    I found it really hilarious when Lawrence Fishburne's character starts laughing on the roof-top and then on the next scene in the basement/locker room he continues laughing. I imagined them going down the stairs or riding a cramped elevator while he's still laughing. lol

      It was the $14 million bounty from killing 2 high council members (or soon-to-be members) that he was running from, lol. Excommunicado itself didn't put out the bounty. That just gave Winston the option to execute him for breaking the rules if he chose to, which Winston chose NOT to. Explained literally by Winston at the end.

    • @CubanBeastt
      @CubanBeastt 7 років тому +5

      Deathbrewer excommunicado also ment he couldn't go back to any of the hotels or places controlled by Winston. Basically he has nowhere to hide.

Peters been in Fargo, The big Lebowski, Constantine, The Brothers Grimm, Armageddon, Hansel and Gretel, so yes he is very well known and to add him to John Wick story line and live to make peace with John just shows how he will play out in the third one.

      The Movie series should end with the line "You're gonna carry that weight." I will NOT accept any other endings "Peroid!"
      For those who don't get this reference, here is my reasons:
      1.Cowboy Bebop's ending is classic and epic, it is the best ending for an assassin, both sad and heroic.
      2. Based on the lore of the movie, Rules above all, and who breaks it has to pay, and the only consequence is DEATH.
      3. Keanu Reeves and Spike Spiegel, they are the perfect match, and John Wick series could be the only chance Keanu be as close as Spike on the big screen. Since Keanu had already turned down the role few years back.

    • @DeathBringer769
      @DeathBringer769 7 років тому +15

      I noticed that too. At different points he'd sometimes hold up part of his suit jacket over the rest of him, like grabbing the side of your jacket and lifting it up in front of you like a shield. There were a lot of cool, tiny little details like that thrown in this movie, even when they pass by super fast and are barely noticed. I liked that attention to detail even if everything wasn't completely realistic, lol.

    • @mitromney
      @mitromney 7 років тому +12

      How does it top it? It's not even similar. Joker's pencil scene was a joke scene, a "trick". John Wick's pencil scene was a fight scene. It's like saying a car chase scene tops a car sex scene. Both include cars, but how the hell does that make them comparable?

    Another thing I loved about this film were the western style "stand offs." Like when John met Cassian in this movie. It was like those old western cowboy films where they have those 1 vs 1 "quick-draw" showdowns, but this time the directors brought that to the modern day. Love this film!

    Magazines, not clips. Clips are tiny metal strips that hold a row of bullet's together, magazines are box-like containers that use a spring to push bullets into the chamber of a full and or semi automatic firearm. Nearly all modern guns use magazines instead of clips nowadays.

    • @claireglory
      @claireglory 7 років тому +6

      soldiers would just say it as clips. magazines are too long to say.
      some would speak it as magz.

    • @450011278a
      @450011278a 7 років тому

      Robert Carey this is probably a stupid question, but could an example of clips be when you reload your sniper in BF1?

    • @DeathBringer769
      @DeathBringer769 7 років тому +1

      +green house You just says "mags" for short. There's never an excuse for a soldier to incorrectly says "clips" when it's not actually a clip. You don't even save any time compared to saying the correct "mags." You can't even use that as an excuse since mags and clips are just the same amount of time and syllables to say, lol. You might as well use the right one if you're not ignorant deep down.

      I would disagree with you of Cassian being friends. Unlike in the first movie where the character of William Dafoe had John Wicks back. They were friends, because even near the end after rejecting the contract, he would not give up Wick, which costed him his life. Like what Joe said referring to Cassian, they just had a mutual respect for each other. You could be right also. I just didn't really see much friendship besides knowing each other's drinks.

    Chapter 3 might take place an hour after 2 (which was two weeks after JW). Aurelio shows up with a new car near the beginning of the movie (early chase/fights, dog tears shit up), he jumps in the car and looks in the dash.. it's a fucking pencil, sharpened to perfection. John Wick with a pencil vs the world.

      nodinitiative I love that Ruby's character act all badass and shit, when in reality she's really not that strong, she mostly relied on her henchmen. Common put up a better fight than her, they should have make him the end boss fight instead of Ruby.

    • @nodinitiative

      holyflame2 I think Ruby's assassin skill would be like someone you don't expect to kill you. For John was almosnt killed in a tunnel area by a violinist assassin lol. Plus, the movie could have used her small size to her advantage in a gun fight, its not easy trying to shoot a small and slim person. At least the movie didnt overdid it with her. I'm surprise Joe didnt bring up the only BS of the movie, that "silencer" scene.

    Who else loves the scene where the russian boss explains again the babayaga thing and the killing three men in a bar with a pencil? At first I was scared like the movie would suck and it would stick too much on the original, but then, the boss's henchman interupts like "yeah i already know that" which was like what i was already thinking, and then the boss was like yeah " who the fuck does that!?"... and it was surprisingly hilarious! 😂

  • @ZenNeonRazor
    @ZenNeonRazor 7 років тому +25

    Really loved the movie honestly, This is a day one Blu-ray buy from me. I have to say though I'm not sure most people noticed but I really did like the ending I know it's pretty unrealistic but I think that's not the message they were putting out but the message that this organization in a way is something like Illuminati the only thing being Wick is trying to break from that society. So I think it makes you think on that level but still all around amazing action paying homage to previous action films while still knowing that it's a Wick film. Easily John Wick is the some of the best action films in the last years. Also Keanu is definitely a inspiration.

    Ruby Rose kinda died pretty quickly though, i really thought she'd put up a heck of a lot more fight though but 5 seconds into the fight, you kinda like telling yourself "shes really struggling..." 10 seconds in and "oh man, now she really knows she bit off more than she could chew and shes positivelyfucked. But even that, it actually kinda make the movie even more epic somehow even if its not the epic showdown/"last boss" scenario you were expecting.
    Thats how well-made the movie is, the scenes are so well though out and they all gel so good...
    a deserving 10/10.

    One part of me wants the John Wick franchise to stop after the third one so it isn't burnt out , another part of me wants them to continue upon the lore somehow. The creators of John Wick opened up a world with so much potential story , not just with John Wick specifically but the entire John Wick universe. It's going to be hard to close up such an interesting world with just one more two hour movie.

    Johns fighting was better this time around too. In the house fight in the beginning of the first movie as soon as he has no gun it takes him longer to take people down and he nearly got destroyed twice by the main bodyguard of reek but this time with ease he is taking people out in hand to hand as well so he felt more rounded. In the first he seemed more deadly with guns but now he seemed deadly with just any situation which felt more like the baba yaga people talk about. I did not get that impression as much in the first one. Also I think the point of mending relationships and calling a peace truce with Vigo's brother in the beginning is the director's way of saying they might be some kind of potential ally in the future for john and a safe haven. Maybe I don't know.

    • @DeathBringer769
      @DeathBringer769 7 років тому +3

      Just think of the first one as him being his first stint right out of retirement. He was rusty. Now, after dealing with all the crap in the first movie, he's a little less rusty and the true Baba Yaga shines through a bit more.

  • @christoohey
    @christoohey 7 років тому +2

    A few quick points for clarification, and please correct me if I'm wrong:
    The marker helped Wick to get out, but wasn't the reason he was allowed out. I took it that it allowed him to leverage more resources or perhaps it kept the Italian mob from encroaching on the Russian mob territories which allowed Wick to establish the Russian mob to a point where he could leave.
    The rules of the marker state that you have to honor the marker. if you don't, you're killed. If you kill the holder of the marker, you're killed. and if you don't execute the demand against the marker, then you're killed. This is why Wick shot his mark despite her slitting her wrists and then didn't go after the brother until his marker was cleared by Winston. Winston explained this when Wick first went to meet him to talk about the marker (the "stay" scene).

    • @3Rayfire
      @3Rayfire 6 років тому

      The only part you're incorrect on is the reason the marker exists. The Marker is simply a blood contract, a favor. John needed the mob boss' help to actually execute his impossible task. Manpower, resources, equipment, etc. In return for the help, he had to promise a favor at a later date. BUT. The boss knew that John was trying to retire, so as long as John was retired, he was holding the marker as inactive and ineligible for him to call in the favor. When John annihilated the Tarasovs, from John's perspective he hadn't actually come out of retirement, since that was an entirely personal matter. The boss had a different view, so he blew up John's house for refusing to stay out of retirement long enough to do his job.
      He worked for the Tarasovs before, not as a bodyguard with a ward like how Joe assumes, but as an actual cleaner. He wanted to retire and in return he had to do basically do a job that would give him full control over New York's underworld. He needed to put the favor in with the Marker in order to complete that job and retire.

Lol, look how pathetic some critics are, they can't admit he gives a great performance in some of his movies. Did they ever watch the movies like Gift, River's Edge, My own private Idaho, Point Break, Speed, Constantine, Scanner Darkly, Street Kings and of course John Wick and it's sequel? I'm not talking about the quality of these flicks, I'm talking about his acting. Yes, he's not Robert De Niro, but give him a good director and he can make a role his own.

Then later on when they fight on the subway, Wick had stuck a knife into him and said the knife is in his aurora, he could either take it out and fight Wick and bleed out and die, or leave it in there and get help. Theory for John Wick 3's plot: As an underworld outlaw (as in the original definition of "The protections of the law no longer apply to this person"), John Wick will be a major chess piece in the implied upcoming war between The Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne) and the High Table (the council of crime lords in charge of this underworld) with Winston and the Continental playing a key part.
    Not only does it add an extra layer of intrigue with John not knowing who he can trust and where the next threat or assistance will come from, John Wick's skills will be put to use furthering the plots/story of one or both sides of this underworld war.

    You missed the subtext that weapons scene slightly. That man was referred to as a "sommelier", which means a wine master. So when he asked for a firearm to PAIR with dinner and desert and such, the back and forth discussion sounded like talk about wine, while discussing handguns, assault rifles, shotguns, and combat knives. Amusing bit of cultural injection into a scene about gearing up to kill people, especially paired with the suit fitting scenes it was interspersed with.

    The Continental is a self governing body. A league of assassins so to speak or a workers union with rules. The crime syndicates use the services provided by The Continental. The heads of the criminal organizations who have exclusive membership are given a unique identifier number to use whenever they call for a hit. Once issued and accepted, the conditions are binding. Upon successful completion of the contract, the issuer must abide by the contract and pay the assassin the stipulated amount. In addition, blood markers are used if the assassin approaches a neutral crime organization for aid (eg. Information needed to make the hit on another organization), and the crime lord deems that it is a debt that must be repaid. The Continental records and actively keeps track of such debts, but remains completely neutral in such matters.

    I bet the black guy at the Hotel (the one with the cool voice who watched his dog) is some John Wick level assassin too. He successfully retired though. It would explain all of the obvious respect. It'd be cool to find out that his nickname was "The Reaper" or something like that. Possibly, just possibly, his nickname was also "The Boogey man" and John was tasked with taking him down. The impossible task? Notice, in the first movie, he was described as "No, not really the boogey man. He's the one you send to /kill/ the boogey man.".

    15:28 I think the Laurence Fishburne character is a foreshadowing of where Common's character will end up

    I think the third film s going to focus on "old friends" (such as Aurelio) trying to cover him (despite the rules), but what I would love is to have a villain in the same level of John Wick, make him have his own sequence against Fishburne's men, that would be awesome.

    The black dude plays a character from the wire which is awesome and I was so hyped because he's awesome. Also played one of bad guys in Quantum break that I just played so seeing him straight away in John wick is like ahh nice to see you gettting work brother.
