This band is not a secret to Canadians, their tunes coarse through our veins with pure delight. If you have ever had the chance to see them live, you are blessed and understand 'The Hip'...period.
I'm Scottish but I seen them at Markham Fairground in Toronto many years ago, brilliant band, and Gord Downie is a front man and a half...so many great songs but this one is a standout... 👌👌
@@BeckBeckGo when I think of the best of Canadian music, I think of The Hip, right alongside Sloan, Chixdiggit, Hayden, Cowboy Junkies, many more. I first heard them on an alternative music show, love @ first listen. Half a lifetime later, still love + listen to them. 💕
Timeless! One of their best songs, F***ING awesome, after over 20 yrs. and it still rocks me like day one (and will do so till I'm dead!). Great band with amazingly rocking songs. One of my favorite rock bands. Thanks!
Hated them, all through High school , found them boring and overrated! I’m a punk forever, let’s not forget. Saw them at Craven one night, was ok. Sit here at 47, big fan. Late bloomer, by the power of music, Gord made me proud to be a Canadian again. Haven’t been home for 15 years, still waiting for another Gord I guess. Pierre will help.
I saw them on this tour in front of less than 100 people in a shithole of a place in a strip mall in Augusta Georgia. I was on the front row singing along, too loudly apparently, and Gord told me to "shut up!!!!" right into the mic. It was awesome.
My first taste of this amazing band was with the release of "Up To Here". Got it free from my cousin who was a DJ in Duluth MN. Who'd have thought I'd still be listening all these years later. "Fully Completely" was my favorite along with "We Are The Same".
First heard this song many years ago in the Science Museum in Vancouver during an adult’s only laser and music night. Reclining seats, a few beers and the smell of weed certainly added to the atmosphere!
New to The Tragically Hip, discovered them via reprising Due South episodes and The Hundredth Meridian was enough to peak my interest. Bought the ‘Fully Completely’ album CD a few weeks ago on Amazon and listening to it right now. I have to say, what an awesome band they are. And this track, proper kicks ass. I was just curious to see if this had a music video! 👍👍
Welcome! Can't believe I've been a fan for 20+ yrs. The sound makes me feel the same as it did at 16. This may be asking for tmi or perceived as irrelevant but if you want to share...are you Canadian?
No need to respond to my random curiosity. Just checked out your channel. "Jersey" jumped out at first quick glance until I clicked on "Kick in the butts", heard the accent & aha...its actually the isle of Jersey. Great opening song for your video btw. Cheers!
What a song, what a band. Man am I ever going to miss them. Gord actually has some of his songs studied by english majors because of some of his lyrics and rhymes in his songs.
I seen the hip live and they sing and play with do much emotion and energy they are addictive cant wait to see them again...the hip fuckin rock ....live on play fuuckin hard till we meet again
I love you dear ! You left this world to soon! My heart goes a long way .You toùch my heart , every time .I hear your voice ! And your family and everyone you havè touched with your Heart!! And spirit ! Your spirt lives on ! Love You Gord !Yoù have been a great spirt and my family & friends lives !! 💗💖🐝
Forgive me the Rush's, April Wines, Trumphs and other great Canadian bands of the past but the Hip was the greatest band this beautiful country ever produced.
I seen The hip...they are a fanominal band live so much emotion and energy...someone wrote they are addictive and that is so fuckin true....live on .....cant wait to see them again....you fuckin rock
Downie was a weird, quirky, amusing guy who was a stellar lyricist and a great, interesting vocalist. I'm a Canuck and I just always thought that his bandmates seemed as though they were in a completely different group. They all looked average and they all had what my twin brother and I used to call "stupo hair". Their musicianship was solid, but I can't help but think that Gord deserved better. He had the vibe of someone who, with a better band name and mates who fit his energy, an international legend.
This is a dark song. It would make a good background soundtrack for one of the current cop shows, e.g. "Law and Order", CSI, "Criminal Minds", etc. Mmmousemaid
I know! Just asked myself where the last 20 went. But their sound somehow still makes me feel the same as it did in the beginning but I guess maybe that's what art is supposed to do.
I grew up in northern NYS, about 12 miles south of the Canadian border and listened to these guys A LOT. Love them, as well as Canada’s penchant for ROCK MUSIC.
If I wasn't an Aussie, I'd be proud to be called a Canadian with pure allegience to the " HIP"
Rock on.
We love you guys too, keep on rocking down under!
Daryl R. If I wasn’t Canadian, I’d be proud to be called Australian
Daryl, as a I'm a Kiwi, I feel the same
I’m Aussie as well , discovered the lads 4 years ago and love them
On that note, I can actually imagine Powderfinger cranking out a decent version of this gem!

Saw the Hip open for Jimmy Page + Robert Plant. Best. Show. EVER. RIP Gord, love + miss u
Every show at First Ave. Best band ever, every time they were witnessed live, I don't care who ya are.
@@maire454Gordie is right up there with the rest of our brilliant canadian storytellers. ❤ He's one of our bestsellers.

I saw them in Asheville, North Carolina, but I was already a huge fan (from the States)!!!
Timeless! One of their best songs, F***ING awesome, after over 20 yrs. and it still rocks me like day one (and will do so till I'm dead!). Great band with amazingly rocking songs. One of my favorite rock bands. Thanks!
Me too. I was at the first road side. Never coming back. :)

Gord was a definite talent - one the greatest Canadian bands - rock solid top to bottom - grossly underrated
One of the best, period.
Grossly underrated? How? They were truly loved by all in Canada.
still one of the most chilling, exhilerating, dark pieces of music.the guitar is just brutal.stunning! play very loud. disturbingly cool!
Glad you love it as much. As me.
The GOAT. Most bands only last for 10 years or less. The HIP's love and friendship for each other and their fans is unequaled.
RIP Gord Downie you will be missed by all! Your music will live on forever!
never gets old - still sounds great - The Hips best song without question and Gord's best vocals
LET ME OUT !!!! ... what a classic - Canada's best band ever ? - definitely one of them
1) The Guess Who 2) The Tragically Hip

Surely one of Canada's finest. Big, big respect. RIP Gord.
Undisputed best Canadian band
Absolutely rocking stuff from the band that everyone should love
Awesome album too
My favorite Canadian band of all time had this CD in the early 90s love it to this day, thanks from colorado
This song kills it! Why the Hip is the worlds greatest band..
My first taste of this amazing band was with the release of "Up To Here". Got it free from my cousin who was a DJ in Duluth MN. Who'd have thought I'd still be listening all these years later. "Fully Completely" was my favorite along with "We Are The Same".
Their best song for sure.
My favorite Hip song.
Top 100 singles...
The ending....is fabulous
First heard this song many years ago in the Science Museum in Vancouver during an adult’s only laser and music night. Reclining seats, a few beers and the smell of weed certainly added to the atmosphere!
One of their best songs, from their best CD.
This song makes me shiver every time...

Maggie Fournier, Cheers! Did that for college project, also tried to quit smoking. Only took 3 attempts and 5 yrs but finally doin’ it for real!
What a song, what a band. Man am I ever going to miss them. Gord actually has some of his songs studied by english majors because of some of his lyrics and rhymes in his songs.
Chills down the spine!
The perfect rock song. Fantastic riff. Always have to break out the air guitar and prance around like a lunatic when I play this at full blast! 🤘
Possibly the most beautiful soul in the business.
My husbands favorite group in the 90's. Wow 20 years latter. 🤨😪👀🙏

Thank you for this ❤
Possibly their finest moment evah, goddamn this is good.
Well I am a Canadian living in Scotland and I can vouch that both places are stunning! :)
85Ellechim: I totally agree with you. My radar went off when he was watching the little kid play baseball. And intensely grabbing the fence.
Me gusta mucho this song.
Intense lyrics no formulaic pop drivel lyrics.. Set a mood
Canada!
absolutly ! saw them in montreal that was just awesome !
RIP Gord.
this song pretty much defines Canada for me, especially the first minute it's just great chillaxing music.
Forgive me the Rush's, April Wines, Trumphs and other great Canadian bands of the past but the Hip was the greatest band this beautiful country ever produced.
