of early 20th-century automobiles.

You said, priced right. Just how much? $ dollars? Then It can be compared with Ford of the times. And Henry set the right price. I am always interested in the details. A lot of early cars had superior features than Ford. (those that were in the affordable care racket) . It seems like this Hudson ran circles around everything. Fix the starter, no problem. Hudson should have been a top contender? So just how much did it cost?

Thanks for the comment! The 1909 Hudson carried an original price tag of $900 which was a very attractive price for such a high grade vehicle! A Model T Ford of the same year would've run you around $850 for comparison, as Ford was still in the process of streamlining their production to reduce their price tags.

Hudson merged with Nash in the 50s to become AMC ...so really didn't go out of business then
