The former owner of Caldwell potter. Mighty Bandit and Pied Piper must be laughing their heads off getting over 1.2 Million for 3 horses that haven't won over 20k combined in 1 year
Tbf, this is only Caldwell potters 2nd run for Nicholls. I get ur point tho, they brought him as a ‘potential gold cup horse’ but I don’t see him getting anywhere near the 3 miles 2 furlong trip.
@@barneyrubble9239 For them 3 yes the owner sold all his horses this time last year there was around 40 all together he made something like 5.6 Million for the lot in total so far only 6 of the horses that were sold have won a race since he sold them
Well obviously they would be doing cartwheels all the way to the bank, but the new owners that paid that type of cash are not very shrewd when it comes to the horse business BUT I think they'll not make that mistake again.
@@igor3504: I think if anyone can make a horse improve is Nicholls & Caldwell Potter is a Novice Hurdle G1 winner but then he met Bai last time & got 5lb & a 13 lengths beating & now a 2nd beating from same horse so has a bit of improvement needed. He is only 6yrs old so has a bit time.
Jango Baie jumped superbly on his chasing debut. Put the Nicholls/Ferguson hype horse in his place. Excellent start to what might be an exciting chasing career
@michaelmcginley7930 yep. Of course ferguson & associates lost a horse to a fatality and they immediately went out and bought caldwell potter, so they were maybe desperate to buy and might've paid over the odds. For me Potter looked tapped for toe. I'd maybe see if he needs 3 miles. Jango on the other hand might be good enough to be another Jonbon or even a gold cup horse in time
I said a few weeks ago after Caldwell's chase debut i wasn't impressed and Elliot probably had 10 more talented in his yard. The Irish talent is OUTRAGEOUSLY deep, Mullins has so many outstanding horses he can't even keep them apart, i feel bad cause I really want nicholls to have a proper superstar, but as is usually the case in racing expensive horse doesn't mean ability.
A Hendo winner is better than a Mullin's loser eh Martin? You're learning kid. You still have a long road ahead but this is the first step in recovery.
A 13 lengths stuffing 1st time against Caldwell given him 5lb & 2nd beating even worse by Bae so Caldwell needs Nicholls magic & a powerful rocket up its back side to turn that type of battering.
The big, scopey grey made the race what it was - his exuberant jumping was full of vitality and courage .. when he learns how to settle he’ll beat the first two. Meanwhile, post race interviewing poorly edited.
When Alex Ferguson and a few others paid the best part of a mill (740000 2 b exact) for C.Potter.. I thought, why ? It'd had already lost in 4 times in its previous seven runs when they bought it, and not just lost but finishing 8th and 6th and well beaten in 3rd. I could understand if it was a star novice like Sir Gino or something, but it wasn't that. It had one impressive run in a bog, in a 5 runner Grade 1 novice hurdle in Ireland (where the other horses that came out the race haven't done anything). I mean if it was that good then why did Gordon Elliot and owners sell it ? Probably laughing their asses off now. I would be
"Might we be seeing Jango Baie again, quite soon?" Stupid question. We'll be lucky to see him again, this season 👎 It wasn't a very good race, so it's difficult to know how good the winner is, but I don't think he's top-class
Can I ask a question please people regarding Constitution Hill. If he comes back to his best & goes same Champion Hdle route why does Mullins send Stateman instead of Lossiemouth when Hill won the 2023 Champion & was back home having dinner by the time Stateman got to the line ? Its obvious he can't turn that form round but A.P McCoy thinks Lossiemouth could beat Constitution Hill ? Also why not give Ballyburn a go at it ? Me personally I think if Nicky gets Constitution Hill back to 100% he & keep him there could go on a better unbeaten sequence than Altior & improve past even Sprinter Sacre who was a MACHINE & probably would've went unbeaten from 2 to 2 & half miles. Buveur'Dair 2nd Champion Hdle he was absolutely brilliant that season winning the Irish Champion too under Davy Russell BUT i think Constitution would've won the 2024 Champion & 2025 easy if still 100% & do an unprecedented fourth in 2026 which i think Istabraq would've done if there wasn't foot & mouth disease.

Stupid that they scrapped the Turners over 2 1/2m. Plenty of horses fit into that race and may have to go miss Cheltenham all together.
First Hendo runner I’ve backed In about 5 years this thing today.
