I like to think of bracing the right knee pushing down / forward throughout the backswing and keeping some pressure forward with it. Makes the forward weight shift so much easier.
Basically started doing that last year ,much more control but I concentrated on pushing my right hip back which does the same thing for me. Thanks for the lesson
Thanks Ali. Something I struggle with. I know I do it, work on correcting it and it very slowly creeps back in without my knowing it is even happening. Some rounds worse than others. Any drills pre round to stop the “sway”?
Perfect ‼️ like and subscribe people. Congratulations 🎈 You’ve just been taught “the” biggest part of the golf swing ! You’ve found gold !!! Let’s see if you pass … hear what ALi is sayin? Or Fail… go ehhh not sure I won’t do this 😂 Good luck 🍀
I have been trying to use pressure (trying to work from a sway) more, but I still will top/skull a fairway wood or chunk a short iron. Do you recommend pausing at the top for a beat, to allow the put my lead heel down and not come over the top/throw the club?
I like to feel like I am twisting my rear foot into the ground on setup, which feels like I am turning more into my trail hip instead of swaying on the back swing
Weight, mass, pressure, force - these are just linguistic labels interpreted uniquely by each brain for its body. If we talk scientifically then what you call a pressure shift is also a weight shift, technically. Pressure = force/ area. Weight is a force - mass x gravitational acceleration. So when someone shifts weight, they shift pressure. Also in the demo, what you showed as a weight shift is a controlled "sway" by an experienced and very good golfer. And the pressure shift is more rotation and almost zero sway. For us high handicappers with a technical bent of mind, all contrarian clickbait videos just make it worse. I think that's why Tiger said, "Don't watch YT videos, just hit the range." I need to pay that far more respect than I do.
This is the most articulate explanation of sway vs pressure I've ever heard, well done!
Great expression of the concept Ali. I was playing with a head cold last Monday and lost my sequencing completely. This is the fix I needed.
Great to hear

Nice acknowledgement of pressure vs. weight shift. 😊
Thanks
When are you shifting left I can’t figure out when to do that. Top of back swing then slide a bit but how and when.

Not really, you need to start moving towards the target before the club reaches the top of the backswing.

No point in hitting the range if you're working on the wrong thing though. Easy comment from Tiger.
