These Etsy gurus should be held accountable tbh. I almost fell for a $900 course when I first heart of POD and thank goodness my bs radar lit up. I then joined one that only charges ~$35 for month ... in resume her course is all about "chasing whats popular" and creating a similar design but better 😉. I left that group after 3 months if bc if theres anything I learned is that POD on Etsy is far far from what they make it seem. Success stories were like "After 1 yr of hard work I finally made a $200 profit after the canva/kittl/mockups/etc costs"
There definitely needs to be more videos like this calling out these gurus BS. As someone doing research to startup an online business I can safely say this video was a beaming ray of sunshine in an otherwise cesspool of youtube gurus talking about the thousands of sales they have and millions in revenue they make, & by joining their coaching community you too can make thousands a month. It's become very obvious the most profitable business on Etsy is selling coaching how to make on Etsy. 🤣
I would absolutely love for you both to do a very in-depth video on how to set up your etsy shop from start to finish. Covering every little detail. I can't tell you how much money I lost on shipping alone because I did not understand how to set it up. It took almost 2 months for me to resolve the issue on my own. I see people that want to help but not actually care enough to help completely.
I had this feeling about trends in my gut when I started my Etsy, that I want to build my own brand, sell my idea, and find my own niche and my customer. I understand that this approach will take time and work, but I'm not chasing quick money. My shop is 5 month old, few sales so far, last couple of months is very quiet. The same as old and established stores. So just keep doing what I'm doing and one day it will pay off.
Don’t forget about the so-called ambulance chasers that cold message you on social media platforms trying to get you to buy their assistance. I can’t tell you how many people I have blocked this weekend alone.
question: We do gift baskets on our shopify. Our Etsy we rebranded to focus on knitting/crochet. Our idea was "cozy time" with products that would fit that. Would that be niche enough, or doing more "gift baskets" such as baby shower with items made for that be better?
Following trends is the same for me as original inventions I think of that already exist, I'm always behind on it, lol. With Chris as Etsy Mayor I hereby grant you title of "Master Etsy Guru", a title Anakin Skywalker didn't even get...

I’ve been guilty of following trends to. I know better now and have changed my game plan.

Thank you for your honesty!
Many don't admit that it was much easier when they started years ago and that it's much more difficult if you try to start now.

Amen to that!
